Christmas Mageddon, festive annihilator, merry billion eyed beast of the abyss to you all!

Mageddon is actually quite a beautiful narrative, Grant Morrison has said he created the character as a representation of the depression he experienced after his fathers death. And the justice league defeating it was symbolic of him coming to terms with the loss of father.

So basically he's one of the biggest villains no one ever heard of? They're actually quite nice to see, since, well, we can't always have Darksied invading the Earth.

i actually like the fact that mageddon has never appeared again, it makes this universal war feel more climactic

The graphic novel collection of this story was the first comic book I ever read. Even as a kid, the sheer power and terror the Mageddon weapon displayed scared the crap out of me. All these heroes I had watched on the DC Animated Universe shows were less than ants compared to the super weapon, the god killer. But hope prevailed. Not just the Justice League, but every man and woman of planet Earth, even the angels themselves, stood united against this primordial threat, and through that unity found the courage and willpower to face this nameless fear. Chills. Absolute chills. Such a great story. In some ways, I'm kinda thankful that it hasn't ever really been brought up again. I just feel like they wouldn't be able to do it, well, justice.

I could see him being brought back as one of the beings Perpetua was trying to evolve humans to overcome. They could just say that was just a fraction of his true power, it being something like dark Seid or just a weapon like you said.

Bring these gems back, they should stomp this new guy( the darkest night/Batman who laughs). I don’t think Batman who laughs is terrible character but he could have been handled better in my opinion.

The panel of Joe Chill killing Mars and Krypton is one of my absolute favorites in all of comics. How beautifully the grief of three men is interweaved and how they overcome it. World War 3 is an excellent story and an awesome ending to the best JLA run.

FINALLY. I always saw this name referenced here and there but couldn't find much about him on any websites/fandom, even though he felt like such an intimidating DC villain. Thank you for making this❤️

I know it's bad form to cross franchises, but I think this story is very similar to the Wheel of Time's 100 companions attack on Shayol Gul led by Lews Therin. (Not identical, but if they failed) They make super weapons and try to defeat the dark one, but all they can do is seal it away. The anti-energy takes a huge toll on the men who fought, that Lews Therin couldn't handle alone, so all of the male energy becomes corrupted. If superman was driven insane by the anti-sun, that's pretty damn close to WOT.

Well put together video Parrott. There’s just one problem. What you said about Darkseid. Yes Maggedon may be physically more powerful than Darkseid on average but if you think even for a moment this event scared him or threatened him you are sadly mistaken. Yes Darkseid may not have been more powerful than Maggedon and yes he’s not as smart as someone like a Metron but in combat and in military warfare and strategy he is easily one of if not the most witty New God. He was literally going to neg/survive Perputa destroying all of creation everything from the source wall to the microverse would have been destroyed, yet Darkseid and all of apoklips would have survived. The way he would have done this is he made a dimension called the ghost sector that exists outside of creation/the source, and in the event that creation would have ceased to exist, he would have used a motherbox and access the dimension via boom tube and transfer himself all of apoklips and it’s inhabitants out of creation and basically would have survived the end of all of existence. Now before someone tries to argue with me ask yourself one question do you think Maggedon scales to Perputa at all? Just a little food for thought is all.
