there are LOTS of great teachers like him in the US that care about their job, and the impact on their kids future. the problem is that we/US invest LOT more in the military instead of the education system, and the future, which is our kids. couple that with the fact that teachers have a very negative public perception in this country and get blamed for everything... poor parenting... teachers fault your kid is lazy but you think he's bored or gifted... must be teachers fault... and so on.

Everything about this story is SO GLORIOUS! He is definitely going above and beyond his call of duty. Teaching at a school he attended, and giving his students a learning environment that they WANT to be in.... this is amazing. He is amazing and so are those children!

This guy truly loves being a teacher. It's going to go a long way with the kids knowing that his heart is definitely in what he does. The principal is also connected to the kids in such a positive way. We definitely need more educators like them.

He says a “…A disconnect between students and teachers, teachers and teachers, students and students…” and he is clearly trying his best to *change this.* He’s on their level, having fun, making memories with these kids, he is putting in the work to actually change shit. He genuinely seems to care about fixing the dynamics of the situation. I respect the hell out of this man. This is just awesome.

It normally is just 1 teacher that changes a kids life. You rarely hear someone mention that their school "saved" them, it's always that 1 teacher who saw potential in them and supported them💓

So true. U don't know the impact you have on someone life until you see them years later and they let u know how your words an kindness affected their lives. It happened to me with some of my volunteer students and groups. Endless love for all goes a long way. God bless this teacher

I come from a district where the student are just a number. Seeing the impact you have on those students brought tears to my eyes. Seeing your first video, i didn't know the story behind the dance. Knowing the story now, I only hope you will share your joy with us more. And please know what you are doing is important, and amazing! We need more educators like you and the principal!

He’s so great. And middle school is when kids need this kind of connection with adults and other kids, especially at school. That’s the age where kids start to get drawn in the wrong direction, they start to feel isolated, disenfranchised. Then it usually gets worse from there if they don’t have support and good examples of adults and other kids.

Whats wrong with keeping the kids engaged on a level they understand?? You never had fun in school?? Are you mad that you dont have the dance moves to compete??? School is not and should not be math, books, reading, and writing all day. They are allowed some free time during the day. Like study halls, the choice to leave for lunch, or have a dance party wherever whenever they want. Sometimes ya just gotta get up and get the wiggles out even as a teenager and adult. You must live a real boring life if you have a problem with this 💯

You’d really rather pay even more money for prisons to house millions more people than pay for good teachers?? That was me as a teacher too. I couldn’t even walk in the halls felt like a rock star. I’m in my 20s and I’m back in corporate. If you haven’t, please take time to be an educator if you can. I had a teacher that let down his guard like this. I loved going to school and it made learning so much more attainable when I knew I was comfortable around someone who truly loved their students and enjoyed teaching. I see people like this as an oasis or positivity and equality.

There are plenty of Teachers like this but yet they are often ignored or discredited due to their skin color. And the very ones who started all of this, I had quite of few teachers like this one, one in particular, who taught me Math and science through music thanks to him Im a music producer and audio engineer. To me, this is nothing more than a fluff piece. The mainstream media never give credit where credit is due.

Just a great and inspirational story. When you connect like this, you are helping to brighten these kids day. You never know what’s going on at home or whatever, so to care and show these kids loves on a positive level, using music, culture, creativity, happiness, dance, courage, tenacity, is super cool and totally a blessing for the teacher(s) and students. I needed this as a parent of 2...I've always believed there are more good teachers than not. I also know the staff is given a lot so to see the intentionality to break up routine and bring joy is beautiful❤thank you to all of the educators and crew in schools!!!

I am so proud of him.and happy for the teacher and primcipal.who just loves the relationship they got with the students. He should get the teacher of the year award and should be called the dancing 💃 teacher

I love it. The kind of connection that he and the principal have created plays such a huge role in a student's success. My daughter's junior high has staff like this. She loves going to school.
