But when I read it back again… my heart hurt so much when I realized that was the first time they’d seen each other in 800 years and how poorly their friendship breakup went 😭😭😭 it’s so worth rereading MXTX’s works to catch new things

I started with the anime... And SO MANY references and jokes sailed over my head because theyre only properly explained in the book or once you complete the series. The sass is x100... Every action is so double meaning. I love it.

He literally does 🤣🤣 SPOILER: 800 years ago during the Xian Le war, Hua Cheng (then a kid) showed promise as a swordsman. Mu Qing didn’t believe that kids should fight in the army so to “protect” Hua Cheng he secretly kicked him out. Despite his good intentions, Hua Cheng’s hated Mu Qing ever since. (For that reason, and also because Mu Qing abandoned Xie Lian in the past.)
