Thank you all for being here! Part II is going to go live this Wednesday. A bit more information on what a chorbaji is: "In several predominantly Christian areas of the Ottoman Empire, such as the current North Macedonia, Serbia and Bulgaria, as well as many parts of Eastern Anatolia, the term chorbaji (Macedonian and Serbian: чорбаџија, čorbadžija; Bulgarian: чорбаджия, chorbadzhiya Western Armenian: չորպաճի "ch'orbaji") was also as used as a title for (Christian) members of the rural elite, heads of villages and other rural communities and rich peasants. The Ottomans employed them in various administrative positions, such as that of tax collector and in courts of law. Since the 19th century in independent Bulgaria, the term largely fell out of use as the Ottoman system was abandoned. During Ottoman rule the word τσορμπατζης (pronounced chorbajis) was used with the meaning of "mayor" in the Greek Christian communities in the whole area of Thrace and in Western Asia Minor. The word is still in use in vernacular Turkish and Bulgarian with the meaning of "boss"."

The word "Çorbacı" actually means soupmaker in Turkish, in some cases as soup provider. When poor people needed to eat, they would also see these Çorbacıs to seek alms so they could at least afford to eat soup once a day.

You have outdone yourself! The cover being cut from a single piece must have been very challenging. I’ve done a gate binding with two book attached with a single back board, and I had a hard time getting the leather to cooperate. I celebrate you and your family’s success on this project!

@@Stopan I’ve got a lot of lore built up around what will (hopefully) materialize into either related novels and short stories, or into a tabletop roleplaying game. Or both! My origin mythology is based strongly on the Sumerian creation story, and your 3-in-1 book-amulet reminded me of the powerful “3 Tablets of Destiny” that Tiamat gave to her son Kingu, greatest of monsters, to use in battle to avenge her mate, the Abyss. Marduk, the king of the new gods who had slain their father, killed the great monster and wore the 3 Tablets of Destiny as a chest-piece afterwards.

@@Redbeardblondie I took some time today to research what you told me and I just want to say thank you! Honestly, I had no idea of this myth and learning about it has convinced me for the 100th time, that there really isn't nothing new under the sun. The whole day I've been thinking how the idea for a triple book around the neck came not from my original idea but for some kind of unconscious impulse. Really fascinating! Hope you find your success with this ambitious project! If my work can have a small part of it, all the better! Best wishes!
