I think I would die laughing if the whole Thalmor and Stormcloak/Empire Civil War conflict was just ignored in the main quest of VI, and it turned out the whole thing was resolved by finding a letter in Elder Scrolls VI that just read "Oh yeah, you know all that Thalmor stuff? Well when the Civil War in Skyrim finished, they discovered that the Thalmor had already collapsed due to political infighting, so they weren't really a problem."

@@Alpine1996 There is actually some continuity between morrowind and oblivion, even if it's not main quest stuff. We get told that the Septim dynasty is in danger, and the book "Dragon Breaks re-examined" even tells us directly of their end, and in oblivion that is exactly what happens. For TES 6 I kind of expect that the conflict with the thalmor will be already resolved (wich maybe is not ideal), but still carry a significant amount of weight.
@Kilo_23
@Kilo_23 Жыл бұрын
Yeh can defo seeing the conflict being resolved prior to the new game, for better or worse. Also feel that the thalmor might win but end up pulling a dwemer type move and messing up there whole plan themselves and getting a bit of divine intervention to mess them up. Will be a few lore books like "the fall of the thalmor" or "the thalmor disaster" littered around for you to find and maybe even a side quest but I highly doubt it will be a main factor in the next game.

As for Nocturnal, Boethiah, Mephala, Vaermina they are horrible with their betrayal/sneaky/thievery crap! With the Daedra I honor or at least respect, they are far more straightforward and honest compared to the ones I oppose/defy. Even Clavicus Vile and Hermaeus Mora, though they do trickery type stuff. They are more of a "be careful what you wish for" type trickery while compared to the other ones I mentioned are inherently dishonest/tricky. The Winterhold questline is the prequel of Elder Scrolls VI main story. Quaranir and the Psijic Order will use the next hero in the Order's ideological and literally battle with the Thalmor. This will be the Altmer civil war instead of a Nordic one.
@ReformedSauron
@ReformedSauron Жыл бұрын
Interesting and quite possible. It's very clear that the order does not trust the Thalmor, nor the Thalmor them. I have heard a theory which states that the Psijic Order intends to use the Eye of Magnus to create a new tower. Unfortunately I'm very fussy on the details, but supposedly that's why they wanted it so bad. There is also the theory that the Thalmor no longer serve the divines but might be in service to Boethiah to accomplish their ultimate goal and a revelation like that to the Altmer people would have colossal cultural impact that could trigger a civil war. Altmer culture would experience some sort of mass red pilling. If they fail the towers goal, the Psijics could give the truth to the Altmer, and the whole house of cards comes crashing down.
@badluck5647
@badluck5647 Жыл бұрын
@@ReformedSauron I hate the Boethiah theory that spun off of ES: Legends, because the whole secret Daedra cult thing has been done to death. The Thalmor are more interesting as traditional Aedra worshipers turned into something fanatical and dangerous. I just assume that the Eye of Magnus was a MacGuffin that even Bethesda writers don't even have a fixed idea of what it is for.
@feyfolken1655
@feyfolken1655 Жыл бұрын
@@ReformedSauron Well that and the psijics also collect and lockup the most powerful and potentially dangerous magic relics to prevent them from falling into someone's hands and causing mayhem throughout Tamriel. The 'using the eye to create a new tower' theory is an interesting one though. I wouldn't mind seeing that.
@Amig186
@Amig186 Жыл бұрын
That would be pretty awesome tbh. I think, since Skyrim has a pro and anti Imperial path, TES 6 could have one route uniting Hammerfell and Cyrodiil like proposed in the video, and another getting the Redguards to aid the Altmer dissident faction in overthrowing the Thalmor and then making a deal to keep the Imperials off each other's backs. Maybe not exactly like that, but the Redguards have to figure in there somewhere since TES 6 is supposed to take place in Hammerfell, and it's not like they've ever had a lot of love for the Empire either.

@@batthepunny7277 we Dragons are immortal in this universe and he came as the story of the tower began, then dies as it ends so to me it relates that he’s integral to the story of the tower. May would fit more in a FromSoftware game but eh
@ReformedSauron
@ReformedSauron Жыл бұрын
@@batthepunny7277 only a dragonborn could deactivate (and therefore destroy) that stone. I don't imagine deactivating any stone to any tower is meant to be easy: a failsafe measure. Anybody else but a dragonborn and it would just reappear later on. Supposedly there's a cave on the mountain but we don't see one. Other than the Paarthurnax and High Hrothgar there's nothing particularly notable on the mountain, so assuming they haven't kept something under wraps in the lore, the most likely stone would be Paarthurnax as I don't think they would make a castle a tower stone. Delphine probably isn't aware of this if it's the case, it would be an unfortunate circumstance. He's awesome, which is a shame, because my headcanon logic is to stifle my sentiment and kill Paarthurnax because I know, by his own admission, that he fights every day to keep his evil back, and with eternal life eventually he's going to eventually break his concentration after long enough and become just another tyrant again.

Great video. My theory: the attack on the Empire was entirely a suicide mission. They let the Emperor get away to gather reinforcements. They sent in that army to sack the capital, but had no intention of keeping it. They used this attack to deactivate the White Gold Tower, which they had more than enough time to do. After that, they waited for the Empire to return and wipe them out. This completely distracted from their true goal to the destroy of the Towers. Destroy the White Gold Tower and withdraw would have raised suspicion and risked their sages from finding out. So they attack the capital, sack it, allow the Emperor to escape, deactivate the tower, then get wiped out. Now everyone sees this as a failed military operation, when in fact it was entirely successful and no one has any clue. Some soldiers and some humiliation are a small price to pay for total victory.

While this is a great video; really well put together and covers a good bit of lore, I'm also fairly sure that the idea of the Thalmor wanting to "unmake" the world and destroy/deactivate the Towers isn't, in any way, canon. My understanding was that it was an erroneous piece of lore someone put into one of the wikis which was then circulated around the community and has since been debunked. Of course I could be completely wrong on that - it's been a while since I looked at that part of the lore... guess we'll need to wait for the next game to be completely certain. Either way, I definitely agree that the Thalmor, and Aldmeri Dominion as a whole, will play a big part in the next game. If the prevailing theory of it being set in parts of both Hammerfell and High Rock is right, we could be in for a great game with some really interesting lore.

They seem to have had both divine abilities and the experience with Stone manipulation. Do Skeleton Key or Mehrunes' Razor have the ability to bypass the "security"? From the lore perspective both items have great inter dimensional powers. And how could other mystic societies, such as Moth Priests and Psijic Order, attempt to gain knowledge about the Zero Stone.

I think song sword ability was something the Dwemmer had as a form of tonal manipulation. And that's one of the reasons why the Altmur cannot take out the Red guard or conquer Hammerfell.

"Digital culture" is the level that Elder Scrolls has gotten into. You get so immersed as a player that you are indeed living in a life shared among virtual men and women. Amazing voice, your dragon shouts must stir the skies.

The idea for the plot of TES6 is super cool. What if, after we touch the zero stone, we get to meet Auri-El himself? And have a conversation about the events of Skyrim/Dawnguard. I'd love to hear what big dad's thoughts are about naughty Alduweiner. That'd be a great one up to the last installment, I think. We've never come face to face with an Aedra before.

I had one of those dreams where you can see the future. I woke up and came back to this old video to say, you're not wrong. Stormcloaks win. Aldmeri dominion attacks, people set out to sea. Sea travel part and running into sea elves basically guarding the 1st pillar. Something that grants their king .... no spoilers. But anyways the tower gets destroyed and we go to somewhere above the dreamsleeve. A more ...anuic experience

I personally would not want Thalmor as the main antagonist in Elder Scrolls VI. It would feel anticlimactic to tear down a superpower in what, 1 ingame month. I also feel that if this is the true intention of the Thalmor, they seem to act very materialisticly, interested in annexations and waging of war against man instead of just sending their agents to the towers. I would hope for something having more to do with Yokuda's history. Good video nonetheless
@Count.Saruman

The best way they could develop the Thalmor is to have them be a behind-the-scenes overarching antagonist, sort of like the Dark One. Maybe they don't want the main antagonist to succeed either, and sometimes subtly assist you on your quest while always watching. The Thalmor should really meet their defeat in the Summerset Isles game.

Why would you have to defeat them? You could gravely weaken them? I point to Oblivion as proof. The Daedra were the antagonists, and their plot was prevented but they are very much still a villain (usually. Not including a handful).

@@Count.Saruman with Uriel being a constant presence on Arena through Oblivion and Skyrim taking place after a significant time skip I wouldn't be surprised if it was meant as a soft reboot for the franchise, and games V onwards will be their own narrative continuity like games I-IV were. The Thalmor, introduced in Skyrim, could be developed throughout the next games until the "Oblivion" of this narrative arc has the final showdown with them.

Tom needs to hire all you amazing lore loving folk to make the best elder scrolls games. There is more passion and wonder I'm your videos than the actual games. Now with all of learned thanks to you and all the colabs your made and stuff I've researched in my own there I do much more pleasure from diving into Tamriel. Thank you

I think I'd be clever if they made the elves ancestors the aureals, not auriel. The aureals have yellow skin, pointed ears, and similar weapons and armor. Not to mention, creating somthing like that's right up sheogoraths alley.

There are Altmer who've ascended, what are you talking about? Phynaster, Xarxes, Syrabane and Mannimarco all come to mind. Even Auri-El reascended to divinity. Talos is particularly despised because Tibby Septim dropped a genocidal god robot on Summerset Isle, and I imagine that after Rimmen, the Khajiit aren't too fond of him either.
@LordMortanius
@LordMortanius Жыл бұрын
@@Super50ldier Their claim is that Talos isn't a god. It's obviously wrong, but given that Tiber Septim was a warmongering conqueror who nuked Rimmen and Alinor with a time-wrecking god robot (that even Zurin thought was going too far), it's reasonable as to why they would want to squash worship of Tiber "Genghis Khan" Septim. Given that the Thalmor haven't commented on worship of Reman, who was similarly deified, it's likely to be a personal issue with Talos. Likewise, I doubt the Khajiit are too happy with Talos either.
@LordMortanius
@LordMortanius Жыл бұрын
@@Super50ldier I never mentioned Reman. Rimmen is a city in Elsewyr that was obliterated by Tiber Septim using the Numidium. Apparently the fallout was so bad that the Khajiit were still feeling it in the late Third Era.
@LordMortanius
@LordMortanius Жыл бұрын
@@Super50ldier The Khajiit have historically never held good ties with the Mannish races, from the land grabs of Reman's time to the rebellion to the massacre of Senchal to rebellions well into the Third Era. Historically, they've also been allies of the Altmer, the slavery was done by the Dunmer with seemingly no reprisal.

Great video! One criticism though, the background of the slowly spinning portal when you have a quote on screen can be quite dizzying/disorienting when trying to read the quote, for me at least. I’m sure it wasn’t intentional, but it’s still worth mentioning.
