Four days have passed since the big argument between Shabani and Kiyomasa.
I arrived at Higashiyama Zoo around 12:00 noon.
When I arrived at the gorilla house, I did not see any gorillas.
A visitor told me that the gorillas had been calm as usual the day before, but around 10:00 a.m. today, Shabani got angry with Kiyomasa's chest-beating, and since then the gorillas had gone back to the basement.
Around 1:30 p.m., the gorillas came out of the basement and started eating lunch.
This video shows what happened after that.
The gorillas were looking good and eating lunch well.
However, Shabani and his son Kiyomasa had a dispute this morning, so the tension between them remained tense.
I will report back as soon as possible.

Nene was born wild in Cameroon.
The other three were born in the Higashiyama Zoo in Japan.

I notice that quite often before Kiyomasa displays he first looks around to see if his two bodyguards are following him. It almost reminds me of a gang. I feel so sorry that the others are cutting out Shabani. It doesn’t seem right. I wish Shabani would show everyone in his troop that he’s the real silverback.

Other troops stay far from their silverback because they respect and fear him. But these troops are bastards. Two annoyed females who can't even be a good mother and wife plot with a spoiled son against silver back. Just watch this channel for Shabani and Annie.

Shabani and his brothers went through this same thing growing up, I'm sure he is doing what his wonderful father did for him. Shabani wasn't much older that Kiyomasa when he got his new troop because he kept challenging his father. Shabani father taught his sons to love and also when enough is enough, Shabani is slow to anger but will reach a breaking point, I'm sure the staff will know when to remove Kiyomasa for his own safety and the safe of the rest of the troop. I hope Kiyomasa finds his own troop soon because Shabani is a good Silverback, I also hope Annie finds her own place maybe Gentaro and Annie can start a troop. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

@@laura-il9luthere's plenty of room in that exhibit to rotate them.. they should start doing that as Kiyo needs to enjoy time away for himself. Kyoto zoo is too small for the 4 of them, rotation during his phase of life should happen there also.

Kiyo has so much to learn and unfortunately is going to learn the hard way. I just hope it's not deadly! He is continously trying to show his strength, to show off, but it's really just showing how much he still has to learn.

For now Kiyomasa is strutting around and is backed up by Ai and Nene. But how can this ever end well for him? Does he and the ladies realistically see a storyline in which Shabani becomes secondary to him? They are not bonobos after all!

It looks like Shabani has had enough, Annie girly you need to provoke the old woman & distract her or wait until the girls go into the basement & close the door & then let's see how tough you are. Nene is stalking Kiyo & is ready to pounce on Shabani, it's so creepy how she is always by his side. 🕷️ I think they are past the point of salvaging their relationships. Annie is loyal to her daddy, who knows what will happen next. If it becomes a fight I sincerely hope the videographer doesn't show it to the viewer's, This is causing me so much anxiety. Shabani you still rock my handsome one. I hope this is over soon one way or another.🦍🙋🇭🇲

I love Shabani too. I hope they will give him a better wife. Young one of course. To avoid this emotional distress and to be an alpha competition. He is a loving silverback and deserves a new happy family. Annie can stay with him. She won't create trouble..

I keep saying that myself. Zoo staff need to stop catering to the females and Kiyo every time something happens and they stop eating temporarily. By getting involved they are showing support to the bad behavior and this won't end until the zookeepers back off, they will eat when they get hungry!

Kiyo is pathetic and a manipulator! He doesn't have an injured, walks just fine with it until the females show up and he wants attention! Its getting old watching the coward Kiyo stand tough when Shabani appears. Shabani isn't intimidated at all, sure wish he would put Kiyo down a few times on camera then we can see how tough he isn't!

This is getting old with those women acting so touch, hiding Kiyo from his dad! Did anyone see Kiyos early in this video limp over to the support ledge stretches with all his weight on his front legs like it was heeled. He gets on the floor, starts walking without a limp, just fine until he saw the females approach him then all of a sudden he remembered and started limping again. He can climb the ladders just fine all day to the basement but when on top he's limping again! OMG what a con artist !!!! He isn't injured!

I realized the same thing!! and when he went outside (in the following video) he was walking well. Victimhood is in fashion!!! He has injuries but they are not serious, and Shabani is also hurt a little...the fight was huge in the basement. Kiyo is terrified and hides behind his mother and Ai...

This is a nightmare! All these zoos need to come together in Japan and have a meeting about doing something about these teenage gorillas. They have had 12 years at least to prepare for this day. It is time to make a plan and do what is best about the future of these families. Forget about who owns who and money they bring in and focus what is best for them. It is the least they can do as they made them money. This is a big disaster waiting to happen at this zoo, Momos zoo and Ueno zoo. Come on think of the health of these gorillas. For shame!

Wow, I finally see what everyone else has been seeing. Nene is too protective of Kiyo. He's a big boy who's been off mom's teet for a long time now. Nene and Ai are acting like bodyguards making sure Shabani doesn't go by him. Kiyo's been taught very well by his dad. He can take care of himself. He knows when to back off from his dad. I'm sorry Kiyo's hand got hurt but get over it and move on. Sorry Kiyo, you'll never be alpha in this family.

キヨマサがドラミングするのを躊躇したり、シャバーニがキヨマサと距離をとったり、ネネがシャバーニに対してディスプレイしたり、みんなが一線を超えないようにしてる。シャバーニとキヨマサは、お互いのことを怖がっているのでしょう。ムードメイカーのアイとアニーでなんとかこの関係性を柔和して欲しい❤ そして、シャバーニはここが踏ん張りどころ。シルバーバックの威厳を見せつけて欲しい。

Shabani is a Great silverback ,, he uses his big heart ❤️ that’s full of love for his troop. Shabani is doing everything possible to keep from hurting Kiyomasa,, But it seems that Nene keeps pushing and pushing😬😬 Kiyomasa Run’s from Shabani until Nene gives a little push. Then at the same time Kiyomasa and all the testosterone running around. Shabani is doing everything he can not to hurt anyone troop member especially Kiyomasa that’s his baby boy and he loves to play with Kiyo. Ai will always be right up Nene a$$ and follow her in anything she does 😡😡😡😡, (that makes me very mad) but I also know the alpha female is the top dog to all the other troop members.. And when Nene pushes that’s when Kiyo. displays and then Ai right there Shabani tries to use his massive body to stopping the display of Kiyo’s dominance. Annie stays back from grandma and mum, In my opinion she will always have Shabani’s back honestly I think she ready to take grandma down at any given moment.. you can see Annie still doesn’t trust Nene in anyway whatsoever.. Shabani isn’t scared of anyone in his troop he just wants his family troop to stay it has always been,, But with Kiyo becoming a silverback himself and wanting his own troop it will only calm down for a minute then right back at it.. I love Shabani and can truly understand why he’s not attacking Kiyo.

Wow. Its really sad to see these 2 not getting along...Will they move Kiyo out at some point? Is that the issue, he's getting older and needs a female perhaps? Hormones out of control? I really enjoy watching this family and Shabani is honestly a really good gorilla dad !

He mated with 3 females in this troops. Maybe Shabani caught him and caused this stress. Rather than learn a lesson he tried to oppose the silverback with mom and sis as bodyguard. Both mother and daughter refused Shabani approach but happily go with Kiyo.

@@staypeace5955 Wow really?? Gorillas mate with family members? Damn, i had no idea. Its really amazing to watch the dynamics of these gorillas. Still learning! Thank you for your input, it's much appreciated. I have noticed when there is conflict the females always defend the "victim" I guess you could say. It gets intense sometimes watching these little beauties! I could NEVER work in a zoo, i'd be jumping in the enclosures trying to help whoever was being picked on and im' pretty sure they wouldn't want human intervention lol

@@sct3339 they don't mate with their family, if he was in the wild he would have left to find his own troop. The zoo should have moved him out already. This is a big problem with 3 zoos in Japan . They have older gorillas that are ready to mate and should be moved , but nothing has been set up. They have had like 12 years to figure out and be prepared for this and now it is a horrible stressful situation for these gorilla families. No excuse for this ,they had plenty of time to be ready. Shame

@@sct3339 sorry you misunderstood, in the wild they don't mate with relations, the sons move on, but in 3 different zoos in Japan they are mating with daughters , sons, and siblings. It is a shame and a mess. Sorry I confused you

Yes this a sad situation but what we think is a terrible feud is actually normal for a gorilla troop with a growing blackback. He will challenge his father it’s instinct and his father will have to be the silverback he has been taught to be. Shabani loves his family and it’s quite obvious he does not want to escalate any further situations but he will by no means back down from Kiyo. The females will protect the weaker one when needed that is their instincts. My hopes are that this family can come together again soon since we really don’t know the plan for Kiyo. Maybe this will encourage the zoo along with an over the sea zoo to work together to get Kiyo separated and in a bachelor group. That would be idea but odds are will not happen. Shabani will do all he can to hold back and not physically hurt any member of this family cause we all know what he is actually capable of. The dynamics are changing it was a matter of time kiyo is growing up and will be a wonderful silverback

Isn’t there anyone at this Zoo who understand what is going on here? Kiyomasa needs to leave the group at once. Hè is transforming Into a blackback, the phase before being a silverback .In the wild he will either walk away or be chased away by his father. They will only meet again to fight for dominance . What is happening in this zoo is against nature and will continue in fierce fights.

@@alexk9295I don't think so. Silver back in the wild must be wilder and bolder. Black backs will leave their troops to start his own family as soon as possible. And if the females aren't happy with their silver back they will leave the troops to find another silverback.

in the zoo silverbacks' role is cut down to only producing offspring so they tend to become much softer than they could've been in the wild. so it is not surprising that male adolecents start to feel bolder and try to challenge them. it's up to the zoo to determine and sort out these situations but unfortunately these ones are Japanese zoos.

@@alexk9295 yes it sometimes occurs. When a son is chased away by its father, he sometimes will follow the group from a distance waiting for a moment to chase his father. There is a famous silverback called Titus who chased his son Kuriyama away from the group. Eventually there erupted a fight between father and son. After some fights the group spitted up, half of the group supported Kuriyama as their leader and the other half supported Titus. The story continues with lots of intrigue. A tv soap avant la lettre.

Maybe an unfortunate collision between not enough physical space and mating mother and daughter with the same silverback?! Maybe Kiyomasa is just at that teenager/man age where challenging Dad is part of independence. Any which way Kiyomasa will have to go.

haven’t watched this show in about 6mths and I am really surprised about the state of the indoor and outdoor gorilla quarters. Has it changed hands or been hit my financial problems ? Admittedly I know nothing about gorillas 🦍 and what they like or don’t like but most animals don’t seem to enjoy eating amidst their own excrement and pools of urine or each others - for that matter. It’s a pity to see their home so rundown.

Pour moi il n'y aura plus de reconsiliation possible entre le père et le fils. Kyiomasa c est plus son père qu il a en face de lui mais un rival shabani le Silverback don't il veut prendre la place 😢avec le soutiens des 2 femelles du groupe surtout néné qui en rajoute. Elle est un gros problème dans le groupe. Shabani à l inverse voit en face de lui son fils qu il adore, mais je pense qu il devrait lui donner une bonne leçon pour le remettre à ça place et pour shabani retrouver ça place de Silverback ! Mais ça risque de faire très mal. Toute façon ce groupe est disfonctionnel rien ne va. Je pensais que shabani et ai formait un couple magnifique mais il n en est rien ! Pour preuve pas de bébé depuis annie et on vois bien que ai n est pas attiré par shabani. On est loin de la love storie montré dans certaines vidéos. Seule annie est neutre. C est de loin la plus intelligente de tous. Ça ne reste que mon avis.

Tu as raison! Annie soutient son père avec diplomatie mais s'inquiète pour son frère. Kiyo n'a pas encore les prouesses physiques de Shabani, il est maladroit mais fait preuve de force et de leadership face aux femelles mais ne s'approche pas de Shabani. Shabani le remet à sa place avec diplomatie. Je pense que les Silverbacks doivent avoir la « sagesse » de contrôler leur force pour devenir des leaders et Kiyo en est loin. Et oui, Nene a toujours été un problème dans la troupe.

Based on the way Shabani treated Nene, he probably thought she was trouble. Also, maybe Shabani blamed Nene for controlling Ai. Videos show Nene has been having sex with Kiyomasa since he was a toddler. If there really is a shortage of female gorillas, I think Shabani may be stuck with these backstabbers.

I see the females are concerned and protective because of Kiyos injury which is understandable. But Kiyo is using this opportunity to usurp Shabanis leadership as well. He is defying his father by mating with the females. Behaviour like that can only lead ea showdown in the end and they will hurt each other

I feel sorry for this gorillas the condition they live in! Very unnatural, cold cement hard floors! No trees or green bushes, not real ground to walk, run or seat on! Looks more like a jail than a zoo! Sad life for them! 👎

The story of Annie also shows Shobani's beautiful soul & strong leadership. But because Shabani failed to quickly discipline his attackers, he lost his troop. This is now Kiyomasa's troop.

If people took charge of those gorillas they should've provided the best they could for them. instead, we realise that mother nature would've sorted out this situation by now. zoos keep letting these creaturs down over and over again. all they care about is their bank account.

I feel sad seeing Shabani being tormented by Kiyo’s displaying while Nene and AI are shadowing Kiyo, this is giving Kiyo a false sense of security for a start he hasn’t grown his own adult weapons, he has an elderly mother with no teeth and a female sister to go up against a huge Silverback in his prime with 2 upper and 2 lower 2inch molars and at any other time he would fight to the death to keep his family safe from harm, but this is his family so he uses beating his chest showing his huge teeth and displaying to keep them in check he’s already let Kiyo know enough is enough and it worked the first time, but this time Shabani has to treat Kiyo with some real tuff love .

I feel sorry for Nene she just can't relax with all the tension. I am worried if Shabani gets out of control angry he will really hurt one of them but it's interesting he is avoiding his son and almost scared of him.

He is not afraid of it, that is how a Silverback acts, he restrains himself, and he is using his patience. The maturity of silverbacks leads them to that attitude when there is a serious problem. They use great control of emotions.

Shabani isn't scared of him. Silverbacks only approach to fight. Shabani doesn't need to hover over Kiyo to show dominance. Kiyo is scared, but he is trying to act like he isn't with his display. Hence him running away from Shabani! Shabani knows his power and could kill Kiyo (hope not), so he definitely isn't scared. Shabani could lift or throw up to 815kg. He is showing restraint, and it will only last so long.

シャバーニを部屋に入れないようにするキヨマサがすごく嫌です。そしてネネとアイがずっと後ろについているのは守るためなのか、アルファにしようとしているのかどっちなんでしょう。どちらにせよ、1人で行動し周りに誰もいないシャバーニを見るのは心が痛いです。こんなにもシルバーバックに敬意のない家族は見たことがない。これは普通なの？ネネは過剰に反応し過ぎるし、過保護過ぎると思うのですが。いつまで様子を見るのでしょうか。

同感です。シルバーバックのボスを尊敬しない🦍家族、普通ではありえません。 🇺🇸に住んでいた頃、海外の動物園でゴリラのいくつもの家族を見てきましたが、このようなボスに尊敬もない酷い家族を見たことありません。シルバーバックの周りに女性達が集まり、のんびり過ごす姿が見れました。こんなに寂しいボスの姿は記憶に無いのです。いつもトラブルの原因はネネです。今回のキヨマサの行動を見ればすぐにでも隔離するのが本当なんですが🇯🇵の動物園の東山は様子見、なんとかなる、で放置するのではと危惧しています。シャバーニはメスに家族に恵まれていません。ネネの存在が厄介です。アニーは別ですが。

@@tora191 海外の詳しい話をありがとうございます。私もいくつか拝見したことがあるのですが、おっしゃる通り皆のんびりとしている印象で、また息子の躾に対してシルバーバックに任せてるいる印象なんですよね。でもネネは違うし、愛はネネに絶対服従みたいな感じに見えます。シャバーニが息子を躾けることができない状況なのかなと…素人の意見なんですが。同じような年頃のゲンタロウの躾をゲンキはモモタロウに任せてるように思うので。正直今回は長引いているし、ネネを別室にするかキヨマサを別室にするか早めに対応して欲しいです。もう既にメスはキヨマサ側についているように見えるし、シャバーニが孤立しているように見えて悲しいです。

The longer I watched I could see all three females circling Kiyomasa. I think Shabani may feel left out and maybe ganged up on. He needs to assert himself with the girls. But Kiyo is just getting to that age…😅😊

Shabani is no longer acting like a leader. He needs to stand his ground, fight if necessary. The leader cannot constantly be chased away by the females each time his young son puts a foot wrong. If this is happening then they no longer regard Shabani as leader. Either Shabani fights to regain control or his life will be miserable.
