Matt does the deal and takes the Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive out for a spin. See him wind it up on the highway to test the overall speed and feel of a scooter on the highway. Take a seat, and check out what we find as Matt goes through the paces. Happy Riding!

After years of riding cruisers, arthritis in both hands, and gout in my left foot made it impossible to enjoy riding anymore. However I recently retired, and really wanted to get back in the wind. One of my friends bought a Burgman 650 (which I never heard of), and said take it for a ride. I bought a low mile one owner Executive less than a week later. Plenty of power, super comfortable, lots of carry space, reliable, quiet, and no clutch or shifting. This thing crushes the highway with a smooth steady ride and long wheelbase. And it’s perfect for secondary roads as well with the simple twist and go. I was blown away with the power and acceleration which was more than an 883 sporty I once owned. I’ve already taken it on several long trips and it’s behaved perfectly. Great bike if you’re caught in the rain as well. The windshield and fairings seem to keep most of the water off you. In my 67yrs this may be the best purchase I’ve ever made. Absolutely zero regrets.

I have a 2017 Burgman 650. Just got back from a 2400 mile round trip from Texas to the twisties in Colorado. An absolute blast to ride the whole time. Handled the curves beautifully. Rode a few gravel roads like the Burgman was meant for them (admittedly, I’ve gone darkside - I run a 155/65R14 Econominder car tire on the rear). Hit nearly 100 mph several times passing strings of 18-wheelers. Always kept up with the Goldwinger I rode with. Used a tunnel bag and 40L waterproof bag strapped to the passenger seat along with the 50L under seat storage. No cruise control but don’t miss it. Heated grips were great. With the weight of the bike plus me and my crap, total weight was probably 850-875 lbs. It never once felt like it. As far as your video is concerned, you covered a whole lot of details and nuances perfectly. Very well done.

Awsome feedback sir. But the area i had issue WITH was when you said it handled gravel roads well. Scooters are not very great on gravels and slipppery terrains unlike other bikes. Except yours is really an advance edition

@@Joeagbaje1 To be clear, I give most of the credit to the 155/65R14 rear tire and some credit to the CVT. The grip was solid with little to no slippage. The width was an advantage under all conditions - city riding, interstate highways, national park unpaved roads, and the incredible twisties. If I had an 80/20 on the front, or a tire similar to the tires on the Honda ADV’s, the only issues would be suspension (which did fine in the back but could be better up front) and ground clearance. And to reiterate, going darkside was nothing but positive.

@@Joeagbaje1 It's all relative. No one is saying it's on par with a dirt bike. But for someone who may have to go down an unpaved driveway, it won't be an issue.

Hello scooter community, I only just heard of this scooter yesterday, Feb 4, 2024 and I WANT one. I had no idea such an amazing scooter was available. I love riding motorcycles, BUT, at 55 years old considering something different. I had a Honda 50 scooter in high school in 1986, and LOVED it. Full circle 40 years later and I'm back at scooters, or the Honda Rebel 1100 automatic.

@@CycleHunters Rub it in. I want one so badly. As much as I love my 1500cc big Vulcan, my Honda 250 Elite Scooter gets most of my attention. I also own a 2014 Yamaha Stryker 1300 that is like a bike on rails, and I still gravitate towards the scooter.

I have a 2009 version of this bike. It is no longer made apparently it was unable to meet the latest Euro emission standards. In my view it was the benchmark for maxi scooters. It was plenty powerful to ride on the highway but was also good for the daily city commute. It plenty of storage. The adjustable screen is great for keeping the wind off. The manual mode was great for the highway giving a 6th gear for more fuel efficiency in the highway. The ABS and twin disks on the front give great stopping. Thanks for sharing your review.

Nice review, my Executive has heated seats as well but when I looked at yours the panel the toggle switch is on doesn’t show up on yours though the picture wasn’t the highest quality. Note don’t take that as criticism I mentioned it because it looks rather dark in areas. But you use the equipment you’re given. You mentioned the only gripe I have with it and that’s when the engine breaking goes off and it free wheels, for me lane splitting and heavy traffic it’s release causes me to wobble a little if it catches me out. Because it gives a little jerking movement. It’s something you get used to and I never think about it now, however when you bought it up it came to mind.

I understand fully, you’re doing some brilliant videos on older equipment and if utube doesn’t get even more restrictive hopefully the money from these videos will allow some new equipment, and I must say your still the only video I’ve come across that gives the engine breaking release as a possible irritation. Suzuki certainly are not going to change anything because they don’t make them anymore. That’s another reason your opinion matters because you deal with obvious used bikes /scooters/etc

As an older guy who did a lot of riding without earplugs, I'd say wear them. I can't say if caused the tinnitus I have now, possibly not, but besides that, the constant roar on a long trip is tiring.

Not really. It's not a bike per se', it's a scooter. So you do lean these but no where near like a sports bike.
@johnlieberman3602
@johnlieberman3602 5 ай бұрын
Absolutely. I've been riding a Burgman 650 for years and have ridden tens of thousands of miles, most of it on twisty roads. I constantly counter-steer. And as the author indicates, about the only thing you can drag on the ground is the center stand, and that's only after leaning the bike WAY over on a curve.

You make several references in the video, contrasting this with a "sport bike." The comparison really should be with a full dress touring bike: you don't see many riders go from a sport bike to a maxi-scooter, but it is a natural when downsizing from a Goldwing or a Harley dresser. This bike was made to eat up the miles in comfort. This is the apex of the maxi-scooter. Darn shame Suzuki decided to discontinue this bike.
