Come along with Bonnie and learn how to make the Sweet Baby Blanket! This is an easy crochet design that works up quickly and beautifully using 2 skeins of Red Heart's Ombre Self-Striping yarn.
The written pattern is part of the leaflet/e-booklet "Self-Striping Projects" available here: leisurearts.com/self-striping...
You can make this design wider by adding multiples of 6 to the original starting chain.

@@mark.wippler yes Chrissy, I use Color Street nail strips and can apply them and be ready to go (no time needed for drying and messing them up!) in 15-20 minutes easily. I sometimes add a coat of clear to help protect them and make them last a bit longer (2 weeks for me). I can also get two sets out of one pack since I keep my nails a normal (shorter) length. You should be able to find these online or I can give you my friends contact info if interested.

I've made several of these in different sizes. Your written pattern is easy to follow. The first one I made was in Baja Blue for my grown daughter and she often comments that she looks at it and that she thinks there must have been a bit of magic involved in the making of it because of its beauty. Considering that she is an artist, I take it as a huge compliment to the designer as well as to the stitcher. Thank you for a pattern that helped me to give my daughter a gift she truly loves.

I usually don't, knowing that these will be washed many times and will soften with use. You can try soaking in fabric softener or hair conditioner to soften if you would like. This yarn is very durable and should hold up to washing (and babies) for many years.

My primary consideration for baby blankets is whether the yarn can be laundered often and survive. Even if the yarn does not feel very soft at first, it should soften with use and washing. Some super soft yarns may not hold up as well.
