Some say that Baki lacks character development, but for me he is one of the best built characters. It's not always necessary for the character to undergo a complete change, Baki evolved as a person and is no longer consumed by the hatred he had for Yujiro.

This is reinforced by the high five Baki and Yujiro shared after Baki's victory in the Raitai tournament imo. The fact that Baki can do that even after all the suffering his father caused him throughout his life, ruining his relationship with his mother, and even killing her just to make sure Baki would have the motivation (spite) to become stronger than him. Yujiro is a truly selfish and evil antagonist. Well-designed lol

Guts was born from his mother's corpse. Raised by a mercenary who took money from a guy to rape him as a child, fought in wars since childhood, was offered as a blood sacrifice to demons by his best friend. Then, was forces to watch his lover be raped in front of him by that same man.....need I go on?

This guy had so much trauma and still strives to push forward and get stronger. That’s something and even more wild Baki does it with a smile on his face. Anybody who remembers the old anime shown in the video remembers season 1 around when his mom died especially before Baki was extremely emotional. Hot headed, prone to self doubt, reckless and at times prone to depression due to lack of healthy validation from his family …but the Baki we know right now?..He’s positive, stoic, focused, level headed, and very wise.

It was around the middle of the pandemic when I cought covid and had 2 weeks of just staying in bed that I got into baki and finished it all during that period. It motivated me so much that I started doing bodyweight exercises as soon as I got slightly better. Fast forward to today, this summer in June fullfils 1 year of going to the gym. I am grateful for baki

Love to hear stories like this Anime is truly inspirational Naruto had taught me to never give up and to keep calm in high stress situations and also made me focus on my reaction time and reflexes...when it comes to baki it has made me respect 4000 Years of Martial Arts!! Any time i watch sports or when i am doing my work or even when i watch a bartender mix a drink i consider all of it to be martial arts 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Baki did not get rid of the poison because of his Hanma blood and girlfriend. The opponents poison hand was the counteract or antivenom to the poison hand yanagi used. They explained it in the series

One thing I find interesting about Baki is that Yujiro went out of his way to find someone like Emi with bloodlust with a major dark side, but if you think about it, Baki loves to fight but wouldnt hurt a fly, assuming it wasn't a stepping stone to Yujiro.

Just a correction. In the Ratai tournament, Baki became better because the poison he was experiencing given by the inmate was nullified because of the poison of the enemy he fought in the ratai tournament(The guy with white clothing). The reason for this was there was a short story in the past where the poison martial art used has multiple books of deadly poisons but nullifies itself when all was combined and these books were separated, one half was used and passed down to the inmate from the inmate arc and the other half was used by the guy in ratai tournament arc.

One of the best fighting anime ive seen since if first wtching dbz when i was 7. Watching baki for the first time got me back into working out eating right and looking into some sort of martial arts i know it sounds sad lol. The demon back isn't a power up to be activated it was just a show of genetic superiority to show that the hanmas were made as perfect beings for combat and the part where baki overcame the poison was due to the fact that he was already poisoned and was hit with a new poison and they both counteracted each other which helped him recover

my theory is that the 15 y/o mafia boss looks the way he does cause of the way he dresses/styles himself in tandem w/ him having this condition called gigantism, as for him being a mob boss? he more than likely just inherited that position at an earlier age than usual

The giantism idea makes sense. I don't think he is supposed to look old, just big and chiseled. I do believe he inherited the position at an early age due to his strength and intelligence. I love the story of him getting his initiation tattoo and immediately going to fight an entire rival clan to scar his body as a way to finish the tattoo.

5:30 okay makes me wonder why Yujiro stopped when that old guy suddenly died. He would have kept pummeling Baki past death I am sure. Maybe he became a tiny bit softer when he 'opened his heart' to Baki or whatever.

Because if he had kept pummeling kaku kaioh, it still wouldnt have counted as yujiro's victory, he didnt beat kaku, old age did, its a twisted sense of honor

Because the fight was over , or so Yujiro thought, and he would've won had Kaiou not come back to life. And it wasn't even a clear victory because the doctor told him that Kaiou just secummed to his old age, not to Yujiro's blows. The fight with Baki was not a tournament nor was theyre any rules, whereas the fight with the grandpa was and did.

I think it’d be amazing if sometime later in the story, the rest of yujiro’s offspring showed up and there was some kinda huge hanma family fight, or if there was a rival family that tried to overthrow the hanma’s as the strongest bloodline

@@WrathOfLust IDK, I think those early seasons are better than the netflix versions (although they've gotten better as its gone on), if I hadn't already seen the OG anime, I may have been put off by how many weird scenes with poor animation were in the prisoner arc. I've consumed all the animes as well as the manga. I think the OG tournament arc was one of the best written tournament arcs ever; Lots of real-world techniques and strategy went in to the fights, which made it super interesting IMO. The animation is ugly, and the "jack hammer/hanma/hammer/hamma" stuff is weird (even more weird that they called him "jack hammer" in the recent netflix pickle arc... No idea why that happened.)

@@CatfishBradley I love original Anime, I watched it several times through out the years, the fights where absolutely fire. The Netflix adopation, Early CG was a bit whack but latest Pickle season animation was pretty sharp. I am just happy that anime is getting continuation like this at all, I always consdiered Baki to be pretty Niche and to see it rise and become popular again just makes me happy. Now in just few short weeks we are getting the father son fight... and I am sure it will keep getting seasons all the way to Sumo saga its at now... I will never not support the netflix one, but I absolutely agree that original was amazing!
