The shipping container project is expanding to the garden this week! We've got a bunch of friends up on the land here to help, and we are trying to get as much done as possible while the extra hands are in town. Between fixing the tractor, serving up incredible meals, and building garden beds, the days have been long. But with everyone sleeping on the land, there is still so much space for beautiful little moments.
Thank you for all your love and support and for being part of this big crazy project! Starting an off-grid homestead from scratch is no small feat, but it feels possible knowing you're here for the journey!
Big hugs,
Dana

After years of following your journey this is the video where I really feel like "damn, they made it, they reached their dream". Even if "the homestead dream" wasn't always the presented goal while in Ody or Penelope, it was brewing underneeth and shone through some moments. Very happy for you. I wish you all the best!

There’s nothing better than friends visiting to make one appreciate their home and their lifestyle. We, too, have friends arriving today… they are mostly musician friends who have come to hang out, play some music, and enjoy our wilderness home. It’s our local music festival next weekend. My partner is a musician, he will be performing with several different bands. I am a freestyle yoyoist and I will be putting on some yoyo workshops and will also have a small yoyo sales booth. Do you initially get a bit nervous before hosting a bunch of people? I do… but my little worries melt away very quickly after everybody arrives and is settled in. I’m very excited to see what progress comes on your place and the fun that y’all have doing it together. Thanks for today’s video. Wishing you great weather, and lots of summer memories to be made with your friends. Ⓜary🇨🇦🪀🎶

A yoyoist!! Mary that is so cool! And wow, that sounds like such a rich and wonderful time you have ahead of you :) Absolutely agree with you on the initial nerves before hosting but they get melted away by the laughter and joy. Wishing you all a wonderful, creative and fun time together!! Big hugs from all of us x

What an uplifting week for you all; a week of moving forward with a little help from your friends. Max is a charming little boy and clearly a very bright boy too. In those days when there are ‘downers’ remember these days of positivity and wonder and know all will be well. Lou is so very good at overcoming obstacles with an eye to the future. 😊 I would love to hear how the mushrooms are doing - such a worthwhile crop. Do you grow Lions Mané?

Thank you so much for this heartfelt comment ❤ Had the beatles song in my head from the first line, haha! That is such a good reminder to think of these positive and warm days, like a little mental health happy memory folder :) Yes we are so excited to give an update on the mushrooms later this year, so cool to hear you are too! Thanks for putting this big smile on my face with your words... big hugs from all of us!

Hats off to all of your friends that came to help! The homestead was like Richard Scarry's Buzy Town--so much going on. The food looked amazing, Max melts my heart, and my love for you, Max, Lou, and Freja continue to grow as your life unfolds. Can't wait to see what you grow and make. Look forward to your next cookbook!!!!!

We have raised garden beds (for several yeara). You want them to be at least 3 feet to even 4 feet deep. The optimal material is galvanized steel versus wood which will just rot away or get eaten away rather quickly.
