Hey everyone! Hope you all enjoyed the latest entry into the FFXI Experience ❤ It took a while to make as i ran into a few complications. One of which being, for some reason, all of the Chains of Promathia recordings lost their audio and I had to manually remake the audio for a lot of the scenes. Also, one thing i noticed too late was that I accidentally removed all the colour grading in the video due to selecting an option i shouldn't have. So some special effects during the Ninja scenes are no longer there, and the green screen fuzziness came back. Its not enough of a problem to remove the video & reupload but its still pretty disappointing. 😢 In the end, It's just another thing i gotta keep in mind while i make the next video. (Or if i ever need to reupload this one.) All that being said, i love how the video turned out and hope you all enjoyed watching it. ✌️😁❤

I highly recommend the newest Nextgames guide to make FFXI beautiful. It really makes the game look much better with whole zone draw distances. HD textures, better lighting, 60 FPS. Basically, it's not an option when you play this game anymore. It's completely necessary.

I'll definitely look into it - some mods didn't work the way I hoped they would (especially the 60fps) so I'll take your advice on that ❤️

The Apex mobs were added to a couple locations around the game to alleviate congestion of people grinding job points at level 99. There's also newer Locus mobs added for master level grinding, locus mobs are level 130+ so definitely watch out if you see one! I see a lot of people recommend Horizon, and the server has a good population and tries to bring back what it was like leveling 1-75, but if you want to experience the story retail is the only way to go. One thing Horizon has going for it for CoP specifically is that it brings back the level caps that were in place back in the day, like the promys had a level 30 cap, which definitely made them more difficult, as well as level caps on several future areas that retail has completely removed. People who don't play the game anymore like to say modern XI is just a solo game, but really it's just that all the grouping was moved from the leveling process to endgame. That way people can enjoy all the story content solo at their own pace, and if they want to continue into endgame activities, then they can group up with other players. There's like 2-3 story missions I can think of off the top of my head that are actually quite tough and you will probably need to ask someone for help. I've found most people are willing to help new players so don't be afraid to shout for help/advice in town!

You can't lock yourself outta stories in FFXI so don't worry about what order you do your quests and missions. however i do agree with the idea of going in order Nations>Zilart>Promathia>ToAU>Wings of the Goddess>Seekers> and then everything else. Context is important!

Wooohooo! More FFXI stories! Keep em coming my dude! One or two things about Ninja and weapons in general in FFXI: 1.) Your weaponskills depend on your Main-Hand weapon. Do try out wielding a Katana, you get other skills. The dagger is considered to be the weakest weapon, with a few exceptions (a weaponskill called Dancing Edge combined with Sneak + Trick attack does a big deed) But on the direct attacks, any other weapon is better. 2.) Every Job has a different Skill with Weapons / Magic. Ninja has a C+ in Daggers and an A+ in Katanas, allowing you to be better with Katanas on Ninja. Skill results in Accuracy, Damage and the ability to do Weaponskills earlier, as those are unlocked at set Thresholds. 3.) This is a bonus. Ninja features unique cool Animations for every Race with Single-Wielding a Katana. This is unique and different from all other single-handed weapons. Give it a try!

Thank you so much! ❤️ Ooooh! I didn't know that! I kept a dagger in my main hand since I was used to them from being a Thief - but I think I'll take your advice and swap my Katana into my main hand! Thank you! ❤️ Glad you enjoyed the video ❤️

@@NoPurposeIndie Heyhey it's me once again, I wanted to add a few things about THF in case you didn't know, as I don't know your knowledge^^ 1.) Sneak Attack increases the damage of your next physical attack when behind a monster. 2.) Trick Attack increases the damage of your next physical attack when behind a character (Player or Trust) 3.) It's possible to make a SATA attack when behind the monster and behind a character 4.) You can increase the damage of physical Weaponskills with SATA, making Viper Bite your best bet for this trick. 5.) With Hide, which you get at THF45 you can execute the SA from any position 6.) For Ninja, I'm sure you already got the knick-knacks, but casting Ninjutsu, especially Utsusemi requires tools - each Ninjutsu has their own tools to use. Make sure to learn Utsusemi: Ichi asap and Utsusemi: Ni at Lv.37. 7.) NIN is one of the best Subjobs for any Job, because of the Dual Wield and Utsusemi allowing super tankiness 8.) NIN can be a viable Tank focused on Evasion and Utsusemi, aka Shadow-Tanking.

My favorite game ever since I was a kid... I still play to this day. Its quite sad that many many FF fans have never touched FFXI, some even go as far as to exclude it from video compilations of the series (but not XIV) and hate on it constantly. It is a beautiful game with many decent storylines and a rich history. I wish it got the love it deserves from SE.. Someday I hope. I'm glad you went to the actual retail servers and not the easy lame path of private servers, enjoy what you can!

Thank you very much for your support, I'm glad you're enjoying the videos and I hope I do the game justice ^^ I think most people just see how daunting FFXI can be, so decide early on not to touch it. It was the same for most people that looked at FF14, (until the WoW Exodus a couple years ago) thinking they'd never get past A Realm Reborn. Which I can understand for FFXI. Even after everything I've done, I think I've only reached 1% of the overall story. o,o But I love hearing experiences from all you FFXI players, it really adds to my own journey (^w^) ❤

Sucks that Kitala quit. There are plenty of games I personally don't think are great and would NEVER play by myself but playing with a friend makes them bareable and enjoyable. Like the comment you made about him getting murdered by Apex mobs and you laughing. Hijinks, making jokes and shit like THAT is what would motivate me to log on and play everyday. I may not like the game itself but sharing the experience with someone I know/am close to would give me the drive to see it through. As long as he/she could keep me entertained while we play, then the game doesn't have to. I.e: "I may not be having fun doing what I'm doing but I am having fun doing it WITH you"

in december last year i started playing on a ffxi private server, horizonXI, hadnt played ffxi since about 2008. was a blast progressing through the game in era (no trusts, catch up mechanics) interesting to see the difference where you're playing on retail... playing in era is fun but your journey looks alot easier lol

I pretty much binge watched all of your FFXI videos and all I can say is that these were really fun to watch. I feel bad for your friend as if the game felt like a chore that sucks because to him it probably felt like wasted time. That said, I think its fair to keep in mind that if you just want to do a speed run of the story (speed run lmfao) then retail is basically the way to go. If you are looking for more of a gameplay experience, then THAT is where servers like HorizonXI really make a difference. FFXI was originally never designed to be played alone, or even duo'ed, ESPECIALLY in the content era that you're in. Furthermore on servers like HorizonXI you could still follow a guide but there are so many people playing and working together that can help you out that those clunky old hiccups don't feel bad, and arguably they feel kind of good because its just another mechanism that makes you interact with other players generating more player driven content. And 100% it sounds like im coping with that statement, I get it, but its just one of those things you would have to experience. That said, this game is an investment if you are just simply trying to digest all of it as opposed to just letting it be a game you live in on the side whenever you want to get away, which is another way it was also designed. Anyways I really loved this content, and I hope to see more in the future!

Aww thank you so very much! ❤️ I was hoping the series would be binge-worthy eventually 😁 Yeah the Horizon OG experience is very interesting and I totally understand why people prefer it, but it's just not what I'm looking for in this series. I wanted to see the game as it is in modern day as if someone just picked it up to see what it's like. Also characters, music, environments & story take total priority for me, so HorizonXI just doesn't cut it. Thanks so much for you feedback and there's definitely more coming, just need to wrap up some other scheduled work first ^^ ❤️

Not too surprising in retrospect that he got burned out. You were working on like 3 expansions worth of missions at the same time in that video and got road blocked at a part requiring a key item/ mini quest most players didn’t bother to get. In a large group there’s usually one person with it or a linkshelll member ready to pop in and help. I don’t know what server you’re in, but I hear a linkshell on Bahamut for newer players to team up with each other was created. Also a huge amount of walking which is good when you want to explore and bad when you just want to rush. It also sounds like your ninja is about high enough level to spam the ninjutsu wheel. (Lv 40) you basically won’t get to do it again once you’ve outleveled that, so have fun with it while you can. Once the damage on those falls off you only get to do your ninja nukes during magic bursts most of the time. There is also a bcnm40 fight where you and another ninja can have fun nuking some Hecteyes to death trying to get a peacock charm to drop. Peacock charm lasts an insane amount of time (until lv 80 to stop being best in slot I think?) so farming one could be a fun little diversion for you.
@NoPurposeIndie
@NoPurposeIndie 10 ай бұрын
When you put it like that, I can totally agree. I didn't even consider that only 1 person needed the item. Aw I love how freely the FF11 community are willing to help others progress. Also this is my first time hearing of Ninjitsu Wheel. My Ninja is Level 50 at the moment, so next time I play, I'll keep an eye out for it ^^ Thank you so much for the advice! ❤️
@Khajitxi
@Khajitxi 10 ай бұрын
@@NoPurposeIndie Basically if you’ve seen the elemental wheel npc in one of the three main nations tells you about, ninjas have it in reverse with their nukes. Eg. Ninja fire nukes (katon) weakens the monster’s resistance against water. The water nuke weakens the monster to lightning. From 40 to 50ish a ninja can just use them all in rotation as their main source of damage. Daken trait has made it so that you can’t really try to force it to work for a longer period with an elemental staff like you used to. Luckily there is that BCNM I mentioned earlier if you want to experience nuking stuff to death provided you find a person to duo it with you. Being lv 50 opens up a few things and means you might have missed a few quests in norg you needed to get fame for in order to flag quests that give you ninjutsu scrolls from your mentioning not having many spells to work with. You have threeish options. 1)Feed a sheep in selbina a whole bunch of cabbage to get norg fame up so that you can get free scrolls from the quests inside norg. There are other ways, but selbina is easy to get to. 2)Buy the spells on the auction house. 3)Buy them from an npc INSIDE Tenshodo and not the secretary up front at a price probably cheaper than the auction house. There are universal ninjutsu tools you won’t unlock from the curio moogles for a while, but you can always just buy them from the auction house or a nice passerby so that you aren’t carting around 20 different sets of tools when you can just bring 3. As for things that just got opened up to you: 1) AF armour quests for ninja. The deeds system kinda circumvents the need to get this stuff and slowly upgrade it as you level, but the stories are generally fun. 2)I dunno why my brain is giving me a better way to say this a week later, but be sure to kill a bunch of fomor in the next area you unlock for CoP. This used to be a legitimate endgame activity.

Loving this journey! The expansions especially chains of promethia offers IMO one of the best sound tracks and stories in final fantasy, and the stories just get better. I actually disagree on ffxi horizon, it is really for people who are yearning for that old school experience, with barely any qol, insanely slow progress, and irrating gear progression if it's something you aren't used to Making me want to go back and finish the latest storyline after I quit 8 years of p.servers and 15 years if retail on and off

Great to see you managed to get into COP, and you just hit the tip of the iceburg on that story. Sad to see your friend not liking the game but i get it, its not for everyone and can be daunting for some to the point of quitting. Solo play can be daunting, especially going in blind like you are, but its great to see how much fun you are having giving the game its dues without a guide. True player experience was relying on those that figured it out before you and relying on that wisdom to get you from place to place so maybe finding a new player linkshell at the linkshell concierge in North Sandy would probably go a long way in improving your time in XI. Please for the love of Altana do not go play on Horizon. It is a bastardization of the retail experience created by players that harken back to the bad old days just because they had a 75 next to their name instead of a 99. They changed so much and just have a good marketing campaign to get people to play and try to shut retail down because the devs didnt cater to them. Most private servers are that way.
@NoPurposeIndie
@NoPurposeIndie 10 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the advice ^^ I may grab a linkshell to help me out, though I started checking the guide anytime I'm stuck just for the next objective. Like, I had to use a guide to find the Ninja quest & the Magicite Quest for the Nation story. I managed to get the next Chains of Promathia section done without a guide but I was stuck in that Tavnazian dungeon for a whiiiile 😂😂 I've had a lot of people offering to team up, but I guess FFXIV has got me into the bad habit of not asking others for help 😂 Don't worry, I may check out Horizon at some point (maybe) - but the New Player Experience journey I'm sharing begins and ends with the Retail version ✌️😁 Playing a private server would defeat the purpose of this series - seeing FFXI as it is in modern day 😁❤️

@NoPurposeIndie good to hear, guides are there to help instead of just played through verbatim I think. I used them when going through my second and third character because there was a lot I don't remember from 20 years ago, but the Rhapsodies did a pretty good job of telling you were to go in the missions list. I did dip my toes into FFXIV but the lack of player cooperation had me quitting because you really needed to know people to actually play with others. It feels like a solo FF game until endgame and that bummed me out after playing XI for so long. Good to hear you are sticking to retail. Once you get further towards endgame and doing all the endgame experiences I think you will get too hooked to play private. Things like Omen, Ambuscade, REMA questing, and eventually heavier endgame events that are notably absent from private will become evident.

Since doing this series, I totally get what you mean. The FFXI community seems so dedicated to meeting friends and ally's first hand as a necessity, forcing bonds to grow. FF14 was my first proper MMO, so any online interaction was a bonus, I wouldn't have felt the same issues FF11 players felt when they transitioned over. It is very much a single player game with massive amounts of MMO elements. That being said, I saw how cooperative FFXIV can be during COVID. I made so many friends that constantly encouraged & helped me to make my own videos and artwork and get better. And FFXIV gives me insane access to creator tools & ways to interact with others, far better than any game I've played. So when I move to other great games like Elden Ring or Baulder's Gate 3, something always feels missing... (Like being able to hotbar 100's of different emote animations and macros on the fly). They definitely both have their expansive qualities, but I totally understand how FFXI players must have felt and it is indeed a shame that FFXIV can't recapture that. 😔

@NoPurposeIndie back in the days of old (like 17 years ago) it was actually REQUIRED to group up to make it past level 10. The level grind was a huge focus and the story was really only opened up to you after you put in weeks of work to get a job strong enough to play the story. This and just about every event was the norm so you had really tight knit groups that would do everything together. A lot has changed but the concept of needing others is still there, even if it is just someone's edits on the BG Wiki page. I played XIV in both 1.0 and after ARR and it just never clicked the same way because of that single player with some MMO elements. It is absolutely a good game but just not for me personally. I will finish the MSQ some day, but right now I'm content playing XI. The community is top notch in XIV and they are trying to move the idea that MMO players are toxic out of the public eye. They used the influx of people playing during COVID as the catalyst for that and good on them. I just wish SE would do a combined sub like they used to to let some of those players experience both, and it would keep them in the SE sphere between XIV content drops. I really wish SE would give some love to XI to give us those kinds of things and modernize the UI a little to make it more new player friendly. I get that it's a 20 year old game running on PS2 era engine that is being held together by duct tape and the community's love but it would just feel nice to have the chance at a little attention that XIV gets, and then both games could offer what every player wants in their MMOs
@NoPurposeIndie
@NoPurposeIndie 9 ай бұрын
I couldn't agree more - especially on blending both subs into one. Would highly recommend continuing your FFXIV MSQ journey at some point - Shadowbringers & Endwalker are spectacular! But that's the best thing about FFXIV - you can leave it for 20years and the content will still be there waiting for you! ^^ (with updates 👌) FFXI is pretty rough to play but it's definitely gripped me with it's story. I'm so fascinated with the world - but I do with they updated the main story with Mission Markers. Especially since Rhapsodies does such a good job of connecting the expansions together with the base game. 👌

Gotta play in a private server to get a the real experience and not a weird single player experience… I will go as far as to say ff11 is the best mmo of all time. Its old but the game mechanics are the best so far You actually have to plan your adventures You cant just warp around Its not a game of convenience where you teleport everywhere and the game finds groups for you. You have to plan and build relationships to get through hard content
