@alexku8452
@alexku8452 3 жыл бұрын
That may sound like an easy fix, but depending on the kind of booster pump you use it may possibly cause other issues. Starting from hoses on the suction side collapsing due to the low water flow to starving other things using water from water flow (dish washers, sink faucets, ice machines etc.). It would even be possible to suck air from an open faucet back into the line. But that would also highly depend on circumstances we do not know here, e.g. why the water pressure is so low. Is it only a problem on the roof? then a booster pump should be fine. Maybe someone had half closed a valve for the roof line or the valve itself has some issue. If this really affects the whole building, something else is weird.

@@alexku8452 Take a suction hose, like one with a Plastic or Steel spiral inside use it to connect, the Faucet with the Pump and connect the hose where your showering wand is on, on the exit of the booster pump. Easy.

True story! had a Tenant use a kitchen fork "yup a kitchen fork" to clean my coils on my ac air handler. She said she was trying to help me out. Didn't want to bother me with a service call......Well, I had to replace the entire air handler unit at "Her" expense. Too bad for her. Unit was still under warranty, but warranty doesn't cover kitchen forks... Yes, she paid! She had a house that I was going to place a lien on if she didn't.... it was a poker bluff on my part but it worked.

Be sure that the water flow from the hose satisfies the pressure washer's input requirements. Otherwise, you get cavitation on the pump input, and very short pump life. You almost need a pressure gauge on the input.

A local pizza business with 6 locations each with 100+ seating. And it wasn't low quality cardboard crust pizza like the big national chains. They had a thriving business model with a lunch time buffet that packed them in. One location was a 30 year community fixture. All locations giving up the buffet and moving to hole in the wall locations with no seating and to-go pizza only. Most of the other small individual restaurants in the community are closed permanently. Lot's of for lease signs. Kinda reminds me of times when Nafta was first put into effect. The current result is a short term boom time for HVACR as the new hole in the wall locations have to be equipped with the necessary equipment. A bad long term for HVACR as overall there will be much less equipment to repair.

On the 3rd compressor refrigerant will wash out the oil, if the crankcase heater is not working. What it does is keeps the oil hot so refrigerant cannot get underneath it when the system is off and it stabilizes. That is were wash out will occur. At work we have 11 chillers, sometimes the operator's will just kill power to one because it's not needed now the oil heater is off. And the chiller will not start back up when needed, however they have oil sensor's and you instantly know what's wrong but you have to go through a bunch of shit to get it back up.

Hi Chris, just an idea for low pressure moments like this, pop to your local hardware chain or whatnot, anything with a garden Isle where you can find those cheap weed n feed spray packs (or any spray pack you just click onto the garden hose) and grab one, do what ever you like with the pesticide, just keep the lid and stick a screw or something to block the uptake hole, or even cut all the plastic back so you just have the little jet piece that sticks in the hose... Cheap little jet that ups the pressure but won't damage anything 😊

Great job in getting that unit to work enough to get them through. I always cringe when I see a power washer being used to clean coils. It is so easy to mess up. My favorite tool for power washing dirty coils is the Little Big Shot Fully Adjustable Super Hose Nozzle. That little beast rocks but if you have high water pressure it can bend fins so as always pay attention. I still have a wand like yours too but that little big shot nozzle rocks. I would have loved to have been diagnosing that unit with so many things to test and analyze at least to point, lol.

That Viper Coil Brightener is CRAZY insane for cleaning neglected coils. I used it on my A-Coil in my furnace, was seriously caked in dust, hair, and coil corrosion. I knew it was going to cause the coil to etch and erode some fins, but with low air flow; I didn't really care!! I sprayed it on their, let it sit for a good while, and the amount of crap that came out would make you puke!! It was very bright and clean, had some aluminum fin bits come out, but the air flow through the furnace was amazing. The A-coil will probably fail, start develop leaks, but the Viper coil brightener is also very potent, and not something to mess with!! I was very impressed, glad you recommend Viper products, and use it now for seasonal maintenance for the AC units.

Hi Chris, I was at two supply houses here last week in Johannesburg for some fittings as I need to connect 1/4 flare to pressure sensors, the application is actually test equipment. However, at both places I was the only customer. Never had that, the effect of this situation is felt heavily. Anyhow, about this video. That RTU was tired, and the lack of pm takes years of their lives. So what's new, it's why we have work to do right. But, as you said one has to be thorough and do proper reporting when communicating with the customer. And be sure that if the customer gets a second opinion on your diagnosis that there is not going to be any discrepancies, like you take care to avoid. Nice one, thanks for sharing, Kind regards to all, South Africa

@lwilton
@lwilton 3 жыл бұрын
Low water pressure: At least some pressure washers have a low pressure output mode where they are still pumping water, but only delivering it at 50 or 100 or so PSI. This is often in conjunction with a soap siphon mode to be used for washing cars and the like. If your pressure washer can do that, you could use it as a pump to increase puny water pressure by literally sucking the water out of the low pressure line and delivering it at something usable. If you can't do that, you can probably find a little booster centrifugal pump for $50 or the like at the hardware store. Again, just put it in line with the low pressure hose, and you should have usable water pressure. It is a pain to have to drag that up on the roof, but maybe less of a pain than no water pressure.

I suspect mechanical issue causing the compressor to jerk and twitch was causing the wires to move. Not that it can't happen but its unlikely amp draw in wires on this unit would make them move. I have heard wires make noise on 1000 amp chiller on start up but did not witness them actually moving.

We worked on kitchen hood cleaning and industrial equipment cleaning,using a dry ice power washer is way faster method,plus you get no secondary waste,no water all over the roof,also dry ice works perfect for cleaning electrical wires without any harms,look it up,if it is not worth the price since you don’t do much cleaning as hood cleaning,you might use steam cleaning machine,it produces less pressure but also less secondary waste and won’t bend anything

I'm not surprised the client went for full replacement. Two compressors and a TXV are bad, plus the condenser fan motor... A new unit is likely more efficient, and there's a lot of man hours in repairing a RTU that's already running on borrowed time... I'm a huge fan of "repair, don't replace," but sometimes you just gotta do it.
