For bang for the buck the SKAR stuff is hard to beat, yes there are lots of better speakers out there but when you compare in price range they shine. Im running a SKAR EVL-15 and SKAR 1500.1 as a downsize from old dual 12 box and very happy for a sub $500 setup

That’s amps a gem forsure I Would definitely get one given the chance but i would say that sundowns Salt series amps are very efficient also they came along way they do rated rms power all day even in lower volts like 12.4 does rated all day n plus if u got good electrical your getting plus some but again everything good come at a cost .

I just bought the SKAR zvx 2 15" and thier armored spl box. It's powered by my RockfordFosgate T1500 1bdcp I wanted to make sure it had enough power. It's amazing. It's in my subaru imprezza and I used to have 2 15" RF P3s in separate boxes. I may go back to them because the sound quality was better. The skar is louder I think... but I noticed right away it doesn't like to hit the highs around 40+ hz may be my sub sonic tuning though. My P3s played every note loudly and made a ton of bass. So I think I'll get a dual 15 box and do 1ohm. They rms at 1200 and the amp does 1700+ at 13.9

I run Sundown in my truck, but nothing like that beast! Run a Rythmik G25HP for home theater SPL. Dual opposing 15" direct-servo driven subs in the same sealed enclosure setting in the corner behind my sectional. It'll clear the pictures off the walls during a big action scene for sure.

Pretty cool comparison, but the Sundown also costs $600 more than the Skar. I'm not a Skar lover just saying lol. Do you think the Skar is worth the $350 ish it sales for? And outstanding point made on the mounting flange portion of the basket, why the heck is it not bigger?

I've been a bass head since the 90s skar is good stuff I run 4 10s in my f250 people shit when I turn it up totally hidden with cab amplifiers 5 years no problems

Thats been my issue for cars and trucks especially .The boxes and speakers become a hazard especiallly at highways speed or off road ..In a home stereo the speaker stays put and doesnt bounce around .In DJ equipment and concert equipment the same issue occures because the speakers are transported and bounced around and droppoed the issue becomes apparent .The wood will fail because the screws pull through and the speaker loosens up .The heaver the driver the worse it gets .Horns can get banged up as well .Especailly when you see the length from the front to the magnet at the back .Its just like a leaver .MDF and HDF are great speaker box materials but not very strong and dont like mositure ! 29:25

Sundown can handle double rms all day long. I've been running two sundown 12's on double rms rating for 2 years now. They stunk at first but that went away after a week or so.

TRUTHFULLY if you watch barvids you know the amplifier repair dude from England? He did a video not to long ago, where he compared this exact jbl crown and vs a taramps i think 8k. Well he made a very clever switching device that allows him to switch from one amp to the other uninterrupted and he test it on himself as well as other random people and guess what?? Nobody could tell the difference from one so called hi fidelity jbl amp and one so called crappy Brazilian amp. Thats how far we have come in the sound department. Not to mention the taramps bass 8k put out nearly twice the power that big heavy crown amplifier put out and did it with 1/16 the price. You dont believe me go watch it on KZfaq put in taramps vs jbl crown.

You get what you pay for. Compare sundown and skar in the same price range. The ZVX-12 and the SA v.2 series are in the same price range at the current time. Opposed to the almost 3x price difference in the zv.6

I enjoy both hobbies. I have sundown SA V2 in my car and a Dak on my desk lol.

My Last System was Three Alpine Type R 10" Subs with Three seperate 1000w Kenwood Amplifiers in my 1996 Honda Civic 4 Door with 9 Switches & 3 wheel motion. Air Cylinders. I could spell those coils if I turned those 3 amps up all the way.... thay was my first car that NEVER HAD a rattle...not even one.

Not sure. 700.00 for the sundown or 320.00 for the SKAR. If money was no object and I could buy any sub, id just get the Orion HCCA splx 12" sub. Granted its not as big as that custom sub, its only 168lbs, and is only good for 30,000 watt burps or 7500 rms. But, its pretty economical. Almost free even.

Other than letters and numbers in the name and model these are not comparable at all. One is $300 bucks and the other is almost a grand. What if you grouped 3 skars vs the sundown which is about the same cost. The come area would rule this. Love the videos though.

The zvx compares with the u-series or v.2 that's it the zv6 is a 800 dollar speaker for a reason but the u and v.2 is slightly better than skar but they the same size so you are comparing way diff speakers

It would cost too much in money to remake the baskets. Separate subs for regular buyers versus spl guys. Most days in the spl world the idea is to get the subs as close as possible in the same area. The further apart you spread them the more things change and over all the less amount of cone mass you can fit in one area.

The Sundown basket was designed and patented by Jacob. The Skar basket is a Chinese knockoff, that is tweaked slightly to avoid infringement on Jacobs design. However, the Skar gear will get the job done if you don't want to spend a ton on other more expensive brands.

This guy dont know what hes talking about. Motor size isnt everything. Also theres different grades of ferrite, and motor structure. a small motor can have more force than a big motor. Also the zvx has a 10” spider just like a z series or x. Also the zvx has pretty much the same motor as the sundow xv1. Still sundowns better, but this guy is full of it bet he hasnt ever reconed or built a custom woofer.
