You know, the Thing has always been one of my personal favorite superheroes ever since I was a kid, and not just because he was a part of the Fan 4. I always loved his big heart, is tough guy personality, his love for a good fight, and of course is incredible loyalty to his friends, family, and teammates. He may look like a monster, but Benjamin J Grimm is a hero through and through.

People often talk about characters like Spider-Man as the quintessential Marvel hero. And he is. The Thing, however, gets overlooked. As he’s very much in the mold of a marvel comics hero as much as Spidey himself. Some would argue more so because he went through way more tragedy! Especially in the younger years! He may have transformed into a hulking creature with orange rocky skin, but Ben Grimm has a good heart and his catchphrase is truly legendary. I always have a thing for the Fantastic Four, Marvel's first super-powered family...and the ones who started the Marvel Age of Heroes.

Ben has been one of my favorite comic characters since I began reading comics back in the 70's. One of the strongest guys on the planet completely loyal to his friends and family and smart enough to be an Air Force test pilot which many people forget about.

What I love about Ben Grimm is that its essentiallly Jewish Golem meets down to Earth New Yorker. That despite the changes made to him Ben tries to live a life and enjoy the things he did before his change. Its why I think everyone can relate to Ben on some level. Even with his powers he would much rather be spending the day with his best gal Alicia and genuinely be there for his family and friends, be an Uncle to Valeria and Franklin and just make the best of life despite what has happened to him. Its why he was such an inspiration to me as a kid, because despite what life threw at him, he decided he wasn't going to let the universe dictate how his life was going to go. He would still love watching the game on the couch with a big sandwich, reading ghost stories, (which I love how this is a thing throughout his comic history 😂), playing poker with the other heroes in the marvel universe and being there for friends and family. To most Peter Parker was inspirational to people around me as a kid because of great power is great responsibility, but Ben Grimm to me equates to: No matter what life throws at you, don't let it change who and what you are and stop you from living a life and cherishing those around you. I love Ben Grimm ❤.

Thanks to all the retcons Ben Grimm's life pre-Thing has become almost as interesting as his life after his transformation. Now that you have cracked the seal on the Fantastic Four, you know your going to have to cover them all. So let me request a video on Susan Storm,, the Invisible Woman. This is how the movie should go for their debut. Ben and Doom should be the focal point of the story because their transformation is supposed to be a tragic event, Doom going completely to the dark side, though.

His ability to push aside all his fears and worries and dive into the thick of things. The rest of the team seem to have some of the same ability, but with Ben it just seems to be turned up to eleven.

I love the 1967 Fantastic Four cartoon, and the animated series from the 90's. I also enjoyed both the 2005 and 2007 live-action films.

I seriously do not understand the idiotic comments on several things with him on KZfaq saying that he's underrated. This dude is the breakout star of the Fantastic Four. He shown up more times in comic and media than the entire team and had several spin-off comics, one of which wasn't even his own comic series. It was like the second volume of Marvel 2 in 1. Plus his military career, before the Sliding Timescale of Marvel made it so that he was also his own grandfather, involved him meeting future Marvel heroes and villains. So unless these comments about him being underrated are clichely talking about how he can't ever get as strong as the Hulk as long as he has his Madder=stronger power, which is truthfully trivial compared to everything else Ben can do; even though he also complains about it, what the hell are these idiots talking about?
