I am making another version of this quilt soon, quite different, as a commission for a Patron. I will be recording the progress here in October!
Patrons support me as I create content for this ad free channel and receive 'treats' in grateful thanks for their support, including over 100 exclusive posts
/ thelasthomelyhouse
Commissions for quilts are no longer being accepted
Here it is - the final part of the Trip Around The World Quilt that I made for Marie, who now has it and has emailed to say how much she likes it! GOOD!
The materials used were two Free Spirit Kaffe Fassett jelly rolls, make sure your jelly roll had 40 strips in each one if you are going to make this - or just cut 180 strips 2 and a half inches wide and just over 16 inches long. That would work too. The finished size is just over 60 inches by 72 inches.
The music is the royalty free stuff KZfaq lets me use
Elysium and greasy wheels

Kate I loved that you showed your brain freeze at the end of this video . I spent two hours last night cutting cardboard templates and fabric for a quilt I’m making and …. I did it all wrong 🤪Back to the drawing board 😊. The quilt is so beautiful, I love the bright colours and pattern . Lucky you had your furry supervisors on hand ❤.

I just LOVE Kaffee fabrics! You are so lucky that you may bump into him at a workshop or something. I like to use 50 weight thread also. It might be helpful to you if you search about using swimming pool noodles to roll up your top on one, the batting on another and the backing on a third. Then you can more easily rangle making the quilt sandwich. I get a 1/2" diameter piece of plumbing pipe about 6 feet long and slip it halfway down one pool noodle so I can join another pool noodle to the remaining end of the plastic pipe. In this way the pool noodle will be long enough to accommodate the width of the quilt top. I hope this makes sense!

So surprised because they have made every kind of pattern but loved this so much that they came out of hiatus. I'm taking 6 blocks in for show and tell. You inspiration You!!! Love from Tigard Oregon

Whenever I see a quilt I always think-maybe a different size, a different fabric…but not this time! I bought 2 Kaffe jelly rolls as close as I could get, (because why is maroon) so I swapped out a couple of strips, have my 30 blocks done, and had to pause for thanksgiving. Can’t wait to get back at it! Love from Tennessee!

Oh Kate, you had me laughing at your conundrum about which end of binding was right...with understanding of course. There are soooo many accolades about your quilts and rightly so but I would like to know if you sew your own clothes. You have a beautiful wardrobe of dresses, tunics and tops. I’m thinking maybe that is what I should do (along with knitting, my passion) so I can have clothes that fit me properly. It’s bringing out the sewing machine and taking over the dining room table that deters me. The grand kids come every weekend for a meal. But how I love Liberty....you’ve taken me down memory lane, another rabbit hole. Cheers, 🇨🇦

🥰💕Thank you Kate for your wonderful videos! I want you to know you saved me from losing my mind during 2 days so far in a black out. No electricity & no running water day 2! We had a bad quick storm that took down many trees & wires here in Millstone Township New Jersey thousands of people with no power. So my boys set up the iPad as a hotspot so I can watch your videos while I quilted in this blackout. Your Trip Around The World quilt is stunning it takes my breathe away when you hang it for its last & glorious photo shot. You made this difficult time during the blackout power outage bearable. Thank you Thank you 🥰💕🧶🧵👍👍

Please don't think I am nuts, but, when I first saw the quilt it reminded me of something a friends brother had when I was a kid. It was a big box of marbles in a green box. I thought Square Marbles would be a good name for the quilt. Whoever thought of square marble, I did. I like it. I don't care if no one else does. Bye. I forgot, It is absolutely beautiful, I would love to have one. I will put it on my wish list.

I am inspired to make another one and try rearranging the blocks for a different pattern. Right now working on what I call my SCRAPPY STAR. What fun Kate! Thank you for filming the last bit, where you put the quilt on your rustic playhouse! a perfect showcase for any quilt. You are so funny and honest about putting the outtake in at the end! You certainly didn't have to show us that part, but we've all done such things. You have given me an appreciation of enjoying the process of sewing, everything doesn't have to be done with a speed method. Repetitive work can be calming, and peaceful, and to be cherished. Thank you Kate.
