I couldn't keep myself from just smiling throughout my view of the clip. I was just remembering all the experiences I had too when I visited the place in 2018 during my IT days in ABEOKUTA. The place is really a beautiful sight to behold... I bet you'll feel and enjoy the explanation more in it's reality when you go there. Kudos to the tour guides... I would never forget the face and voice of our tour guide then too. I can vividly remember that he also ended his speech with these specific words this woman ended hers with too. The interesting thing is that Lishabi never lived in Abẹ́òkúta.. Lishabi lived in the old Ẹ̀gbá homestead and died up to a century before Sodẹkẹ́ led the Ẹ̀gbá into Abẹ́òkúta. Ṣodẹkẹ́, warrior and leader of the Ẹ̀gbá people that migrated into Abẹ́òkúta, fought along with other warriors to defend Abeokuta and held other invaders at bay.

The name "Abeokuta" came from Ifá divination before the Ẹ̀gbá people migrated into Abẹ́òkúta. Ẹ̀gbá had been a big nation before moving to Abẹ́òkúta. Ifá told them to name their settlement after whatever they find there.. When they found Olumo, some people already lived under the rock. Hence, they named the place,, "Abẹ́òkúta". It is not because people hid under the rock at the time of war. Ẹ̀gbá had warriors at the time that waged wars against other intruders like the Ìjẹ̀bú, Ibadan, (the inhabitants of their old homestead) Because, they did not want the Ẹ̀gbá to develop, but the Ẹ̀gbá warriors led by Ṣódẹkẹ́ fought assiduously to maintain the territorial integrity of the city. Ṣodẹkẹ́ led the Ẹ̀gbá people to Abẹ́òkúta at about 1825 and Ṣódẹkẹ́ died 1845. Go and read history and historical facts.. How many people could have hidden under the rock? . Migration to Abẹ́òkúta was not accidental, but by divination, where the oracle said to them that the place would expand to a great city and be very famous. Wọ́n ò pọ̀, ọ̀pọ̀lọpọ̀ èèyàn yóò wà tẹ̀dó sì ẹ́, wọn ó máa bí sii, rẹ̀ sii.. Ti ko si si ogún ti yoo ko ikú Ẹ̀gbá mo lailai.. That was what the ifá divination that Ṣódẹkẹ́ and others consulted told them.

When you pointed at BBHS you did not even mention the name of MKO Abíọ́lá who was genuine Ẹ̀gbá Gbagura son that the military led by Abdusalam killed. The name that readily came was Ọbásanjọ́ because he is lucky to still be alive. Meanwhile, Ọbásanjọ́'s origin was Ìbògùn village in Ewekoro Local government area, where he was born. He was not born in Abẹ́òkúta. It was his uncle who took him to Abeokuta to attend BBHS. He did not attend any primary school in Abẹ́òkúta. I read this from one of his memo, that he (Ọbásanjọ́ himself) wrote. Ẹ̀gbá Gbagura where MKO Abiola comes from had been before they moved into Abẹ́òkúta with their King. Their home included the present Ọ̀jọ́ọ̀ and Ìdó areas of Ìbàdàn... Ẹ̀gbá are of three states, Alake, Gbágùra and Òkè-Ọnà. Òwú were not Ẹ̀gbá, neither were the Ìbarà. The Ẹ̀gbá people received them into Abẹ́òkúta when Yoruba warriors waged war on Òwu and destroyed the place., and their descendants scattered all over other places. Ask yourself why do we have Òwu Kuta, Òwu Ìjẹ̀bú, and Òwu tribes in other places.. As a matter of fact Òwu had been a strong nation on it's own and well established with great warriors before the YORUBA warriors from Oyo, Ifẹ̀, Iwó, Ìjẹ̀bú and other towns. They sacked the whole nation and laid a curse that it should not be rebuilt again. They killed Olówu Ọba Akinjọbi at the time. The old Ìjaye too, was sacked by war before their remnants fled and settled in Abẹ́òkúta. Àgọ́ Ìjàyè, Ìjàyè Kúkúdì and Ijaiye Kúnrunmí are all in Abẹ́òkúta now. Kúnrunmí never lived in Abẹ́òkúta or their present settlement. The place you call Ibadan today were all Ẹ̀gbá homestead. It was due to inner dispute among the Ẹ̀gbá people that made them invite all those warriors to fight against their kinsmen and those ones took over their lands and shared among themselves. That is why the present Ibadan was founded by the YORUBA warriors, Oluyedun, Máyẹ̀ Okunade(Ifẹ̀) , Olúyọ̀lé (Ọ̀yọ́), Ibíkúnlé(Ìjàdó) , etc. That is why their appointment of Olubadan is by military ranking, it is not by oracle. As we speak they know whose rank it is the turn to ascend the stool. Bí àwọn bàbà ńlá wọn ṣe tò tí wọ́n fi ipile rẹ̀ lé 'lẹ̀ nìyẹn.. The Chieftancy is by ranking not by ruling houses. Ask yourself why do we have Ìdó, Ojọ́ọ̀, Ìdí Àpẹ́, Mọ́kọ́lá, Ikija in Ibadan and Abẹ́òkúta? Ìdó and Ọ̀jọ́ọ̀ in Ibadan were Ẹ̀gbá Gbágùra lands and home. MKO Abíọ́lá was Balogun Ìdó Gbaguram His father, Salawu Abiola was Balógun Ọ̀jọ́ọ̀.. Ọ̀jọ́ọọ̀ àti Ìdó Gbágùra are in Ẹ̀gbá Gbágùra, Abẹ́òkúta. You remember Late Olubadan, Ọba Yesufu Oloyede Àṣánkẹ̀ conferred Basọ̀run of Ìbàdàn on Late Chief MKO Abiola as honorary Chieftaincy?? You think he did not know what he was doing?
