After much thought I finally decided what to make with the Indian block printed fabric I have leftover from the trip I took to India, many years ago. This came together so quickly, and I spent a lovely day stitching on this a few weeks ago. I can't wait to use this picnic blanket in the garden with Agnes this summer!

What is a thread bunny please?
@jenndotson6718
@jenndotson6718 Жыл бұрын
@@bethanyrosebanks2882 A thread bunny is a scrap of fabric you use before and after chain piecing your quilt blocks or strips together so that the tails are “pre-handled” before starting your next batch of chain piecing or strips. I learned about them from Kate here on her videos and they are AWESOME in how easy they make dealing with threads.

I rarely comment, but I do look forward to your videos. Today, I am unable to resist. While you were speaking, I suddenly realized I was nodding, "Yes", and making many comments! I too have loads of scraps to use up. My sister and I sew dresses for an orphanage in Africa and I take the scraps to make quilts for the grandmother's that care for these children. It is so much fun to work with scraps. I haven't done that many, but do when time and energy permit. So enjoy your content!🇨🇦

I love the modern hand quilting. When I was first doing hand quilting , it was 12 stitches to the inch! I did 4 king size, 130" x 140". My step father made me a quilting frame, it had rollers to advance the quilt as I did about 10". I have 2 of those quilts, 1 was worn out, 1 just gone(?), i now have some of my quilts machine quilted, & a great many of the tops i make, I tie & sell inexpensively or gift/donate. I sew 2 - 10 hours about 300+- daily. I admit to being a (possible), hoarder of fabric. Batiks are an addiction for me. That's fabric I design quilts fir me alone. If anyone saw my studio ( 12 x 14 ft.), they might be tempted to have me "committed "! I love the life you have created, and the support your family does for you. Enjoy spring.

Hi Kate from Oz. Love your latest Indian stripe quilt. Love the material. Also love love your seed packet quilt. My favourite colours. Unfortunately I am an 82 pensioner and the dollar exchange puts it out of my range. Luckily I have found a small quilt shop here that sells small pieces of the material and I now have enough to make it. Agne’s quilt is a masterpiece but my My favourite quilt is the first one you made with all the scrap pieces of material. It’s like how the old quilts were made. My first quilt looks like that. I made it completely by doing hand sewing. 1800 pieces. Quilts are now made in very lovely patterns but still love the old way when made for warmth. Are we going to see Anna’s quilt when finished. I’m like you Kate as I have four quilts on the go. My children think I’m a batty old lady and I say they will all be finished before I pass to my next life. Otherwise they will be left to them. Anyway l get pleasure out of watching your vireos. Sending love from Australia.

Oh, Kate, that is amazing! Seeing this quilt come together, and you waste no time at all! Looking forward to seeing the completed project! So, I was today years old learning about thread bunnies. Never heard them called that before, but so very cool that you keep them! Thank you for sharing!

Your binding is lovely! Hand sewing binding is one of my favorite parts of making a quilt!

Spray baste is very nice. It lets me feel secure about no wrinkles on the back. I do use safety pins every 6 inches. I can fold up the quilt and set it aside for a while knowing nothing is shifted before I quilt it. I love scrappy quilts, so your Indian stripes are a delight. My backs are often multipieced as well. It makes me happy to use up cloth that would be wasted. Hugs to you. ))

I LOVE that quilt! And you made it so "quickly". I can get stuff done like that, but not consistently. I just finished the alphabet in quilted scraps of fabric and batting ( 5" tall)for my grandson, so he can play and learn with the letters. It's not pretty, but colorful and they are not precious, so he can play away with them. I even made a "design board" for them to go on. I just have so much fun watching you do what you do, it's also very encouraging for me to get going with my projects. Thank you Kate!

Save your thread bunnies for Agnes. They would be so nice incorporated into a doll house or doll clothes.
