Plot:
Peach uses an Ice Flower smuggled into her bouquet to freeze Bowser and the winch, holding down his army and lowering the prisoners. Mario and Donkey Kong arrive and free the prisoners, with Mario using a Tanooki Suit to save Luigi. An enraged Bowser frees himself and summons a nuclear Bomber Bill to destroy the Mushroom Kingdom, but Mario knocks it off course and directs it into the Warp Pipe where it detonates, creating a vacuum that causes everyone and Bowser's castle to be transported to Brooklyn.

One thing I love about this movie is that the entire movie plays out like a 3d game but then they can show a scene at an angle showing a 2d shot paying a classic tribute to 2d games

Bob Hoskins actually hated Mario and didn't really cared about it, nor does he ever played video games in general or even known what Mario is all about. Read all the behind the scenes stories, Bob never even heard of Super Mario Bros prior before agreeing to be in the 1993 movie all because he knew 2 of the writers who worked on one of the earlier drafts of the script.

Mario is Nintendo's most popular series, so of course it made them a lot of money. Also, since it's a cartoon instead of a live-action movie like the one in 1993, they could use more stuff from the games and change the story so they can make more movies.

The movie reminds us of the Avengers, Mario becomes Captain America, Donkey Kong as Black Panther, Toad as War-Machine, Peach is Nick Fury, and Luigi also is the Falcon.
