Raising testosterone, through natural means, CAN be useful for those suffering with very low testosterone.
However, this does not apply to the vast majority of people watching fitness KZfaq. For most people with “normal” levels, all the hacks in the world are likely to raise your testosterone by about 10-20%. What does that mean in terms of how you feel/how you perform? Not a whole lot...
The number of videos discussing and hyping the natural methods to boost testosterone is disproportionate to the value this offers for the average person. In this video, I break down why much of the fuss surrounding testosterone really is just hype. Don’t waste your money - invest in training smart and hard, instead!

I’ll bounce back off your point about the testosterone = Gigachad player. I totally agree that testosterone therapies or supplementation will solve nothing. Even absent the iatrogenic effects, it isn’t clear that high testosterone equates to greater social or material success. In fact, if many people are below some loose(ish) objective threshold, then high T individuals might very well be regarded and treated as a threat by default. So, they might well be subject to a lot more stress and pressure than their relatively lower T peers.

@@jeremiahleasure4301 Don't forget attitude/beliefs, as well as learning how to minimize mental/emotional stress. Things like meditation-prayer combo can be, and often are, quite helpful. The physical body is important, but we have other layers and parts of us that need to be healthy as well. Heck, also positive relationships, partaking in positive service to others, friends, and community. If you look at the research on the 5 Blue Zone areas of the world (areas/peoples who collectively live significantly longer and healthier than the rest of us), there are certain commonalities not just in diet and physical activity, but also that these are areas/peoples that are more involved in community. In the US, community and neighborship is rapidly dying. Most of us rarely ever talk to our neighbors or partake in larger community. Most of us are little islands outside of our family, closer friends, and/or significant others.

I remember a few years ago a guy came to work with a bottle of beetroot juice and started rattling off all the benefits he’d read about it. He wasn’t pleased when I pointed out that, the night prior, I’d watched him consume six beers and chain smoke cigarettes. He wasn’t too pleased when I suggested that any benefits he might gain from drinking beetroot juice would be completely counteracted by his unhealthy habits. Most people are looking for the quick fix; the pill, the supplement, the special juice. They’re rarely inclined to address their poor behaviour and deal with the root causes of such.

@@kirkchurchil8216 Absolutely; that's probably the case for lots of men. What I'm saying is just that the number in and of itself is meaningless. If there are symptoms, absolutely get your test checked, and if it's at or below normal low range, TRT could be useful. But I've heard from countless symptom-free men who got tested, and if they were even slightly in the sub 600s, they would run for the nearest clinic. But for what? What symptoms were they hoping to alleviate? Because the number itself is not a symptom, nor a detriment. They simply see the number as a representation of their "level of manliness", and if it's "too low" they feel emasculated, even if there are no symptoms.

Im a teenager thats recently started going to the gym, cutting down time on phones and computers, pretty much eliminated video games completely now, I start my mornings at around 7 oclock, go outside sit in the morning sun and do some meditation, later on ill eat a fruit and walk around outside also in the sun, and then I have my first meal and hit the gym, and throughout the day Im mostly outside and doing different types of workouts and exercises outside the gym just in my yard. I've definitely felt what I believe to be an increase in testosterone, I've started feeling more aggressive, I have acne on my chest(not sure if thats a sign of higher testosterone) and another thing is my skin is pretty oily, I try and minimize on endocrine disruptors and I'm a bit of a conspiracy theorist i suppose😂 because I plan to change out even my toothpaste to a fluroide free one. But when it comes to all these supplements and special diets and the latest "red pill" trend a lot of people need to understand that there are so many basic changes you can make in your life that will improve your health drastically, but instead you have a bunch of people who dont exercise, and hardly care about their diet proclaiming about how you shouldn't eat eggs because they have cholesterol, or how a keto diet is the answer to everything and yet none of these people will ever cut sugar from their diet or go to the gym or read a book or something, and they dont get good sleep because they're anxious and depressed, a lot of this "take this one pill to raise testosterone" is trying to treat symptoms of the culture, meanwhile so many people are addicted to porn, spend all their free time on their phones and social media, the problem isnt your testosterone levels, its your lifestyle.

Honestly, the more I hear about testosterone the more conflicting the info seems to get. As an older man I can say that having been a very healthy teen and young man I have good muscle memory, most importantly with my heart. But I've lost a ton of muscle due to a sedentry lifestyle. If I can advise anyone below the age of 50 it's this. Don't stop. Whatever you're doing to stay mobile and active, keep doing it and don't get hung up about it being the "best form". F the the form and keep the fun.

Why did you let yourself go?
@justinw1765
@justinw1765 Жыл бұрын
@@daebak7370 It's easy to do. Most of us who start getting into our 40's plus start to some degree or other. Some of it is probably because of naturally lowering testosterone (which does decrease motivation/ambition and energy levels), which then creates a negative feedback cycle...you gain weight, you stress, eat worse, etc and it goes down even more. Before you know it, you've dug yourself a sizable hole, and it is that much harder to climb out of. Having families, having to work more, etc doesn't help. Especially if you start off low income. You have to be either really obsessed with health, really obsessed with image, and/or your career depends on your looks, to avoid this (on average). NPD for example, seems to be pretty, unusually high among body builders and influencers. There is a lot of negatives about NPD and folks that have it, but in some cases, they certainly can be motivated to be or do "the best" by all that ego, insecurity, and need for outside validation. I mean, ultimately, there are a lot more important things in life than being ripped. But, certainly lifting and exercise are very important for health, and should be engaged in for especially those reasons. Hence why I'm getting into it. Primarily for health. Maybe a little bit for image/ego, if I'm to be honest. But really and truly, mostly for health and feeling better.

Video is solid and concise, providing a very good synopsis on testosterone as a whole. I will disagree only on one point: on the "You're great as you are". That "are" part is something that needs to be discovered. And the way to do that, is through challenges. Training provides the first step towards self-discovery and self-actualisation. Heck, maybe we'll never know who we truly "are", so we might as well enjoy the journey to greatness and becoming. Again, excellent video. 💪

I'm over 40 and only supp with Collagen Peptides (for joints), and Longjack Extract (Tongkat Ali), and am quite satisfied with the results. While it doesn't get me jacked or pumped, it helps quite alot with recovery and relief from DOMS. The effects concerning sexual health, I would say are maintained at a vibrant yet not overly-vigorous level (I've found Maca root to be annoying effective at that), and there's no acne or lost hair. I also like that it's not like you're "On-Cycle", whereas everything leaves you if you don't take it everyday, it's quite chill. The caveat is that I'm training for climbing, which focuses on density, conditioning, and endurance. This excludes super-intense weight training, and I listen to my body for the cues to ease up or cease training for the day. Climbing also generally avoids hypertrophy and weight gain, so I don't go for a sicker pump or effects like that of SARMs or anything.

Glad to hear your perspective on this, Adam. Here's my story with T and supplements so far: I bought fadogia agrestis and tongkat ali and then got my T levels tested. Turns out they were already great (28, with 31 being the upper end of the standard range), but I decided to take the herbs anyway, I'd already bought them after all, and it seemed like a fun experiment. I was already taking maca and ashwaganda (which are both said to have modest T boosting effects, probably via lowering cortisol). Took the fadogia and tongkat for about 6 months, then got my T retested and was at 41.5 (and I got the blood taken around midday instead of morning, so theoretically it would be even higher, as T is highest in the morning). I was chuffed that they had worked, but the doctor was concerned, and advised me to stop taking them as they (according to him) can damage fertility. I didn't want to stop taking them having only just found out that they were working, but as I may still want children some day, decided it was silly to keep pushing what had been an unnecessary experiment for me in the first place, so I stopped taking them. Doc asked me to get my levels tested again after 6 weeks of not taking them (to make sure they revert to normal levels, and that something else isn't raising my T) [apparently cancer near your balls can result in increased T for example], which is about now, but I haven't done just yet. Without a control clone that didn't take it to compare myself to, it's impossible to say anything for sure, but I do think it might have given me the ability to bang out more reps with less rest time between sets. But I think improving my cardiovascular fitness is probably helping with that anyhow. And I think respecting that I do need to be patient and rest between efforts is a lesson that I'm still learning. I've also stopped taking creatine, as it increases DHT which is the suspected main driver of BPH (benign prostate hyperplasia, aka enlarged prostate), not that I know that I have that condition, but boy do I have to pee sometimes. As a vegetarian I theoretically stand to gain more from supplementing creatine, as it's naturally occurring in meat, so I'm a little miffed about it, but oh well. Despite the fact that it appears fadogia and tongkat did increase my T, I don't think that having elevated T actually created any dramatic effects, and I think that focusing on the basics and being consistent over time is really what will get me where I want to go.
@justinw1765
@justinw1765 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I had to stop taking creatine because I started to lose a lot of hair fast. It was about a month into starting a combo of taking creatine and resistance training that this started to happen quite overtly and seemingly out of the blue. Btw, I'm mostly plant based too, but do occasionally eat some sardines w/ bones and skin, and select other kinds of fish (Wild Alaskan salmon), as well as egg yolks from actually healthy and well treated chickens (like my co-workers backyard chickens), and a few other lacto-ovo foods. Previously, I ate straight vegetarian for over a decade, plus some definite time eating completely plant based/vegan. I feel best on the current diet of mostly plant based (talking like on average 95 to 98% of total food) with some occasional supplementation from the few animals foods that could be classified as "super foods" and more healthy than not. Thing is, I'm low income (trying to improve that * ), and certain important supplements like Algae based EPA and DHA, etc are on the expensive side. And to be brutally honest, I have less of an issue with death, than I do with the long term confinement and torture of animals. And it seems, the lower you go down on the evolutionary chain, the less that the creatures suffer. So while I don't feel great about contributing to that little sardines slightly premature death, I don't feel terrible either, like I would about a cow or pig being pent up under horrible conditions and then the abject emotional terror of slaughter time, etc. I'm also very aware that if everyone in the world ate like I did, then over fishing, agri based environmental pollution, animal suffering, etc would be minimal. I've observed a trend that a percentage of vegans/completely plant based folk, are their own worst enemies of their cause when they always insist that their way is the only way, instead of focusing on gradual change and minimizing harm, because most people will not go from one extreme to the other. But, people can be led by self interest in health especially, maybe some about environment, etc. And the propaganda doesn't help. I've met vegans that will argue till the cows come home that literally every non plant based food is ultimately unhealthy no questions asked. And that is just not objectively true. Look at the Blue Zone peoples/areas: Definitely a heavy emphasis on plant based there, but not completely by any means. Even the Loma Linda, CA based 7th Day Adventist community is primarily lacto ovo vegetarian, with a smattering of pescetarians.

While I generally agree with you on this premise, a lot of the standards on food are completely different in the states, where a lot of the wariness about what chemicals are going in to the food comes from. The EU has banned most of the sludge that gets pumped into our food and the standards are much, much higher. I would imagine that water standards are higher there as well, but I haven't looked into it. As such it's still pretty fair to be very selective about what you're eating here as the things that get permitted to put in our food and water definitely still affect T levels.

We are being bombarded with with chemicals that disrupt our hormonal balance 24/7, ever day. @@scythianking7315 Considering we only really started to learn about testosterone in the early 1900's, and first synthesized it in the 1930's, and only started regularly testing for exact levels of it in the 1970's, I'm a little skeptical of the claim that people 200 years ago had much higher levels that we do now. How the heck would we empirically know that? I'm not saying that the ocean of plastics we are surrounded in, plus other increasing environmental toxins, aren't having negative effects on T levels. I don't doubt they are having some effect, but we can't say with any certainty that people of yester year had significantly more since *not a single one of those people actually had their testosterone levels measured.* And don't assume that people only ate meat and vegetables in the Bronze age.... Certain grains and legumes have been cultivated by humans for over 10, 000 years plus. In fact, even modern research into the diets of neanderthals, whom previously were assumed to be meat heavy/centric, shows high amounts of legumes, grains, and tubers. The average/typical diets of the gladiators for a more recent example, shows a high amount of legumes and grains (and on average, very low meat, except for one coastal area wherein fish was likely moderate). If you look at most traditional cultures and diets of just pre modern times now, most of them are plant heavy, with meat only being occasional, and dairy being somewhat regular. For example, the 5 Blue Zone areas/peoples, which 4 of those areas/peoples have traditional diets. In those 4, meat is consumed far, far less than it is in the US, Britain, etc. And yet, these peoples are collectively living significantly longer and healthier lives than the rest of us. Regular and large amounts of meat, pre modern times, was the rare diets of kings and aristocrats, because these were the only ones who could afford or easily source it that regularly (and hunting with bow and spear is not as easy as you may think). And interestingly, it was these types most prone to more modern, chronic disease and issues like gout. Heck, a plant based and simple, non rich foods diet is even highly recommended in the OT of the Bible, in Daniel (thousands of years old). The King of Babylon marveled at Daniel and his fellow band of Jews' health/vitality, strength, perception, and intelligence, saying that it surpassed even those of his best guards and he asked Daniel what he/his men could do to be similar. Daniel told the King to put his men on a diet of no meat, rich or highly spiced foods or wine, and keep to simple vegetables, legumes, grains for at least 10 days, and he and they would notice positive changes. You got a lot of belief systems to update to more correct and objectively accurate ones. (Btw, I'm not vegan or vegetarian).

I had a long and tough depression during the covid-19 lockdowns, and as part of the investigation of my health, they checked my endocrine values. I have almost 1100ng, which puts me at the high end of normal distribution. I am not aggressive in the slightest, and not very assertive either, nor do I strive to be. I did have more acne than the average teen back in high school, and I went bald at 25, so that part I can personally attest to, though. Those are both great supplements that are proven to work. Since this video is about testosterone, I’ll point out that creatine may increase dht, which is a more potent form of testosterone. There’s a study that I believe demonstrated this dht boost in subjects who took creatine

Just started taking L-Citrulline 1200MG made by Now Sports. It seems to have am effect on my 75yo body because lately I've been waking up with erections even though I took half the recommended daily dose.

Recently found your channel and happy I did. But before that I was contemplating taking test and getting back to the gym for the first time in 12 years due to several injuries. I’m 32 now but my only symptoms of low T are lack of energy and sex drive (likely due to my now X gaining 100 lbs) kinda didn’t want to go there. I’ve always been pretty active despite everything and have maintained my fitness fairly well but now I think I will go back to a modified version of my old nutrition routine from my teens and see where that takes me.

All people ever focus on is test. It blows my mind. That's like eating steak for every meal. Too many people blow past other hormones like hgh, igf, or even thyroid hormone..I honestly have had the best results come from those..

I’ve been on Tongkat Ali for 8 weeks and don’t feel a damn thing or notice anything at all. I didn’t think it would work either I also took tribulis a few years back and I noticed much more increase in energy and a few other things but that dies off after a month Very noticeable effects though compared to to to tongkat
