We stayed at the Talist Ecolodge in Siwa Oasis, and found it to be the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Egypt.
The Talist sits in between mountains and the majestic Lake Siwa, where peace and tranquility reign. You can relax in your comfortable room, lounge by the pool, walk along the lake, explore Siwa, trek out to the desert, hike up a mountain, enjoy delicious, home-cooked meals, and more at this property.
One of the best parts about Talist is that everything was crafted with the environment in mind. Hotel rooms do not even have wall outlets--guests are encouraged to unplug during their time at Talist and enjoy all the natural wonder the gardens, mountains, lake, and oasis have to offer.
We hope you get a chance to enjoy this serene paradise when you come to Siwa Oasis on your own Egypt Adventure.
Egypt Adventures Travel creates customized, curated travel experiences for adventurers who want to go beyond the basics when exploring Egypt.

what is eco about it except the building material? Do they use grey water systems? Compost toilets? Serving local, organic food? Solar panels for energy? Many ' eco-hotels' in Egypt call themselves ' eco' but in the end it usually only refers to the building material. It's a good start, but it doesn't make an 'eco' experience in the more usual sense of the word. And therefore I often find them a bit disappointing.

Great questions! I didn’t ask them about all the components they considered that made them an eco lodge, but here is what I noticed: -very limited electricity (no power outlets in rooms, minimal lighting, no hot water (except in a communal area) -local food prepared from mostly their home-grown produce (the property is also a small farm) -building materials, like you mentioned I’d encourage you to get in touch with any property ahead of time to ask those questions, because then you’ll have the best idea of whether a property fits the eco experience you’re looking for. Are there any standout properties you’ve been to that you consider eco-hotels that you can recommend? I’d love to check them out!
