Buddy of mine has 2 SDDN 18s on a pit bull 20K. Be prepared to recone ‘em if you got massive power. The paper cone isn’t strong enough to withstand the motor force. Blew the voice coil straight thru the dust cap

That's way too much power. I'm all about putting the power to them but a pitbull 20k? A 10k with a proper enclosure would be the way to go. I bet his enclosure is larger than recommend too. Of course he blew them. Lol

@@LeonD519 Just because a amp is 20k doesn't mean he is pushing full 20k RMS to them 🤦🏻‍♂️ Thats why you have gain etc to control how much power you want going to them. He could have only had 8k going through them at full tilt 🤦🏻‍♂️ I guarantee if he has the money and knowledge for 2 of these subs, a 20k and all the electrical for a 20k he knows how to set everything up so it matches power and without distortion 🤦🏻‍♂️

@@LeonD519 That doesn’t make sense. Distortion and overpower should always lead to voice coil failure if the sub is well built, not a cone failure.

I ordered the SDDN 15 to replace my half blown X15 v2. There's no enclosure specifications that I can find. Will my 4.25 cu ft ported enclosure be fine for the SDDN 15?

The nightshade are a neo magnet motor and the sddn are ferrite and just two totally different woofers in everyway.

@@stephancobb13 got it from Down 4 Sound last Saturday with a JP83 amp. The amp is way more power than I need, but I'll run it at 2 ohms in a 2017 Sierra Crew Cab. I'm thinking is making a video of the box build and outcome for people who are curious what one can do

Imo any Sundown from X (I run a 12 XV2) and up is pure 100% SPL. If you want musical (SQ) Nothing beats a JL W7. If you want SQL maybe look at some SSA Subs.

@ginngo9699 I don't think anyone cares about beating a w7. I think people are more impressed with Sundown. If they were, they would make a sub with a soft spider and use the same cone material as JL.

@@carlospacheco8640the “w7 for SQ” shit died out a long ass time ago. But Audio fudds wont let it die. Not a single championship SQ build uses a W7. Whys that? Oh! Because it’s not a fucking SQ sub. The W6 is an SQ sub. Jesus Christ. The Zv5 actually won world championships for SQ and SPL at IASCA. How does that feel buddy?

@@brianrich7828 I run a Sundown X12 V2 btw "buddy" and I have been listen to subs in cars for over 30 years. My Sundown cannot play (House/Techno for example) for shit compared to my old ass Alpine Type-R. Nothing has ever played ALL genres of music as clear as a W7. IDGAF about competitions. I care what I have HEARD with my own ears. Buddy.

Just run an amp to each coil. Then you can stay at 1 ohm. Gain match by matching the speaker output voltage. If I had an SUV I'd buy the 18. Shit, if I had an SUV I wouldn't have any money left to buy one. Lol
