I wish I could like this twice. Camera KZfaq is no fun. Every time a new camera comes out you see these creators switch to it and then another one comes out and they switch to that one and the cycle goes on and on. Camera technology has gotten so good over the last 10 years. Filmmakers have been shooting on super 8 and super 16 film with no autofocus and all the fancy tricks in modern cameras and they made it work. So why can't we do the same with a camera that came out last year or 5 years ago? As long as it shoots 24 fps, 60 if you wanna be generous and goes up to 4k then whats the issue? Great video and thanks for touching on this topic!

Your speaking facts. KZfaq will convince you to buy a certain camera and then a month later tell you it's worthless 😅 buy this instead...

Everytime I see some KZfaqr post their click bait of "Why I'm switching from camera A to camera B" I get totally turned off by them. They are just doing it for new content so they get whatever clicks and money off of KZfaq. One guy was complaining so much that the autofocus wasn't 2 milliseconds faster and whatever. So I pointed out to him that to those of us who shoot video for a living it is not all about autofocus we like to do follow focus manually. Anyway when I called him out on this, he was none too happy with my comment. I guess that's why he is just a KZfaqr and not a real working videographer. So keep on telling it like it is and let them sell their camera for half of what they paid for it, that's when I buy their unwanted kit. I don't need the latest greatest just one that works for me and makes my job more efficient. Thanks for keeping it real.

You are one of my favorite creators here on KZfaq, I value your opinion and takes. I would love to see you review some cinematography and talk more in-depth on how to achieve a cinematic image. There are a few films that come to mind that I feel are great to study , Borgman (2013) and The Skin I Live In (2011). It would be awesome to see your feedback on films of that quality and how to block and create a similar feel on a budget.

One of the worst content I see on gear review is how something is a “gamechanger”. Cameras in the past 5-7 years have all been game changers already. Most of them shoot RAW footage that can be edited on a plethora of NLE’s. I appreciate camera tech advancing, but I think we have to be realistic on how much it will change the filmmaking industry.

Great video, i agree 100% with you. Most these people that are gear obsessed are looking for an excuse for not making something, they always need a new piece of kit to do this or that, once they get that new piece of kit they will need something else, its endless and a lot of the time an excuse for having no creativity. They think having the best camera will make them a director not realising its the person behind the camera and more importantly its about being creative. I think also that people don't like others to succeed especially if they are not them self's, telling someone they cant make a movie because they need this piece of kit or that makes them feel better about doing nothing them self's. We need more people making videos like this.

Tangerine - Sean Baker's award-winning feature (Sundance Audience choice, Independent Spirit, etc.) was shot on the iPhone 5s in 2014. People complaining about cameras are just looking for an excuse to not make a movie. Don't even worry about them.

This is all true. In fact, I'd say that more important than the topic of your gear is probably the topic of "how to get your film funded" or "how to make the most of x (insert low amount) and make a short film", or even "how to write a short film that is gripping". All of these topics are infinitely more important.

You have acting skills from somewhere. I can see it in your actions. Yeah, you do the right to left. To prove a point you shift your head up and to the left. You do all of the proper head whips. Still don't know what this kind of acting is called. 14 seconds in I would love to know. The eyes blinking at the right time. 17 seconds in. Look down and to the left when you are concerned. Please tell me what kind of acting this is. I see it in the shows I used to like. I noticed it and haven't been able to get it out of my head.
