This was the last time up to The Tent before the 2018 Deer Hunting opener. We moved my Dads stand. Put up Zachary's new stand. Cut down the dead birch in the Tent yard. Set up the ground blind. Sighted in the deer rifles. This was a very busy trip up to The Tent.

Joe, you're a total beast, you could outwork and eat more meat than 10 men! As alarming as that is (lol) I really like your sense of tradition and family. You have a great relationship with your kids and you are blessed to still have your father around. These days when everything seems to be going to shit, seeing you do the same things year in, year out gives me as well as others who watch your channel a lot of comfort!

Joe, I'm fifty seven years old, I have been cooking for myself and my family for most of my life, but to this day, I still call my wife and ask her how to cook things. First I wanna say kudos to you for not being afraid to ask, second, what is it with us guys that we gotta ask the woman how to cook our dinner? I dunno, maybe I'm insane. Great video, thanks for posting. I always look forward to any tent video. From where I sit you have a good life, a great family (kids, and your parents) and a good woman. You are doing it right sir.

Another great video Joe, keep them coming Bud. FYI, I purchased a model 99 .300 Savage from my 76 year old neighbor, it was his fathers rifle and It is in excellent condition. The deer season started in Nova Scotia last week, had the crosshairs on a 4 pointer and a doe but I just watched and let them continue on their way; lots of season left yet. My neighbor will no doubt be excited if I get a deer with his fathers old gun.

Always entertaining to watch and so professional. I'm 88 now and feeling it, so this takes me back to happy days in the woods. But I don't know if I could have driven all those miles even when I was in my prime. I'd like to be up north with you but my old bones now need these balmy Florida days down here in St Augustine, 75s, and sunny almost every day. Good luck with the deer and all the best to your family.

Next season you should plant some white poplar where you took those birch trees down by the tent. Great looking trees with the frosty underleaf to contrast the vibrant green sunward facing leaves. They look majestic when the wind kicks them up. Quick growing trees too!

Yar Nunya: you will notice I made absolutely no reference to “properly” prepared chili. I suspect that you are one of those folks (generally, but not always, from Texas) that thinks it is a sacrilege to add beans to the recipe. If that’s true you can have all you want and even go to a movie. Lol!

Great video. I used to hunt with my Father as well but I sadly lost my Dad this year, enjoy this time with your Father, memories will be forever. For approx. 8yrs, I've successfully hunted from a ground blind. For the really cold days, I use a small propane heater where I can stay for hours. To help with noise, I also place a rubber runner on the floor of the blind. A ground blinds worst enemy is strong winds, I've lost one. I always use at least one stronger stake, I use one "cork screw" dog tie out, get them from a dollar store.

Well Joe I never found my giant 8pt. But good news I saw him alive yesterday making scrapes and rubs and tending a Doe. They were very vocal. Then tonight October 31st 2018 I watched 5 different bucks chasing 12 does around. I heard noises I've never heard deer make in 30 year's in the woods. Snort wheeze's long grunts and some short clicking one's. Does bleating. It was AWESOME. I passed 2 basket 8pts and ended up shooting a huge bodied 6.5 year old 5pt. He had 4 teeth left in his mouth. Dressed out at 190lbs. He will just fit in the freezer next to the 2 early season does I shot also with the bow. Hope you and your family a season like I've had so far. Really enjoy watching you videos. Can't wait to see how you do this year..

Pete Schubel, I have a 1969 Browning BAR in .270, that I inherited from my Dad. He passed away in Aug 2015. He moved to Cass Lake, MN in 1991. He was a very, very good Muskie fisherman. The 30'06 is a great 'brush' gun, but it is a thumper... The .270 is just a necked down 30'06. I won't be able to go back to hunt Deer until 2022, but I'll get to go back to Huntersville State Forest, in MN! Semper Fidelis
