Sentient rocks. That is all. The undeniable low point of the season. #DoctorWho #TheStonesOfBlood #TomBaker #DW

The old woman was my favorite part of this story. I almost made a supercut of her years ago

She was delightfully no-nonsense and savage! I actually regret revising my script to remove a ramble about how some random old lady doesn't hesitate to go into danger and get her hands dirty. I think I took that part out because I was trying t make a flimsy argument that Romana doesn't do anything (not that she was given much of an opportunity to), but that's blatantly untrue. I didn't want to unjustifiably bash Romana (especially when there's talking twinkling lights and sentient statues to acknowledge) but I wish I still kept in my thoughts about this random old woman.

i think the monsters being colossal immovable rocks that move about is actually one of the scarier monsters of classic Who... and really unique. Also I really value having old women as main cast members, coz that's super rare and is one of the few redeeming aspects of Earthshock. also also, give the old lady a bra? bras suck. they're uncomfy, perilously expensive and a faff. free the nip! I only wear bras if I wanna look hot i reckon the androids of tara is one of the funniest doccy who stories ever. Its joke aren't frequent, but they are amazing when they happen.

Interesting thought that I personally don't get because they were just so shockingly silly to me on first watch. However, I agree that in concept, there is something cool and unique about them, but in execution... I just can't take them seriously. Good point- wait, Earthshock bad!?!? :O Agreed. However, the final shot gave me a jumpscare. (And yes, you are correct, they are incredibly uncomfortable) Androids of Tara is something special. It's been weeks since I watched it and I still can't get that inexplicable one-off monster creature out of my head. It will live rent free forever.

@@Dirvinator Earthshock has an amazing ending, and the first episode is perfectly adequate, a cyberman getting frozen into a wall thing is rad, and the old woman captain is a rare old woman in the show. But apart from that there's little to like about Earthshock. Earthshock and Destiny of the Daleks deserve their reputations to be switched.

@@Dirvinator oh it is pretty universally shat upon... I was looking forward to it for so long because of the amazing DVD cover... and I totally get why it's angering that the Daleks are treated as robots in it, but it's the most rewatchable classic story for me. It's so pleasing and fun and good and ahhhhh

He's angered the fandom once again! (This one is widely considered the best of season 16)

My friend I cannot find that information anywhere aside from one website that rates Stones of Blood Episode 3 as the best singular episode of the season. Every other place I look seems to adore The Pirate Planet (which I was surprised by).

Nah. I didn't like this one. I didn't even finish watching it in time for your review which is why I'm late commenting. I wouldn't call it boring but it just didn't hold my attention. The villain was a bit rubbish too. She looked like the tin man's just got out of the shower. So far this season has just felt a bit flat in my opinion. I miss Holmes/Hinchcliffe
