In this video we're listening to The Stranglers once again. We're having a lot of fun with this band's music and we're looking forward to this. We're wondering why Peaches? Enjoy!

I have followed the Stranglers since 1977. I have had the great pleasure of meeting them all over the years. A very intelligent bunch of guys who could play their instruments well.

Interesting that these guys were mates with the wonderful 80s celebrity chef, Keith Floyd. The riff of this song was the theme of his BBC cooking programmes

It was meant to be outrageous in the summer of 77, and it was. The Stranglers was an outrageous name, but part of the punk scene. They did a lot of brilliant music.

Thanks for playing this one guys, part of the soundtrack to my teenage years! The organ was played by the late Dave Greenfield whose keyboard skills deserved a lot more credit than he ever got.

This was there first album and they were definitely gritty, mixed in with punk but always musically bigger. Dave Greenfield (RIP) was awesome on the keys and a nice throwback to the likes of Deep Purple, Doors etc. The Down In The Sewer line was a reference to the last track on the album, one that really shows Dave off well and definitely worth checking out!

I had tears as the song went on, your reactions were wonderful. I hope sometimes you watch them back! If my mind still serves me correctly there was a radio edit which suggested she got out of here bikini rather than a body part. Both sleazy and very funny at the same time.

I first heard this when I was 6 radio 1 wouldn't play it because of it so called sexsist lyrics. I used to laugh my head off at this one then my much older brother would turn the record over and play " GO buddy Go"and I would start dancing I would love it if you would play that song to. Keep em coming 😅

The band was friendly with a bunch of black musicians, and one time they asked to borrow the Stranglers PA for an event. Hugh and JJ stayed the whole night and were knocked-out by all the reggae tunes and toasting that they heard. First time they'd come across it. They wrote Peaches the next day.

When I was much younger I used to think it was lame that The Stranglers would sing a song about a whole lot of fruit on the beach... I used to think things like ''what next? you going to sing about mangos and apples?'' I had no idea

Another great reaction vid. Stranglers were the 2nd Punk/new wave band I saw live-the Roundhouse in London. First 4 albums of theirs are great. Like others, I'd recommend the closing track of 1st album, Down in the sewer. Also early singles such as Get a grip (on yourself), No more heroes, and Nice n sleazy.

Listen to waltzinblack and then watch a cooking show by the legendary chef Keith Floyd, who, while immaculately attired in a suit and bow tie used the music of his friends, the stranglers, as his intro and outro to his hilariously irreverent cooking shows which combined superb Food with a good slurp of wine!
