What is the current state of Christian philosophy in the secular university and the culture more generally? Is Christian philosophy considered an oxymoron? Or has belief in God enjoyed a renewal in academic settings, and if so, what accounts for that? We’ll answer these questions and more with our guest , our philosophy colleague Dr. Greg Ganssle. We’ll also talk about how Talbot’s MA Program in Philosophy, 30 years going as of 2023, has tried to advance the state of Christian philosophy in the academy and the culture.

The ethics needs updating all the time: we know more and more about the reality. We learn more and more about nature. We learn more about ourselves. Concerning ethics we must look forwards - not backwards

The theologian is accredited with doctorates based on no facts whatsoever, even Alex Jones knows to sing-along with Jesus-lingo, luring his targets by mixing in. The Christian weighs in on fantasyland as if the earth had gravity-free zones. No harm done. Just give these people a pass. Forget they may be elected to rule over us all. Forget 700 years of inquisitions. Don't worry, be happy. Serpents in sheep clothing. The Christian publicly insults intelligence with suggestions progress is made with one foot in fantasyland. Everyone dies in reality, but the Christian gets punishment-free sin & a promise of life after death. There is no critic of the public flogging. Jesus satisfies & is never depicted as bald, short & chubby. Jesus Christ is a family show. The Shroud of Torin has extra-long arms because the Christian offers a family show, extreme violence, but not complete frontal nudity.

When Paul talked to the Greek philosophers on Mar’s hill, he drew their attention to the monument of the unknown God. Paul did not go to them and say: Hey i really dig what you guys are saying! There are several ways of how Greek philosophy became the drop of ink in the pure milk of Christianity! First, many of the original Christian fathers came from platonic and neo platonic backgrounds and found much similarities between Christianity and Greek philosophical tradition. Secondly, the use of the Greek language. The use of the word logos in both traditions for instance. As the years went on more and more Greek traditions found there way into the faith, such as the concept of the immortality of the soul. Both the OT and the NT refer to death as a sleep and that the dead shall arise at the resurrection! The Bible clearly stated that those that sin shall die and that the dead know nothing, and Peter writes that he’ll is to happen in the future. But with namely with Neoplatonism coming into the church, the unbiblical concept of the immortal soul came in with it. The Bible says that God alone is immortal! Adam and Eve only had immorality by eating of the tree of Life. As years went of Neoplatonism became further imbedded with the magisterium of the RCC. Protestantism never fully separated itself from it either. Plainly put, the Greek philosophy is still paganistic and does not belong in God’s church. We need to learn and focus on the Gospel of truth

God created human beings with immortal souls.

@@christopherskipp1525: the Bible says in 1 Timothy 6:16 that God alone is immortal! The first lie that Satan told man was : you shall not surely die! The Greeks did not like that the flesh aged and died, if man had an immortal soul then he would be like God!

Christian philosophy demonstrates just how fractured the religion is, being no more than a set of contradictory versions where each insist that only their version is the right one. Alas, not one version can show it is any more "true" than the rest. Christians don't even believe in the same god, since you all invent your own morals that you insist that this god wants everyone to follow.

Evidence?
@velkyn1

@@bipn_406 "Evidence?" evidence that not one christian version is better than the next? Sure, not one of you can do what your supposed messiah promised: "“22 Jesus answered them, ‘Have[b] faith in God. 23 Truly I tell you, if you say to this mountain, “Be taken up and thrown into the sea”, and if you do not doubt in your heart, but believe that what you say will come to pass, it will be done for you. 24 So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received[c] it, and it will be yours.” - Mark 11 “Go into all the world and proclaim the good news[d] to the whole creation. 16 The one who believes and is baptized will be saved; but the one who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: by using my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes in their hands,[e] and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.’” Mark 16 “7 ‘Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. 9 Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? 10 Or if the child asks for a fish, will give a snake? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!” Matthew 7 “1 Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; but if you do not, then believe me because of the works themselves. 12 Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If in my name you ask me[e] for anything, I will do it.” John 14 “ 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. “ John 15 “13 Are any among you suffering? They should pray. Are any cheerful? They should sing songs of praise. 14 Are any among you sick? They should call for the elders of the church and have them pray over them, anointing them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 The prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise them up; and anyone who has committed sins will be forgiven. 16 Therefore confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. 17 Elijah was a human being like us, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. 18 Then he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain and the earth yielded its harvest.” James 5 I can also point to christian sects that are diametrically opposed to each other when it comes to what they clami this god wants, from LGBTQ+ issues, to women's rights, to the committing of violence, to how one is saved, to what heaven and hell are, to how to intepret the bible. Each sect claims that it is the TrueChristianity(tm), and every other sect claims they are not.

@@velkyn1 Jesus calls us to Love God and Love people. As with the different denominations and sects, some are plainly heretical, they dismiss what the Bible says and have inconsistent hermeneutics. While true biblical Christianity is the true doctrine. I can point out that in Islam there are people who disagree over whether violence should be used, modern Muslims, etc. We're all different but we must find the true God which is a triune Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

@@bipn_406 Anytime you have imperfect humans and they are handed down somethinh as complex of the word of God then naturally your going to have many different sects. Some more right than others. You even have entire sects who claim to be Christians but are really not.
