i was at this gig.the third day of a magical weekend.i could hardly believe it the day i woke up and it was announced....Stone Roses headlining 2 miles from my front door! i dont care what anyone says, i was there,3 rows from the front, and they were amazing. no one can ever take from me the feeling i had as a 15 year old going mental to the Stone Roses live.Everyone has a sound track to their youth and im thankful they were my band.im 31 now but will forever remember that day.

Wonderful 🙂👍John is excellent here , as he was throughout this era♥️👍🙂 His 59 Les Paul used here ended up in the ownership of Richie Sambora, who used it on the Bon Jovi 'These days' LP and tour, in recent years he swapped it back with the shop he bought it from as part of a deal on another 59 Les paul, the shop had bought it from a member of the Roses management after John quit the band. Wonder where it is now? Was once owed by the bloke from Cheap Trick, so I read somewhere years ago.

Johnny is the only one really enjoying this, with the Les Paul and just his demeanour on stage. Back in 89 he was just standing in one place playing the 'quiet' guitar player.

Amazing how f-ing good Squire became on guitar by the end of the Roses! Just think what this band could have done if they'd manage to stay together... I still want to know what really happened between Ian and Reni, which was the beginning of the end of TSR.

Apparently John wants to go ahead with it, it's just that they're trying to get Ian Brown on board with the idea. Still, I haven't got a single clue why everyone thinks Second Coming is one of the worst albums ever. I like it a bit more than the debut, but it does lack the anthems that The Stone Roses had... Breaking Into Heaven's one of the best songs on there too.

I saw them in Sydney in 95 and have Squire leaning back with his gibson shillouetted against the smoke tattooed on my brain! I also disagree with comments about 2nd coming being less than brilliant. It's fkn brilliant and I listen to it everyday. I can't say that about any other album. I still wear the flared jeans and the moptop hair coz its me altogether which is why I love the roses so much. they are me in the form of music! thk god Ian is still groovin away!

@Lukith66 Reni had already left the band in March 1995 (this footage above is August 1995), the person playing drums here is Robbie Maddix who played until the band dissolved completely.

I love Squire's leaning and staggering around while rocking that guitar! He's the best. Ian just seems kinda half-there. He's nowhere near the same Ian from the Blackpool '89 video.

why reni?!?!? WHY?!?!? oh it could've been so much better with reni, the greatest drummer on earth. it's just not the same with robbie, he keeps good time, but reni was just so smooth, so natural. and i don't really care for the keyboards. don't get me wrong, i've listened to and studied every live performance i can find. i love the roses! -stone roses fan in west texas (the only one, i think)

Reni never toured the Second Coming. Reni was the backbone and soul of the Roses- and as good as John Bonham in my view. The Second Coming live stuff is the Roses going through the motions. But even an average Roses gig and tune wipes the floor with most other bands. Its a shame they blew it. Their groove was as good as Led Zep. Reni never drummed again. Brown and Squire went up their own arses. Only Mani came through it with dignity. What Squire forgot above all was: they made each other great.

My favourite stone roses song-what a tune. John Squire is a fucking epic guitarist-can't believe he's turned his back on music in preference for art. He is shit-hot in this version too. Unfortunately, the same can't be said of Ian Brown...although he was a great frontman over the years.
@stoneroses2214 жыл бұрын
Ian said alot of the time on the tour he had to shout as Squire was using 4 hotwired Marshall Amps to bolster his guitar sound. If you listen to the acoustic tracks performed on the tour, Ian's voices a lot better.
@spacebarbus4 жыл бұрын
Hotwired FenderTwins.. 2 in use 2 as backup as he was dining them to 11!!!

I've no problems with Ian Brown's studio voice. Also I can see how Squire matured as a live guitarist between '89 and Second Coming. He seems lazy on Resurrection, Blackpool and his flanger drowned his playing on some songs.
@cutloosebruce13 жыл бұрын
i know the audio from this was used on Crimson Tonight..Does anyone have a link to the whole gig ?

@holyholly198017 жыл бұрын
rakyrock, with all do respect how on earth could you compare the stone roses to oasis? There is no comparison, stone roses are the reason there is an oasis and if you've ever listened to any stone roses albums you'd know that. Just because the stone roses didn't make the american pop charts doesn't mean oasis is better, oasis pales in comparison.

Is Ian even trying?
@stoneroses2215 жыл бұрын
I think Ian would have sang better, but John did have 4 Fender twin amps set up, so Ian had to shout rather then sing at times. On the acoustic tracks they did live like Your star will shine and Tightrope, his vocal was pretty good.
@placebo15013 жыл бұрын
@thenewfella1994 hahahah^^i am breaking into heaven like ian right now:D
@LukoHevia13 жыл бұрын
@campbelllovescock John and Ian wrote the debut all by themselves... I can't deny it, as much as i dislike the singing, i cannot deny the songwriting...

What The Fuck ohgimemo. Ian Brown has one of the best array of vocal talents ever. He's just not into it here, he's already left the band in his heart.

okay, mani with long hair. probably squire, too. the film director must have been in love with ian brown and robbie maddix -- you don't see anyone's face other than theirs. and, frankly, it just doesn't sound like squire normally sounded live, in my opinion.
@crankyoldfart14 жыл бұрын
sanguru100. its clear ur not a fan.ian brown has never been a technically gifted singer but that was never the point.he was one of the last truly cool frontmen.i was there that night and it was a magical experience to see ian john and mani together live on stage.and he actually did a decent job overall that night with his vocals.tightrope sounded immense and he even reached the high notes on resurrection as well!!Squire was just ridiculously good too.Bottom line is these lads had soul and groove
@mauricetomas15 жыл бұрын
creamo i totally agree with you...the vocal intonation is so off especially when he sing I want to break right into heaven...the note is flat and he sustains it. For a musician its like YOU ARE SO CLOSE but not there...its hard to listen to without cringing.
@2aelf217 жыл бұрын
these guys are the british equivalent of red hot chili peppers: uber-talented 3 musicians + a crappy (but good-looking) singer.
@danielcooke9115 жыл бұрын
it is mani he just got long hair
@LuchiGonzalez11 жыл бұрын
Stone Roses would be perfect if he sang some octaves higher
@mttunes17 жыл бұрын
I dont think this is from Feile.!! Reni was still in the band at Feile.
@gards216 жыл бұрын
I think you'll find that Ian's lack of singing ability held the band back after 5 years and hence the split following the second "heavily" produced album which was squire showing how much he liked Jimmy Page imo.
@74bomayemcfc13 жыл бұрын
american's never really understud them ... they were loved on there own patch though...

It was John Squire's great guitar playing that carried this album. The apathetic singing almost ruined it.
@mattylad6816 жыл бұрын
Agree - His vocals are shite but he is THE Voice and I love his crap singing too. How can u not sound good behind Squire, Mani and Reni???
@LukoHevia13 жыл бұрын
@JustAFocus Couldn't agree more...Still, i find a sort of charisma in Ian, wich is a plus... But anyway, a shitty singer surrounded by really talented musicians... That's the truth...
@zosimos10211 жыл бұрын
The singer is renowned for singing out of tune. Great song, but Live????
@VidiotWind17 жыл бұрын
The band sounds great but Ian's vocals are very poor, probably the result of too much boozing and smoking. Nevertheless, a great, great band that I wish I could see live.

haha the ironic thing is tht reni was black haha

yea brown cant sing... but this is fine.. no really if you have watched the all other the stoneroses live.. its actually quite enough.. i like reni better than that rasta thou...
