James doesn’t have any guy friends so he starts trying to act hyper masculine to fit in with the guys. Also rewatching this made me realize that Erin gets her inability to let things go from her Mom.

Yeah there are a couple of scenes where Erin comes off like her mum or the mum comes off like Erin

The show writers published Erin's diary as a book and in it, she explains that Michelle's mom wanted Mary to keep her big bowl because she was tired of having to wash it because her family wouldn't. LOL

Okays, so in northern Ireland, we all basically have a big bowl in our house. Its used for everything. Baking. Cooking. Popcorn. If a child is ill. Everyone has one and no one knows why or where they came from. Theyre just there

THE CERAMICS BROWN BOWL? I THINK MY GRANDMA HAD ONE BUT IM NOT IRISH OR BRITISH BUT THAT BOWL WAS MADE IN UK THOUGHT....PROLLY CAME FROM THE COLONIAL ERA HERE.

James isn’t really a different character, he’s just desperate for friends to the point where he’s really overcompensating to seem like “manly”. Except he’s James so he’s a little weird with it

i'm enjoying you guys watching derry girls so much because this is one of my favorite shows ever. also!!! a cute detail you might keep an eye out: after clare comes out to the gang, they all start wearing rainbow pins and it's there from this season on, which is such a nice touch to show how they all support her!

Don't know if someone has mentioned it before but I find it too cool not to share: Derry has murals that depict important Republican (Irish) events and people from the Troubles, a few years ago the Derry Girls got their own. As a Catholic, I agree, we do enjoy a good statute.

Actually James always plays as a gay character on other series, there is a very very good show called Big Boys were he plays as a gay guy who enters collage on a big city, coming from a very small town. You are really going to like it.

Fun fact, my family is from Derry and there was really one boy at an all girls school (except it was a Protestant one not a Catholic one) in the 70s. I think they said it was only for one year.

You can go to college from 16, but some schools do cater for 16-18 as well

1:41 you can do 6th year and upper 6th (which is your 7th year of high school and 14th year of school) in your same school but many people go to a polytechnic or tech to do A-levels or other courses similar to those available in a community college 😊 hope that helps guys 😊 absolutely loving these reactions ♥️

The Protestants were from Northern Ireland, which is a part of the UK and a separate country from the southern and Catholic Republic of Ireland. Northern Irish are considered British the same as citizens of Scotland, Britain and Wales.
