Zizaran and ‪@steelmage2426‬ bring you the undoubtedly, UNDISPUTED, strongest build for Path of Exile 3.18: Ignite DD.
Detonate Dead currently has a glitch that GGG is willingly keeping in for the next patch, that makes it deal 60% more damage than intended. While keeping in mind its decent clear speed and unmatched tankiness, this build is clearly the strongest all-rounder competitive build in the game at the moment.

Thank you very much for this build guide! Was planning to use DD ignite as my league starter after I saw how tanky it was. Collected some PoBs over the past days but your detailed explanations how certain mechanics function will help me a lot to improve my build later on :)

@@michaelbump4718 cant speak for RF but DD is decently tanky so far. can easily run t16 maps with low investment. 60% armor, evasion, 50% phys and spell block and 5k hp / 1,5k es. only missing some recovery and spell suppression cap. invested about 3ex or so. 2ex for a decent 6L chest, but 5L would be sufficient enough for now

Literally every single league start I spend the whole week before poring over build guides/PoBs. I finally decide on one and set up all my planning stuff. Then 24 hours before league start you release a video that fucks it all up and makes me switch builds. :)

If you are playing SC I highly recommend flesh offering and commander of darkness instead of essence of glutton for giga zoom zoom, but you will need arcane surge probably linked with flame dash and some mana regen on gear to fix mana issue

i noticed that the pob has a 0 qual DD, but having 20 qual and more cast speed in general is a big help for making the build feel better. i leveled a bunch of DDs in my offhands so that i could vendor them for 20 qual, then vaal them until i got one. being able to leave it at level 1 makes this a lot easier.

I usually dont do quality on gems just because its extra padding on dmg that you dont have early. I generally try to make the pobs as basic as possible so when people play the builds theyre like "whoa this is better than expected"

I think it may be important to note that scaling the build in the early stages depends heavily on the level of your Desecrate gem. Trade leaguers should be searching for a lvl 19-20 asap if they want more damage a lot sooner. Also, Dslily does a great guide on her channel and has her own PoB in case you're looking for more information on the build.

@@DustinSeiger Additionally, GGG tends to not balance skills in the middle of a league otherwise it can really hurt peoples leaguestart. If they chose not to bugfix it at the start, chances are they'll wait till next league.

Oh boy, thanks so much for mentioning the new Raise Spectre thing. As much as I liked DD previously, I always found the whole spectre thing kind of annoying, but with them being save on your character now, this might actually become my league starter still. [Edit] I'm talking about spectres being bound to your character even if you don't have the skill gem anymore - not the bug that two of them have huge HP numbers. I'm with Ziz on that - it should be fixed.

You and literally 99% of the playerbase... this is going to be such a boring league and it's a shame the streamers are all playing this overpowered broken garbage that removes ALL challenge from the game. A sad state of affairs really. The game has become a meta racing game and not for creativity and coming up with novel builds that work. A real shame. Times like this i commend Quinn and Mathil, but as for the rest of these streamers, no comment.

@@TheLucyKemp ''The game has become a meta racing game '' Well, what do you expect when there are prices to claim for boss kills? Do you expect the top tier contenders to play heavy strike? Obviously they'd go for the most dominant ability possible so its easier to get their goals done. If you dont like how meta works, which is a thing in every game that has a competative nature to it, just dont play it yourself and enjoy whatever you do in the game.

(well, to be fair, that was pretty easy thanks to my awful comment ;) ) I wasn't talking about the two spectres having more HP (which should be fixed - I agree with Ziz here). I meant that they're now bound to your character and you don't need to run around with a skill gem or have to find replacements, because your spectres would vanish for some reason... THAT stuff I always found annoying.

@@jfleysh Yes, exactly.. and it's a shame the majority of streamers are being boring. All they care about is their E-reputation as a racer and no longer about providing good and watchable content. no one wants to watch Zizaran and Steelmage play DD for the 100th league running... zzzzzz. Streamer hype is part of the experience for a new league (to me) and it's a shame that it will just be a stale repetition of last league. They'll have OK numbers until Lightee wins and then their viewership will drop to zero.

I can't understand the gems in this build, can someone help me? I placed vaal detonate and his supports gems in the body armour. Desecrete and his supports in the helmet. Auras in the gloves. Flame surge, flammability etc, in the boots. But I don't know what to put in the sceptre.

With changes to Archnemesis going core, I feel like one should be careful about Consecrator packs, as they are ignite immune.

That's so bullshit. It was already bs back when atziri was ignite immune, but you could argue that atziri was sidecontent you just don't do on those builds, now you can't even run a regular ignite build anymore for maps... It's like playing airsoft and that one kid goes "nuh uh, you didnt hit me I have a force shield" Like what's the plan for solo players here, squeeze another skill in there that despite you having only ignite scaling somehow deals enough dmg? Just have (for all intents and purposes) immortal packs in your map, you have to kite around if it happens to sit on extra content you'd like to do? Whittle the pack down with just your base fire hit dmg, spending more time than it's worth? That sounds engaging. Or does ignite prolif deal dmg to ignite immune monsters? Then it wouldnt be so bad. EDIT: Just read up on it. They're only immune while on consecrated ground, so you can melt them when they step off that. Still annoying, but managable.

I feel like how the guide currently shows things, I am going to be using 2 descecrates as I will need the dead bodies more often than every 16 seconds because the trigger cycles between 2 skills

Hmm guys i got my Auric Champ but when i spawn it only 1-2 corpses appear from the champions , rest is those flying carpet mobs or the small auric ? Am i doing it right

PoB / Skills / vvvv DD Swap vvvv - you are listing more combinations than slots are available. In addition they do not match with the ones shown in video. Could you tell what gems are in - 4-L (helmet) or 4-L (gloves) or 4-L (boots) - 3-L (wand) - 3L (shield)

I think you're simply misunderstanding how he has it setup. With the gear he has you have 24 skill sockets. Before you have the trigger piece of equipment, you're using the CWDT Before Trigger and ignoring the CWDT After Trigger + Uber. So using the gems for vaal dd level 1/desecrate/CWDT before trigger/shield charge/auras/flamesurge/wave+flammability = 24 gems. Once you have the trigger gear and done your uber lab, you can switch from cwdt before trigger to the cwdt after trigger + uber and the trigger setup(you have to choose between cold snap or frost bomb, cold snap is the suggestion he made in the video). Doing that is also 24 skill sockets. I think what's confusing you is probably the Flamesurge/wave+flammability set. That's a 3 socket not 4. You won't use both flamesurge and wave of conviction, you only use 1. You initially use wave of conviction, and once you can get exposure on gear, you replace it with flame surge.

@@RodasAnimes That's right. The desecrate in the trigger setup is mainly to help keep your ascendancy buffs rolling for the most part. The ones that require you to spawn a corpse. It also helps whenever it lines up with vaal dd going.

On POB there's a whole setup that includes wave of conviction hextouch flame surge and flammability. If manually casting Desecrate 4 link, there's nowhere to put these extra 2-4 gems. Am I missing something here? ty

Fixed next league most likely. This league GGG have stated no changes to this bug this league. They did hotfix a really bad bug though - "Fixed a bug with the interaction between Flamewall and Blastchain Mines Support which allowed the secondary debuff applied by projectiles fired through Flamewall to stack."

How does this build compare to the Champion Explosive Arrow with Balistas? I always run with a friend and I find DoT builds like burn and such dont feel that great unless playing solo cause of the extra life monsters get when in party... though this build does look much tankier!

I'm confused by the Cold Snap and Frost Bomb in the "trigger set up", they seem to be checked off. Are they not used at all or what, only one of them could fit in with the 24 gems. That is if I'm assuming the trigger set up is Vaal Molten Shell, Desecrate, and Bone Offering, and the your shield would have Shield Charge, Faster Attacks, and just one of either Frost Bomb, Cold Snap, or Teleport maybe. I feel like I'm missing something here.

Sorry for the late response, but here's how I interpreted it. The shield slot I believe is for your hextouch setup with flammability and either WoC or Flame Surge. WoC before getting "fire exposure on hit" on your gloves for the exposure, then flame surge after for the extra dmg once you don't need WoC anymore. For the trigger, I'm pretty sure it's between Cold Snap and Frost Bomb in your 3rd slot along side desecrate and bone offering. Frost bomb gives a life regen debuff to enemies and Cold snap creates chilled ground and generates frenzy charges. Both purely utility options.

Thanks for build, i do have an issue with your Pob because all the skill gem setups are 4+ skills and you have a sceptre and shield. Its confusing and there are no notes or explanation in the video as to what is correct and when to use something over the other.

Before you have the trigger piece of equipment, you're using the CWDT Before Trigger and ignoring the CWDT After Trigger + Uber. So using the gems for vaal dd level 1/desecrate/CWDT before trigger/shield charge/auras/flamesurge/wave+flammability = 24 gems. Once you have the trigger gear and done your uber lab, you can switch from cwdt before trigger to the cwdt after trigger + uber and the trigger setup(you have to choose between cold snap or frost bomb, cold snap is the suggestion he made in the video). Doing that is also 24 skill sockets. I think what's confusing you is probably the Flamesurge/wave+flammability set. That's a 3 socket not 4. You won't use both flamesurge and wave of conviction, you only use 1. You initially use wave of conviction, and once you can get exposure on gear, you replace it with flame surge.

Can anyone confirm if this is better for bossing cs siesmic traps? Lightee was talking about how sabo is a bit tankier because of regen, even with the slightly lower hp pool. Is traps more boss friendly?

I went over this in another comment but there's probably 2 gem sets you're misunderstanding. The first is flamesurge/wave + flammability one. That's a 3 socket not 4. You only use 1 of flamesurge or wave of conviction, not both. Initially you use wave for the exposure, once you get exposure on your gear, wave is useless so you use flamesurge from then on. The other possible confusion is Trigger Setup. Cold Snap/Frost Bomb are options. So that too is a 3 socket, not 4. Desecrate/Bone Offering 100% should be used in Trigger setup, then your choice of cold snap or frost bomb(that's why he left both of those unchecked in the enabled category since it's up to you which you use.)

@@BlurryKnyght Yes, you use a second desecrate gem for the Trigger setup. It helps keep corpses on the ground for your ascendancy bonuses that require you to have "recently spawned corpses". Also, the other one that requires corpses to be near the enemies and you.

QUestion: In the get specter section you get a spectre and then remove gem. How do you get the dead spectre on the ground under where you want to DD?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but as far as I know: Whenever you raise a spectre it gets added to you desecrate pool (the bodies you summon with desecrate) even when you don't have that spectre active anymore (or even a raise spectre gem) you will still be able to summon the corpse of that monster with your desecrate.

Also, it's in the PoB Note section: "Why is the raise spectre gem not included? In 3.17 desecrate got updated to add the spectres you last used to your monster pool, even if you don't have the spectres summoned right now. This is also saved to your character and persists between logouts."

I was wondering how good Call of the Void (the new lightee ring) would be for DD, have been planning to leaguestart this for a while and being able to get free 10-15 reduced damage delt on enemies just by exisiting sounds really nice but its been a few leagues since i played DD and i cant really remember how detremental corpse removal of enemies is for the build. In Invitations such as the Hidden i know that it would probably be a bad idea (or you would unequip the ring before someone dies) because you can usually get 50% of another of the bosses HP down by exploding the dead boss corpse but how much impact would this have on mapping and stuff like Simulacrums?

The thing that instantly comes to mind is that for ignite prolif to stick around after a mob dies, you need to have the corpse of the mob there.

Call of the void does nothing, since the chill is not from a hit, it's from being near a corpse.

I don't get it....You also spawn zone mobs too, along those statues, and you only get to explode one body per click....and it's not really easy to click fast on this build. What did I miss?

The regular DD only explodes one corpse so I assume what you see as making all corpses explode is actually the result of combustion and ignite proliferation. Vaal DD is the spell that explodes multiple corpses (up to a certain amount).

How does the Vaal DD actually work? Do I need to keep desecrating the explosion area, or is it just fire and forget?

Yes, if you run out of corpses it stops. You can keep spamming desecrate. One thing you can do for bosses like cortex is desecrate and explode any of the non-Spectre corpses and leave a pile of the high hp ones. It doesn't really matter though. Your goal is to simply explode 1 of your spectred corpses to apply the highest dmg ignite possible.

Yep but you could just go back to act 3 and ress a new one, and you'll notice it in your hideout, and it should never happen because after you have raised something you can just delete the gem and you never have to do it again
