I really enjoyed this book even though it was not perfect, I still had a very fun reading experience and I loved learning about how Will and Nico got together. What did you think about the latest instalment in the Riordanverse?

Okay but can we all agree Nico's brief reunion with Bianca and Maria was such a good way to wrap up the story. Like it was so nice to see him actually get a moment to finally say things he never got to say and be able to move on from Bianca's death at long last. And that hug he gave Hades was so precious, like Hades is truly one of my favorite gods in the series and this just added more points to him.

so many of you would argue that nico was out of character and tartarus was a percabeth thing. but first of all, i don't see it as nico being out of character. i see it as him finally being open about who he really is as a person and being more than an emo child of hades. rick did a really good job helping us see that there's more to nico than an emo son of hades and more to will than being a sunny child of apollo. there is so much more to both of them and we really got to see that in this book. as for tartarus being a percy and annabeth thing only, that's really just close minded. nico had to go down there based on morals and his boyfriend went down there because he didn't want his boyfriend to be alone in that place. it shows that even though tey know the danger they still love each other enough to save a friend TOGETHER. and the tartarus trope doesn't belong to percy and annabeth. they both went through tartarus together for wildly different reasons, but that doesn't make it any less valid. and it's a good thing that their relationship isn't perfect. it shouldn't be. no realtionship is perfect and rick did a great job with that in this book. of course they're going to argue, of course they're going to get angry. rick did a much better job at showing this in this book because love is messy and it's not always perfect. in my opinion rick did a great job and i love him for this book

personally, i thought the scene where nico and piper discussed their sexualities was pretty wholesome and comforting! it definitely did feel like a “let’s shove this in here for brownie points” but it was genuinely reassuring to me, a gay teen. in comparison to other percy jackson books where the word “gay”, “queer”, etc are rarely/never explicitly used, i appreciated the clear message.

honestly I love the book because it gave Will a character instead of just being like a side character or like Nico’s boyfriend and also it showed that their relationship wasn’t perfect and like they both had a lot of character development like when Will was with Persephone and I think it was very cute and I love the part where Persephone said to give Nico’s Wills darkness and Nico started to understand that people can’t know what he’s going through unless he tells people a lot like how they met in the blood of Olympus Will said to Nico that people didn’t push out Nico, but Nico pushed out other people and Nico needs that type of person to bring him back to reality I just loved the book in general

I think it’s an important thing to note that the book wasn’t really mainly about the plot, but the message. It’s obvious right from the starting pages: the dedication. And the dedication starts to make sense when you finish the book. If people didn’t understand the message and the ENTIRE symbolism of Tartarus, that’s a whole different story and they are probably very (fortunately) mentally stable 💀 I don’t understand all the issues with all the Solangelo moments. They’re fifteen and navigating their relationship they’re permitted to be cringey. And Nico is being completely himself when he’s with Will, so when people say he’s out of character they don’t realize that he just being himself. As for other things, it just made sense for their relationship. The whole public confession thing was so important to Nico’s character and to Solangelo’s relationship. As well as the screaming at the trees and the late kiss, because they’re not trying to rush their relationship. They just want to be *themselves.* I’ve loved Will from the beginning. I’ve always loved his very self awareness. He knows people aren’t perfect, but he’s also a good example of how even if we know nobody is perfect, we still beat ourselves up about it. I hope people remember that Tartarus bring out the worst in people and not everyone are saints (even Will believe it or not). And even being in the Underworld already took affect on him. But he’s so relentlessly a *hero.* He really wanted to understand Nico and they were bound to have misunderstandings on such a daunting quest. And with the whole Tartarus as a symbolism for peoples mental health was the *most* important thing. I was bawling by the end of the book, not entirely because of Will and Nico but because of myself. This was a huge slap to the face. A huge depressing hug. Nyx is the relentless darkness inside of you trying to get you to submit to your end (whether that be death or something else) and Bob and Will are the people in your lives who are willing to fight for you. And can also symbolize the life left in you willing to fight. The coco puffs were to remind you that your trauma will always remain with you, it’s your *choice* what to do with it. Choice was such an important thing here. This whole book was just a whole snake in the face, shaking me awake and saying “hey wake up, this is what you can choose to do with your own trauma!” Which brings me back to the dedication. It was to the Nico, Wills, and Pipers. This was Rick’s message to his readers who are struggling to live with their darkness every day. I couldn’t give a shit about the slightly bad writing, or plot that everyone seems to hate. It was about the message for me. And I think Rick intended it to be about the message too. Sorry for this huge gigantic rant, no one is every gonna read this 😭 I literally love all the couple moments between them (that neck kiss almost made me disintegrate Istg Rick) but we all have our own opinions abt this book. I just hope the fandom comes to understand what the ENTIRE book is about. Not just the writing and the plot. Nico and Piper was definitely just thrown in there, and it made sense if u think abt it but I just didn’t really like it 😭 Thank you for sharing your equal opinions on this. Yes the messages were really in your face at some points, but I think it came together really nicely :)

You put into words my exact opinion about the book. There was a hidden message in nearly every page and the whole trip to Tartarus and facing Nyx and stuff was just a huge metaphor to everything you wrote. It might not be the best written, or the book with the most mysterious and exciting plot, but it is by FAR one of the best books I've ever read, and I've read A Lot. It's a book about humanity, just like the Trials of Apollo books, tbh

Yes finally someone who 1000% understands. Most people read a book for the plot it takes a lot more time and effort to read a book and find the meaning of it. Nico’s character development helped me find ways to deal with the darkness inside of me. This book also helped me find people like Will and Bob that love me with all of my issues but are also trying to help me get through those problems. BUT not get over those NO find ways to deal with the trauma and how to use what I learned when I was going through that to help others. (And ps it takes guts to put all of this out there knowing that people have different opinions. And I wish that people would beginning to say it is not about the plot but the messages the author is trying to convey. Because at the end of the day that is what a book of for right?)

@@sophiaalfaro8394 yes!!! It’s always important to try and observe every aspect of the book before judging it, because you want to try and find the author’s true intent. People might be judging a book based off of something that isn’t even the main focus. In this case, judging the plot while the main focus is the message. It sets a bad rep for the book. These kinds of books cater to a specific audience. The audience that needs the message, not the audience that reads it for the plot.

@@Pa_t1nn One of my friends saw all the bad reviews for this book and no longer wanted to read the book. I convinced him to read it. A couple days later he came to and we had a very deep conversation and how this book makes him and me feel seen and like we can change and grow and find ways to make the world a better place by using all we learned from the trauma. It truly pains me to think that someone would no read a book because some people fail to look at the big picture and see how this could be affecting them or someone in there live. This book also did an amazing job at showing how you can’t get rid of all the trauma you must find ways to live with it and harness the good that can come from it in the long run. OPINION TIME: i think solangelo is overrated. My main problems with it is its fundamentals. No matter how cute their relationship is, or their relationship dynamic of a dark guy and an all bright guy, they lack the fundamental ideas. I know this book may have expanded upon their dynamic before dating (i dont fully know as I haven’t read the book, or plan on reading it), but i still have the problem of the relationship coming out of know where. A BOOK should not have to set up development of a relationship before their dating, after the dating and relationship had already been set up over 5 years priorly. Their relationship would be so much better if instead of them randomly flirting out of no where in BoH, they should have set up a friendship in BoH and had the development happen during the ToA. We NEED to see development of a couple before they start dating. I honestly dont see how this couple is rated as an OTP, especially over percabeth. The creation of percabeth, was a absolute PERFECTION. They had FIVE, FIVE fricken books of development before dating. They are my favourite couple ever, in ANY form of media. Percabeth had the perfect fundamentals for a relationship. Solangelo is LEAGUES worse in fundamentals and other important parts of a relationship. To me, and this is just my opinion, solangelo was Rick Riordans way of quickly rushing out LGBTQ representation, effectively destroying any proper development for the relationship prior to their dating. Thank you for listening to my ted talk

I think I am the few who really appericate the Nico’s friendship with Piper scene. It was soooo annoying when everyone was like Piper never love Jason, their realtionship is so fake blah blah blah. There 5 book on their realtionship and how much they love each other. Yet her being into girl make people/fan think their 5 book relationship is fake???? Bi people are real and glad Rick clear up Piper story. I love Piper and Jason so having closure for their realtionship was beautiful. I also agree with Nico. It was mess up he never contact Piper. He knew how much Jason love her and since they are best friend, the least he could do was call her up and see if she OK. Jason would have wanted that, for them to be there for each other. I didn;t think it was perachy or weird or anything. I think it fit the story very well and was a beautiful scene. (maybe not to most fan since everyone just hate on Jason and Piper so much for mostly stupid reason) After realzing how much he push people away, Nico finally able to open up to Piper about Jason. Which is huge for Nico since he doesn;t open up much especially about something so personal like the lost of his best friend.

I also loved how Solangelo's relationship was written, I think it was very realistic and it was satisfying to see them work through their issues. The book handled topics like relationships, grief, trauma, moving on, identity etc. well in my opinion and it's really great to have that stuff in a book for middle schoolers, I bet it helped a lot of kids with figuring stuff out. I went to tsats tour in SF today and am about halfway through the book. I’d honestly thought it was sort of mehhh compared to some of Rick’s other works but I think we kinda have to take a step back and see the bigger picture of why it was written and sort of what it was written with in terms of the authors and their talents. Obviously it’s a book sort of made to supposedly cater to us fans but seeing Mark and Rick speak about it it’s sort of obvious that it was more of a passion project to lay anything and everything Nico and Will on the table. I think Mark was definitely carrying their weird mix of fantasy and realism to the table that they usually have in their writing and didn’t necessarily realize that that’s not what the more one sided fans were wanting and Rick just kinda went along Mark cuz he trusts Mark’s intuition when it comes to queer people. Overall I do think it’s a pretty great book just not a traditional Rick book with the styling and plot as Mark did write the first draft which can be disappointing to people who wanted something different. After seeing them on tour I think the authors are very happy with it and that’s the most I can ask for.

this video is old old but I just re-read this book and needed to express my anger at it 😭 there were a lot of super cute parts in it and I loved Nico and Wills relationship. and I loved the fact that they argued like any normal couple would in a stressful situation- so it was super realistic. my problem was with the way they got together. I don't know why rick thought it would make sense for Nico to ask will out in front of the camp considering will wasn't out yet- its like a full 360 to the cupid moment, even though it was a mistake it just felt weird to me. what was even WEIRDER was the first kiss? like why would Will kiss Nico when he's processing another person he loves death? it just doesn't make any sense that Will would do that or that Nico would even be happy about it. I feel like its more of an issue on Ricks part because I don't know what he was thinking writing that. it sucks that those were the building blocks to their relationship- and that both big moments in their relationship are low-key weird. but I think if we all collectively ignore that those bits it was a good book and Nico and Will are super cute together so 😜

I liked the book. Yes there were a few moments where I had to redo my headcanon (like I would have thought Will, could at least handle some kind of weapon, like on an average level, because healing alone doesn't get you out of the monsters clutches, or trough a game of capture the flag) mostly because we had years to establish that (and new middle graders won't). I also felt this was a book about, mental/emotional evolution, challenge. There is no world ending threat, no war looming. It's a personal quest of two heroes after three wars, to learn to live a 'normal' life as teenagers. They are on home turf and (especially Nico) can people who are already on their side (from previous encounters). I think that it was very in character for Will to make mistakes (like leaving Nico under the boat) and Nico kinda forgetting that Will wouldn't nessecaryly be aware of the best course of action. Because unlike Nico (and unlike Percabeth in Taterus) Will hasn't the expirience of past quests to fall back on.

Alright, this is gonna be long. So, I really liked the flashbacks to Gorgyra. I loved the stories that they told her, I loved everything with Gorgyra. When it comes to the plot, I thought it was okay. I enjoyed it, but I thought it was sort of basic. I didn’t love the conflict with Nyx, and I think it could’ve made a bit more sense. I really disliked the whole thing with her children, and I wish we’d seen more about them. I was also sort of annoyed with what happened with the Nyx battle scene. It was really short and anti-climactic, especially when they all turned on Nyx. Like, all of a sudden they just changed their minds? It doesn’t make sense to me. As far as parallels go, I loved the subtle references and the incredibly obvious ones. I totally agree with you on the Percabeth thing, I hated that they used the ship name! It really bugged me too. As far as characters go, I was fine with Chiron and Dionysus, but it still felt a bit different than normal. Now, with Will, I sort of agree with you. I definitely felt very differently about him after this book, but it wasn’t necessarily bad. It wasn’t necessarily good either, it was just different. I still liked him, but he feels like a brand new character to me. He has a lot more depth now, and I’m here for it. With the whole “fixing Nico” thing, I loved it. It was super accurate for his character. Now, when it comes to Nico, I really liked it. It didn’t necessarily feel like 10 year old Nico, but he really felt like himself. I love how he changed. I think it worked really well, and I was very satisfied. I personally thought that the inner demons thing was kind of dumb, but it’s not a huge deal for me. When it comes to Nico being snappy, Will was not being a jerk. He’s literally a child on the sun god, of course he’s gonna be miserable in the underworld! On the topic of Solangelo, how dare you call it cringe. They’re teens, it’s supposed to be sappy. Chill out. I also really enjoyed the handholding and tender moments stuff. I also thought the thing with Bob crying in the background was absolutely hilarious!! So good! I also agree that it did what it was supposed to, be a somewhat cheesy romance book. Now, Nico’s friendship with Piper. I thought it was pretty useless, I don’t really get why it happened. On the topic of it being preachy, I see where your coming from but I didn’t really mind it. I do sort of agree with you on the representation thing. It seemed really forced and pointless at certain parts. Like with the non-binary demon, why did that exist? For what reason did that exist? On the topic of the Persephone’s garden thing, I also thought that it was really sweet. Overall, I really liked the book, I thought it was really cute, but a little forced at parts. Loved this video! No, the problem of this book is, if the book is about small story, it should not have a terrible background. Just like people complained when Leo is mad at Percy because of Calypso when the world is about to end. HOH is one of the most loved book, Huge part of it is because it has really good writing on Tartarus, and this book kind of ruined it. Therefore, it is easy to get hated.

OMGS YESSSS!!! I love will solace sooo much! He was my fave character before this book, yeah, big flex loll. and YES, Will is VERY COMPLEX, but we don't really see him much until TSATS, but he is a very good character. Whenever I see Will depiected in fanfic, he's either this sun shiny ball of happiness 24/7 or suuuper angsty, or just flat out a jerk. I'm always shaking my head at that. Will, if I had to describe him, is snappy and sassy and still kind and caring. He is not taking front stage in a battle, but he is not weak. He has his concerns but will not let anyone hurt the people he love. Honestly, Will just needs to be explored more, and I can understand why people would think will is a jerk, but I also think those people as seeing it the same way as Nico. Will is trying to *help* nico, but people are ignoring that and saying he's inconsiderate and is a bad character. It's much the difference between 'being friendly' and 'flirty'. They look the same, but it comes down to intention, and I'm that some people don't see that. Obviously, this is alll my opinion, so yeah!

It did answer some of the questions I had about Nico since the Trials of Apollo, like how he and Will end up together and how Nico actually survived Tartarus. I'll admit, as compared to Riordan's other books this one's much simpler. And it brought back so many memories of Camp Half Blood (I read the Tower of Nero back in 2020, so for me it's been a long time). And I was happy that my favourite couple was getting a standalone book. And we also got to see so many cute moments between Will and Nico. For a new reader, like maybe an 11 or 12 year old and exploring their identity, this book might be able to start their journey. Overall I would give it an 8.4 ( Hey don't you think the ending did not actually feel like the end? I get a feeling we'll get more out of this ).

Gonna be honest, i hope that we get a Piper book after that last part!! Idk, it just gave me some hope for it! I did think we'd get more from the riordanverse in it, but that is probably just me wishing that Alex and Magnus could meet Nico and Will (maybe some day...) after reevaluating my expectations about halfway through, I loved it!! I did find it weird we werent in tartarus for longer, but it does make sense it took so long honestly. Percabeth went in by accident, fell in at a weird point in time. Solangelo had to look for it and it took a while. Also, something small is the new enby characters added, and i felt there was more casual POC representation mentioned every once in a while compared to usually? Idk how to explain it. But yes, very good. A pageturner.

Didn’t like solangelo before this book, might’ve still been team Percy/nico even if it sank ages ago. I enjoyed their interactions since they felt more … real to me then in trials of Apollo . My only real grip was the ranch bearded thinking they’d be judged for their boyfriend over dating a giant, since the series has gone on record saying that in the world of gods sexuality isn’t weird. All in all it was a powerful book and it warmed my heart seeing nico get a w/ moment to be happy and have closure… that and getting popcorn, watching the orientation has its perks.

It's a Solangelo book, not an every character in Percy Jackson's universe book. Ofc I would also love to see a return of all our beloved characters, but you can't really expect Rick to fit all of them into one single book, right? Personally, I think that would have been cramped and heavy with cameos that would be likely unnecessary for the story itself.

Tartarus didn't seem scary in this book to be honest. Definitely not as scary as in the House of Hades. Where is the ground made of sharp pieces of glass? Where is the need to drink fire because the air is toxic? And where are monsters that aren't instantly defeated by a glowing cat? Great book besides this. There were a couple of errors though like Bianca veing in Elysium instead of being reborn. Ow and they confuse The Phletegon and The Acheron when they are standing on the cliff in the end. imo it was great. Yeah, their moments were cheesy but I feel like most teenager relationships are like that tbh. ppl say cheesy, corny things tto each other as a way of showing affection-there's nothing wrong with that. Also the cheesiness shown between the two is cute and oml if i were reading at a table i would've flipped it out of excitment-anywayyy i like how there are flaws in the relationship, added to the realisticness. I feel like the preachy vibes were an attempt to lighten up the dark mood of the story in general, because this is definitely one of the more darker rick riordan books within the pjo universe, or it could be a form of the two author's styles colliding idk. the children thing was uh. weird. my mind went to interesting places as soon as i read that one line, uh, i feel like they could've named the children smth other than..well.. children, im not gonna lie i was reminded of those memes where a protagonist shows a positive pregnancy test-i do get the reasoning behind the 'children' thing though. it was a message to all ppl with demons that those demons aren't you, but rather they shape you as you unknowingly 'raise them' which leads to their 'development'-like how nico;s grief over his sister later leads to self-isolation and worsening his mental health', in that way, you could say the demons are nico's children. ANd when nico 'lets them go,' it symbolizes him accepting the fact that they aren't him, they don't give him his existence and sense of self, they just shape him (LIKe i said before) ..i think this is my interpertation at least, sorry im not making anyway sense 12:00 AM idk what im writing but yea . i like how flawed the characters are individually too. and yeah okay so maybe tartarus is a percabeh thing blah blah blah i really don't care, nico went through it first so technically it should be HIS thing with that logic. BUt also is it really that bad, rick riordan slapped one of the most known ships into hell, so why not do it again for the gays? Plus the plots different, thepercabeth in hell arc ended with an implication that bob's story wasn't quite finished, and considering the books were heavy on saying that percy deserved a break, i don't see how this is a surprise to many people or a bothered by the fact that this story landed on solangelo specfically, plus nico has a connection with bob so it makes sense, and will insisting to tag along despite the dangers adds up to his character siginficant or minor. i respect the opinions of those who don't exactly like how solangelo thrown is into tartarus bc that's a 'percabeth thing', but that doesn't mean i understand it cuz i don't-( and tartarus is an interesting place imo and should definitely have more stories surrounding it cuz why not) also to anyone who says solangelo is being cringy in this book, im sorry but pls they just went through literal hell and suffered multiple traumatic flashbacks and tried to repair the flaws in their relationship and did their best to communicate with each other and faced a primordial god and almost died countless times, let them be 'cringy' and idiots in love in peace-

Great reaction to the book! I agree with most things you said. I think just the different style of the book and the fact that its not some "saving the world" story and more of a metaphorical journy had some people a bit confused. Extra things I did not really like: - Nyx who's suppose to be the scariest god off them all didn't feel scary enough for me and I think its cause she sounded so angry, People get angry cause they are out of control. I would have enjoyed a calm, collected and intimidating Nyx better. - I think its kinda sad that u have to read 15 books to fully understand this one. Most of the references went over my head honestly... (its been years since I have read pj and hoo) What I loved: - Will and Nico aren't perfect and they both have flaws - That this was a personal journey and not one for the sake of the whole planet. - the persephone scene, the Hades scene, and the coin/ ring thing - that somehow the book was readable, it didn't feel like a heavy and slow read which it totally could have been because of the theme of the book. In the end the book was much better then I thought it would be. And it gave me the happy feelings. For that alone I'm glad that I've read it.

But also I loved TSATS it was very middleschoolerish and at times was very clear that Rick Riordian wasn't a huge part of writing it but nevertheless it was written very well and I couldn't help fangirling every time they were with that one river person that asked for stories -idk the name- but it was so wholesome when Nico met with Bianca and Maria it may or may not of made me cry... But anyway it was such a good way to wrap up the book and speaking of the end of the book when Nico and Will fell asleep in the Apollo cabin with the Cocopuffs, like omg I need fanart rn!

I really agree with pretty much everything you said, I enjoyed the book a lot. Even though it wasn’t perfect, that’s a ridiculous expectation, especially for a book like this. I’ll comment late but I didn’t like the book. I was alright with the relationship arc and the problems they faced in tartarus being more emotional and mental instead of like Percy and Annabeth’s trip. But I couldn’t get over the fact that will can do anything more than barely walk around down there, they just swim in the river of pain essentially, and their minds aren’t instantly snapped looking at Nyx’s place. Everything about all that was just too much of a stretch for me and took me out of the book because at some point absolutely nothing will kill them or be a real threat. Also Will said adios to Hazel right before she went to Alaska and dipped to Tartarus and Thanatos knew he was captured when they freed him. How was he down there longer than Percy and Annabeth who were there for like what a month? And he went in and he didn’t make it out the first time. He was captured and brought out by Gaea who was controlling the doors of death. I was shocked everyone treated it like he’d pulled a Kronos and rose out all on his own and it’d be no problem getting out again

Since, so many people have given their opinion on this book here, using this comment section as their review platform, it's time for me to give mine too... I've completed the book just yesterday so I suppose the feels are still real. First off, coming from a really simple Indian society, this same gender relationship is not something common.I was worried I would be weirded out by this. But, it felt really natural. Another thing many people point out is the inconsistency in Nico's character. But, Are you consistent? Like I am a teen, And I am not consistent to who I was yesterday. But, how do you expect someone who's been through soo much to be consistent. Sure, this story had some cringey moments but teens are supposed to be cringey right. I feel the real problem wasn't with the plot but the pacing rather. It took more than half the book to just enter tartarus but NYX was suddenly defeated . They could have divided this book into two parts or evenly paced the whole book. I feel like the last part instead of Piper and Nico could have been a Percy, Annabeth and Bob reunion which would have fit the narrative better. This book was a tribute to all the Nico's, Wills and Pipers, and it achieved that purpose My overall rating is 7.5/10 , a decent book completely rereadable.

lmao the tsats chaos in tumblr is so #onbrand (i love it) but i get how some people love it and some people hate it. like solangelo was very cute (the neck kiss sent me-) and so many of my headcanons came true (still mad that will didnt get a gun tho) but a lot of the narrative seemed a bit like it was just there for the sake of being there (piper :/) and a lot of the things were there mostly for plot convenience or brownie points as for will being ooc, i feel like the main problem is that we dont get enough of his character before this book to actually determine what is IN character for him, though i do agree that the writing for him was quite inconsistent at times. also, it felt like everything in his pov (memories, experiences, thoughts, insecurities) are all revolved around nico and not himself as a character almost like he didnt exist outside of nico (which, at a literary perspective, isnt wrong) but still. in an interview somewhere mark said that he didnt really know what to do with will, which explains a lot tbh. also, there are a lot of inconsistencies in the writing overall (not just writing style but the way the characters are written too) and unresolved plot points that they just seemed to gloss over (nyx’s children, will’s arc, damasen?) but i dont think anyone was really expecting this book to be totally groundbreaking either so i did enjoy it, but not the best work ever on the authors side.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion. But, there are a lot of parts in the story that felt like the book could do without it. Like it was only written to prolong the story and felt like something from a fanfic. But don't get me wrong. I do love Solangelo. I think they're perfect for each other and I love that they got a book of their own. I was just so worried that this would be like another "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" case. Thankfully it didn't go down that road. I guess I was just so used to the Riordanverse written by Rick himself that this book throws me off a bit. Still I enjoyed reading a new story to the Riordanverse.

I loved the book, but i still have some criticism concerning Will. I feel like Will kind of has an actual reason to not like the underworld if it literally literally is out to get him. And i'm not sure if it's a fair thing to point out since it is nico di angelo adventure, but will doesn't have enough focus. Will was THE battlemedic throught two wars so has seen some shit and from apollo cabin which was cut in half in campers. I'm so annoyed there didn't seem to be anything on that. Realistically will should already accept what death is. And don't get me started on how Will giving a primordial being who doesn't have a face or lungs a hay fever. That has to be ridiculously powerful if directed at a mortal or even a demigod an THEN it isn't even mentioned ever again. Neither of them say anything about it when they recount the experience to everyone. Also, concerning Nico's nightmares, i could have sworn that in Boo nico says something about mostly being able to travel between dreams and that was how he met clovis in some dream place and could see the head coulcelor meeting and describe Will for the first time.

I can understand why people might have different opinions about this book, but personally I went into the book with an open mind, ready for anything because this is not a Rick Riordan solo book, but I gave the book a chance and I really enjoyed it, sure, it’s not HoH but it’s still a good book. Obviously different because it has another author. But no matter what I stan Solangelo, I love them and I think it was a beautiful book overall even if I did miss ricks writing style. Also was I the only one waiting for Jason to show up somewhere in the book?

1. I still can't get past the scene where they make out in front of a sobbing Bob. 2. Bianca being there even though she chose rebirth. Nico even says, "arent you in Elysium?" And shes like, "yep." But she isn’t???? 3. "We made a mistake. You have to fix it." Percy "loyalty is my fatal flaw" Jackson would never. Those tidbits aside, my main issue is that I think the book was poorly written and constructed. I'm not a professional by any means, but this is why co-authoring is not always the best option. And overall I'm not a fan of Mark Oshiro's writing. At all. I've read some of their works before, and I don't like their style. I also feel I should say if you liked the book, no hate or shame to you. Like what you like, and vice versa.

to add on to the percabeth comment I felt that line was OOC to the writers and speaking of which did anyone else caught that error where Nico told Nyx his mom is Bianca? or is it just my book? that part had me like HUH?! and the part where he addressed his mother by her first name I got super confused and weirded out since he calls Maria Momma (I would not call my mom by her first name) that was the only thing that bothered me reading this book and how no one caught that name mistake?

As a member of the target audience for this book I have to say, they were almost too mature at some points for me when I first read it but once I reread it I realized it’s because both Nico and Will (do different extents) had to grow up to fast so they were very mature on the outside but more their age

I just finished reading it, and idk how to feel. My main problem is the style of writing, and maybe its the fact that im an adult and the book is for younger kids, but yeah I think I would enjoy it a lot more if the level of writing was a bit more mature. The plot was nice, and the stuff with Nico's development was okay, but again I wish it was leaded a bit diffrently. I think that all queer stuff was really needed, and talk with Piper was nice I really liked it, and I think that a lot of queer kids will find it comforting. Tho if I didn't have a sentiment for the series I probably would give it up after first chapters, I can't even say why, but somethin put me off about it. Younger kids should enjoy it a lot tho!

the story just felt flat to me didn't have the stakes or punch to it that the earlier books had and felt more fan fiction writing than rick writing the book , I felt like rick did not need a co author to write the book since rick as written lgbtq kids quite well in the past and one scene that did my head in was nico meeting with Menoetes because some dialogue was forced and sterotycal between them. the best moments was when will got caught by Persephone had me laughing and hynpos hiding away was funny and nico seeing his mum and sister again was nice touch signalling him moving on

no, it's a standalone, but I would recommend reading that and heroes of Olympus, because a lot of the critique revolves around it being 'inconsistent' and things like it. Not needed, but it would help you judge how good the book really is. Hope this helps!!
