@@antoniohosino145 you are saying the truth. Eddie Kendricks talked Russell out of leaving the group because of jealousy fighting shunning Russell. They wouldn't talk to him at all. Eddie told him he couldn't leave because too many people depended on him. So he stayed 10 more years. Fact: writer'/ producer Thom Bell & Linda Creed wrote the songs for Russell. Thom loved Russell's voice but not the sound of 3 of the others. Russell would not leave the 4 high and dry ...so he met with writers', went over songs' , practiced and spent time recording. ALONE. For first few years. 3 albums..and 10 of 12 straight top hits. When Russell wouldn't leave them, Bell went to write for Spinners. The hit songs were not coming from new and various writers. Disco came. Stylistics toured overseas where their music was still hot. Russell sang every song until 1999.and Left. Then the 2 that remained hired Eban to mimick IMMITATE Russell and they travel singing the songs Russell recorded and made famous. Stabbed him in the back. Touring singing the 12 songs and songs from first 3 albums none of them sang on. EXCEPT airion who sang a duo lead on 2 songs that Russell asked Thom to write so Airion could sing on record. He made the money but made sure it was split 5 ways. He carried them. A pretty big heart guy. They treated him badly I hear. Bad deal.

Does anyone know the members of their orchestra? Excellent musicians and arranged just-so! Much better than on the original recordings.

Ok! that's what it's called! Anyway it was just so original .The choreography alone is worth watching. It's kind of like dancing, but not dancing....just evoking musical emotions through ..movements???? And that orchestra was terrific.....oops. I already said that above. THE STYLE ORCHESTRA...wonder if they are still together in 2023? Please let me know if you see them performing ,maybe with some other groups.

@@briankeith9584 you speak truth Briankeith95......Russell Thompkins recorded on all the songs...he sang first 3 albums andc12 out of first 14 hit song written for him alone..without the other 4. He was the Stylistics. Now 2 of them tour with a hired Russell impersonator singing the songs he alone made famous...and call rgem theirs. You speak truth.

Only Eban Brown could come close to Russell Thompkins..(who is legendary ) but Eban's falsetto kind of grows on you. 2023--And now he has left the group! DARN! Yes, everyone has the right to grow...just hope Eban will find solo success.( His regular voice, by the way, is quite soothing and sweet also. "Exit 15" by Eban Brown..)

Take some doing to follow in the footsteps of Russell they are some big shoes to fill that is for sure

Eban really represented 4 Lead Singer of the Stylistics for nearly 20 years and sounded excellent following the original Lead Singer, the fabulous Russell Thompkins, Jr. People are still asking 4 Eban 2 return 2 the Stylistics original background Vocalists 4 a Reunion tour. That tells u how well he did following the original Lead Singer.

Yes, Arrion is still hanging in there,but his voice has lost its power. Still tryin' though. Is best when he is part of the ensemble group, not singing a lead role.

well...yes, I have heard them comparing side by side. No mistaking Russell Thomkins' voice, but Eban Brown as a lead vocalist comes 99.5 % to the original. The main difference is that Eban Brown is a more polished, right on cue with those smooth moves. Along with Herb Murrell's comments, they come to 100% better of a performance.
