She's a legend. Full stop. No need for the qualifier of female legend. Just legend.

@Luke : Very true if the statement was from the '70s or '80s. But it's 2020+. To say she's a female legend now is ridiculous and it falls into gender/identity politics. It's something that has ruined our society. She's a legend. The false labels and identity politics have created a new world where mediocrity reigns supreme.

@@leonashwell7427 : I'm not buying into anything, "bro". Is she a rock legend or not? If you're saying she's a rock legend because she's a woman, that's playing identity politics. Is Bonnie Raitt a great guitarist or a great female guitarist? I don't isolate people into categories like that. Was Eddie Van Halen a great male guitarist? How can one person be labeled as such and not another? That is the sheer hypocrisy of the left....they base people's accomplishments upon intersectionality and a false narrative of victimhood, all the while saying equality is their goal. And it's not.

She may not be my top-of-the-list singer either but she's certainly on the list (I must have it here somewhere, it's a long list, so I'm sure to find it eventually) as well as a great song writer and a large part of what made Fleetwood Mac good.

Professor, it kills me that these so called experts saw it fit not to accept Pat Benatar into the 2020 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class after the fans voted her second overall for most deserving of induction. It’s a disgrace, and the people who run the Hall of Fame owe her a HUGE apology.
@lwaves
@lwaves 3 жыл бұрын
The people that run these type of things are often out of touch with the general populace and what actually deserves recognition. They are the musical equivalent of those elitist art critics who will ignore genuine, worthy art but give awards and recognition to a pile of bricks or a soiled bed. They basically pat themselves on their own backs for being stuck up their own arses. Not all are like this but there's more than enough of them.
@l.t.w8985
@l.t.w8985 3 жыл бұрын
The blame largely lies on the others that voted such as other musicians and people in the music Industries such as producers and songwriters and whoever is in this rock and roll Hall of Fame. It's just not the committee that oversee. What they do is they nominate the artist. Then over a thousand ballots go out to the Musicians who are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and all kinds of Industry people and they vote. We get one vote that goes into those over a thousand votes so our vote is 1 in a 1000 so it's great for the fans to keep voting to show the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but it doesn't do really any good. The whole thing is a sham and quite a shame.

I remember when heartbreaker came out. I knew right away this was a smash. No woman really rocked like Pat did. This was immediately recognizable. Personally, my favorite Pat Benatar is a song few ever talk about but it was no doubt a genuine hit and to me is as signature a Benatar song as any. It's called Fire and Ice. I would suggest you listen to it if you have never heard it. No, it's not the song that you think about when you think Pat Benatar, but if you give this song a chance, you will not only love it, you will see that it defines her as well as any song she sings. Give it a shot friends. I promise you'll love it.

Whatever happened to the entire tribe of rock chicks? Those strong women who demanded attention whether jilted or desirous... Pat Benator, Chrissie Hynde, Ann Wilson, Joan Jett, Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, Annie Lennox, Debbie Harry, Bonnie Raitt, Bonnie Tyler and later Melissa Etheridge, Shirley Manson, Dolores O'Riordan, Alanis Morrisette, early Sheryl Crow and many, many others. I guess the last bonafide female rock singer we had was Amy Lee of Evanescence. It's tragic that this entire genre has vanished from the mainstream music world especially when gender related issues are being discussed more than ever. We need to bring female grit right back into the music business, all the ladies mentioned above were such strong, confident, inspirational role models. 1. We Live for Love - The first song I ever heard from Pat. I was blown away by her soaring vocals! This song will forever be my first love. 2. Le Bel Age - Neil said, “Song always felt a little incomplete to me.” As for me, I love it just as it is! 3. One Love (Song for the Lion) - Co-written by Myron. It’s cool to see drummers actually doing more than just hitting things with sticks. Beautiful song. 4. All Fired Up - A great rocking song and a cool video as well. 5. Run Between the Raindrops - Just putting in a fav that doesn’t get the attention it deserves.

Titans from the beginning of creation but with only demi-godly status, such as Jethro Tull, Judas Priest and such are not allowed to enter. But Milli Vanilli and Whitney Huston are members of that godly elite club which bestowes absolute credibility, finalizing the status of Godlihood. Soon to be inducted, Lil Wayne, Spice Girls and Kylie Minogue, cause they're the epitomy of rock. I wonder why Johnny Rotten, speaking for the Sex Pistols declined that supreme honor and called the hall "a piss stain" among other words. I guess they rather be demons than RnRHoF Gods? Giving The RnRHoF that Supreme Status of the highest order, as it deserves, is so flattering and revealing of this Rock Professor's expertise and cred on the scene.

I saw Pat live 3 times in 81, 82, and 83 in a little dance club in North Syracuse, NY (I think the name was “Club 37”). Pat and her band were serious rockers with so many hits, and these shows were some of the best I’ve ever seen! I swear Pat locked eyes with me one time, seeming to silently thank me for enthusiastically attending the show.😁 She’ll always be one of my favorites!❤️ Professor, every vlog you release is a masterpiece, thank you for all you do!

Another reason for their strong appeal in the 80s other than Pat's vocal chops and her sexy image, they were able to create hard rock songs that one could dance to, too. Pat and Neil has such an impressive eclectic catalog of songs. I also envy their marriage. Love Holly, too. Wrote songs that I like for other artists. Heart, Lita Ford, to name a couple.

I was living in Ohio in 79-80. I was a contractor doing work in the stadium where the Cincinnati Bangle's played. I was on the upper tier doing my work when I heard instruments starting to warm up. Then microphones being ajusted, check check 123. Music started playing in short sperts. I liked what I Heard so I walked down to a Big Center Stage in the middle of the stadium. Chairs being set up around the stage. Then as I was walking closer I heard operatic scales being sung up and down. An amazing powerful female voice. Then as I was at the first tier near the floor songs started to play 30 seconds of each one before the other would start. I walked up to the side of the stage and saw this Very Beautiful Woman singing with her Amazing voice. The power was incredible. But more incredible to me was how tiny she was. It was incredible that such a small woman could have such power emanating from her body. My friend walked up and said it was Pat Benatar! I never heard of her before but have been a fan ever since. She was so beautiful and had an incredible huge smile. The concerts was sold out all weekend. My friend and I didn't have any tickets connections so I never got to see her in concert. But for and hour I was about ten feet from her and her Amazing talented band warming up for that evenings concert. I was still a young man, so of course I fell in Love with her. I watch KZfaq videos of Pat and her husband playing at small venues. Spider is as talented as ever and Pat is still beautiful and an incredible singer. I'll never forget that day.! I was a major concert goer back in the day. Been to some of the greatest group's live, but would love to see Pat Benatar. It's on my bucket list. Professor, you have such an amazing descriptive way to passionately tell the history of these great music icons. I appreciate your channel so much. When trapped by selfish thoughts, where dark perspectives need changing, "Kingdom Key" is my go to reset button. On occasion Kingdom Key has brought such conviction to recommit tears well up. So many great songs are found there: "Every time I Fall Back", "Somebody's Baby", "You & I", "Everybody Lay Down", the rockabilly tune "Crazy", and not to be left out the great acoustic tune "Rise".
