Well, it did end with the result of their descendant Minos who’s arrogance had brought much trouble to Crete. Funny enough, on how there would be much greatness expected, only for it to end with horror. Minos spited Poseidon and was gifted the Minotaur. So in a way, Hera didn’t have to lift a finger, hard to tell if she was aware and simply watched this follow through, or if she did have a hand in the disaster that befell Crete.

I want to point out that Tyre is pronounced as "tire" (like the tires of a car). Tyre is an ancient Phoenician city that still exists. It is a city with a long history and is located in the south of Lebanon.

Every nation back then,was forming a mythology that was ,more or less, compatible with it's character,the nature and the landscape,the climate,the surrounding nations, it's imagination and thinking level.I think we like best Greek mythology,because is less cruel and bloodthirsty than the others,and there is justice for everyone,man or god,in the end.
@kimphilby7999
@kimphilby7999 2 жыл бұрын
@wargames maybe they do ,but when their behaviour is touching an other god,then justice has the last word. A few examples: the castle of Troy was builded by Poseidon and Apollo,for punishment,Ares and Aphrodite were bound in a net,for adultery,and the most famous, Prometheus was punished because he disobeyed Zeus....

I used to wonder when a mythology happening in a small Greece city states have been immortalized as Egypt, Libya, Europe....when it is some square miles where the illusion of such thing takes place. And also Egypt, Libya a devout Moslem country does not change the name of their country...hmm🤔

Zeus: Wait, aren’t these Canaanites killing children? They have a god called Baal, and he says to himself that he is the son of God himself. They seem to be nice people, but I hate the Assyrians.

@@user-cg2tw8pw7j Zeus is Zeus. Baal is the god of Syria, the Phoenicians, Palestine... Canaanites Hanan, the city of Phenicia, seems to have once existed. The reason is hatred? It is possible to experience hatred without causing hatred.

Ευρώπη in Greek is both the name of the continent Europe and the character europa. Europe and europa is the same word written differently when first translated from Greek to Latin. Many dialects back then and diffences in writing system locally contributed in that.

The continents were named,by the Greeks,after four sisters : Asia, Libya (Africa),Thrace and Europe. Europe was today's Greece, central and western Europe,and eastern Europeans was Thrace. Europa is the Latin type of the Greek name Europe....

@@kimphilby7999 it's great that you mentioned Thrace. Well those sisters were the oceanid nymphs. They were 3000. Some of them represented places, like Thrace, Rhode, rhodope, Ida and others. But 3 had their names given to bigger geographical parts-continents, those were Libye, Europe and Asia. In ancient times before classical antiquity the region of Thrace did not have exact borders only that it is north and east of Macedonia and illyria all the way to the north and east above pontus including places like scythia making it more like what we would call east Europe today. I found only one source claiming Thrace is like a continent, which is a fable by one called Andron of Halicarnassus.
