The Story of Shroud: The King of Reddit

To be famous in the world of esports, it’s safe to say you need to be able to appreciate a good meme. True superstardom in this world, doesn’t take place in big press conferences, red carpets or glamorous photo shoots.
In esports you’ve got to master the art of Reddit. The combination of being absolutely incredible at your game of choice while simultaneously not taking anything seriously.
Maybe nobody in esports history embodies this more than the King of Reddit himself: Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek
From clutching on the biggest stage with Cloud 9 to the top of the Twitch charts. This is his story.

@VI I suppose so, lol. But you could also call his mom giving birth to him the butterfly effect. Usually the butterfly effect is reserved for something you wouldn't think is entirely related. A butterfly flapping its wings to create a large gust on the other side of the world. You don't connect a butterfly and gusts or storms, but you do connect showing someone an fps and them finding out they're good at them together. It is just an odd example. No shade, man.

If you have kids, be like Shroud’s dad. Support your kids. Encourage their hobbies. By excited for them. It doesn’t matter if you don’t understand it or if you think it’s a waste of time- those experiences you, and your kids, will remember forever. Family is everything.

@pcbangbros8350
@pcbangbros8350 2 жыл бұрын
@@muhammedraashid3667 Yeah, becoming a pro gamer is a 1 in 1 million chance for most titles. People who say "support your kids mindlessly" aren't parents, if they actually had kids, they would understand that when you are a parent, and you see your kid going down a path of almost certain failure, your job as a parent is not to encourage their downfall but to impart wisdom upon them to make better choices. For every success story like Shrouds, there are dozens of thousands of stories that go unheard of because the person failed miserably and became poor, homeless, depressed, or woke up to reality and got a real job with stability.

He was smart to move away from the competitive scene to go full time streaming. Most of us know that being Pro is not easy and there's lots of ups/downs and money isn't always there if you're not winning, but streaming full-time allowed him to enjoy the games he likes to play and make money at the same time without anyone at his throat forcing him to make god plays. Much respect.

Thanks for featuring me in this vid theScore esports! It's def been a wild ride. Its amazing how one person can bless so many. He's seriously so humble. He reached out to my stream in a way that didn't make it about himself. Nothing was "planned" ahead, as naysayers try to claim, he never tried to gain any promotion off of what he did, any of the "news" following his raid was from outside parties just sharing his awesome gesture. I mean, asking folks to use their prime subs on me, and not himself, is an obvious example that he was doing what he did to be kind, not for promotion.

I know supports are needed in a team game but man when he said that he's no longer a superstar I felt sad for some reason. They could have rotate the support role in every round that for me I think killed his passion for csgo. You could feel it that he wanted to make big plays but he can't cause he's supporting the team. It's natural it would appear that way. The video fairly compared two styles and Ninja is the epitome of one of them. Ninja is everything that was stated in the video, but nothing stated was inherently bad and is the reason for his success. Whether or not they're "shots fired" depends on your own value judgements. Ninja thrives on being over-the-top in an oversaturated market. He's a performer for a different audience.

@@Ozymandatory best aim. Not best player. EU pros are good for a lot of reasons. The thing about shroud is he can adapt to any game and essentially be in the top 25% of players instantly. So when talking about a variety gamer he has the best aim. Obviously 14 hours a day CSGO pros are going to be better at CSGO but Shroud has the best mechanics when it comes to gaming in general.

only if it's from a young age and only if you actually have talent in it. There's a lot of people who wont be able to reach the pro scene no matter how hard they try, just because they have no talent.

Got the video link from a friend. Gave the video a chance as shroud is my favorite streamer, then saw "ohh 23 minutes video thats too long lets just watch the first 5 minutes" and before you know it, i was at 22nd minute mark and didnt want the video to end. You really know how to keep the viewers engaged with that narration and story telling, subbed right away. Keep up the good work
