@@stephenfarthing485 Also, one interesting fact about John S. Davis - he was actually commanding officer in military in real life, which actually allowed him to give authenticity to the series. When he passed away, he received medal in memorial for his services for the country, and was burried with national respect. Not only he was great actor. General Hammond was somehow based off his own personal experiences. Things that make you human, things that make your personality. He didn't play the role, he lived the role.

From memory, it's also supposed to be very cold (at least in the first season), so just like when you get doused in cold water, the instinct is to inhale. That would be my guess anyway

@@TKGriffiths Now I remember. I used to have so live and tense dreams (read nightmares) that I almost suffocated in my bed. Don't know whenever I was dreaming or was awake when I was slowly losing oxygen in my blood as I was unable to breathe. Before I almost passed out, I finally was able to grasp a fresh air in my lungs. That was so scary, I almost thought I'm going to suffocate. I felt like my mouth is glued as I couldn't open it. Also, I felt like my nose is solid blocked, so I couldn't breathe. I actually started to panic, when an invisible force released the tension and I could breathe again.
@jaydenchrono
@jaydenchrono 5 жыл бұрын
Just a guess, but I'd say it's because atmospheric pressure at the destination could be different. If you had a lung full of air and the destination pressure was lower, it could make for an uncomfortable out-breath since the higher-pressure air you took in on Earth would be drawn out faster than you were used to. If the destination pressure was quite high, you might find it difficult to breathe out.

If they were going to do a reboot, I would really honestly prefer they try doing a spherical gate. One that bends the light around it and you can walk into from any direction. It would also be a two-way gate that you could see right through. You looking at from any direction around it and you would see right through that side of the other gate. I think you could probably keep it inside of the same ring, but maybe it's a more advanced technology that allows two-way transit and allows you to see through the gate when you open it. I want it. I'd never walk through these things. They basically are the same concept as the magic trick in the movie "Prestige". Everytime you walk through your body gets disassembled entirely and reassembled on the other side. In other words, you die once you go through and a perfect copy comes out on the other side. For the copy it's not noticable, but the original you never arrives at your desired destination.
@SGtidbits
@SGtidbits 2 жыл бұрын
But imagine a close friend of yours steps through. Then the copy of the copy comes back a year later. Except the molecules that make you up are the exact same molecules that are used to so a more appropriate metaphor is you have your heart stopped you are then rapidly dismembered frozen so your parts are preserved transported a great distance on a convoy of trucks then perfectly reassembled at the other end and thawed and resuscitated.
