They got sold pretty quick. Lol But since its just a prototype, for the next iteration, what about maybe doing a kit that is just two 3mm sheets but with something like locator pins for the second layer to "lock" in place if you want for the thicker books. That way you are only needing to stock one size and the only extra piece thatd be needed is the pins. Thinking like a hole in each corner (so it works for 3 or 6mm kit) and then something like the small rod thats in the staple kit but shorter obviously thatd just drop in to those spot to stop them from shifting.

I actually have about a half dozen more I was saving for experiments that I was Intending to destroy to see what it takes to break them. But since I’ll be traveling for a month I may just put them for sale later today!

@@ImmaculateComics I can wait for the final product that you come up with. Not many sqaurebounds that I need pressing vs regular comics to want it right away.

Would this work with a 1968 square bound books? Also, what can you do with a square bound book that’s not square? What I mean is the bound glued and stapled side is not a 90 degrees angle 📐 when the book is placed flat on the table. The bound side is at approximately at 75 or 80 degrees when laying flat on the table. Can this be corrected? I hope that was a clear enough explanation. The odd thing is the book does not have a curl, the bound side is only angled.
@ImmaculateComics
@ImmaculateComics 2 жыл бұрын
Well I have used it to press books that merely completely flat and it helped, but did not cure the bend in the book. Yours seems like an extreme case and I really have no idea how it will work, tbh.

What temperature and time do you use for early 1970s squarebound? Specifically the Shazam title.

Curious why you haven't switched to the cermaic coated presses. They are no longer expensive and are in the same range as the swing arm you are using

@@ImmaculateComics been waiting for you to engineer your own..lol. have been prototyping one since there is none specifically marketed for pressing comics. I have been favoring the ceramic coated clam shell. The swing arm model has a fulcrum flaw in basic design that leads to life cycle concerns and uneven pressure. Looking forward to testing your new staple tools!

Do you plan on making this product for magazines or older Dell Giants? I just picked up a beautiful collection of Penthouse Comix and some of them need a basic press to make them 9.8s. I will definitely be ordering some of these anyway.

So, your pressing "sandwich" is just one piece of cardstock under the front cover and that's it? No backing board under the back cover?
