In today’s video, we’re addressing the 3 most common customer questions that our Genius team here at BMW of Morristown gets asked. Those questions are: (1) How do I reset my tire pressures? (2) How do I fix my Apple CarPlay when it keeps disconnecting? and (3) Why do my driver settings get lost and how do I get them back? Thanks . might be a small thing to some , but you are the first to fully explain about how to reset the TPMS. like press reset then drive a mile or two and let the sensor reset. Others say just press reset??? without saying you have to be in the car ready to drive off once you press reset . thank you .

Thanks! The reboot worked for apple car play not connecting. My x5 is one year old and I just did the software update. Thanks for posting.

The reset of the headunit has worked for me. I’ve always wondered what the difference between Presets and Favorites is? Im on iDrive 7. Enjoying your channels content so far!

Glad to hear that, it's a great, easy solution for many problems! And glad that you're enjoying the channel's content, we're happy to hear that! Favorites are only for Sirius XM, whereas presets work for all radio sources (AM/FM/XM). With favorites, you have additional options as far as favoriting artists and such as well.

I have the x5 2022. The dealership’s demo vehicle had screen mirroring option but my vehicle doesn’t show such feature. Would resetting help in this case. If not, any other options?

Hi there great videos can I ask you a question I have a 2023 f40 128 ti love the car but I work away all week so when I come home at the weekend the battery is nearly dead.before I got this car I had a Golf GTI and had the same issue but I was told buy the Vw guy to put a solar panel charger on the car just to keep it topped up can I do the same with the f40 128 ti hope you can help Mike from the uk thanks Mike

I would just recommend a simple battery tender (also called trickle charger). They can be bought for a very reasonable price on Amazon.

Question: If I install wheelset from other BMW ( larger wheels), will this IDrive reset recognize and read my "new" wheels and TPMS or is this procedure only for already installed and programmed TPMS? In other words, do I need those TPMS scanners to have new Wheels/Tire/TPMS properly working or BMW Idrive would do that?

2024 X7. noticed then when pulling forward into my driveway with cars parked and having to tightly pass them that my parking camera do not get activated

Make sure you have Automatic PDC activation enabled. If you do, they might be just out of view of the sensors. You can always manually turn them on using the parking sensor button.

I have a 2019 X5 am I notice my assisted driving view is missing from the settings it's completely gone from the system. I took the vehicle to the dealership, and they told me the vehicle didn't come with the features. I don't know how to get back that feature.

If you're referring to the features associated with Driver Assistance Professional, those displays should not disappear. If you're certain you had that option before, there could be an issue with the software in your car.

Screen mirroring can be finicky. It only works with certain phones and operating systems. If it's not working for you, your phone's OS is probably not compatible.

Hope you're still monitoring questions............My driver profile for one of my keys is working as expected as I am automatically recognized and am able to sync my settings with this key. When I use my other (second) key I need to manual direct the system to "switch" to my profile and input my four digit code each time. How can I set my second key to recognize me without my inputting my four digit code?

I'm not sure if you are allowed to have both keys linked to your profile, however, if it is possible, this is how you do it: Go to driver profiles, and navigate to settings. Select driver recognition, and check on link key with the key you'd like to link in the car. If it lets you, problem solved, but if not, it's because you're not allowed to have both keys linked to the same profile (which may or may not be the case, I'm not sure).

what about carplay navigation like apple maps and waze not working? i've tried the volume trick but it doesn't fix it. the only thing that works is completely shutting off the car. it works fine for 5-10 start ups, and then it starts going awire again. the issue is the maps will show in the wrong place and it keeps trying to recalculate. i know its a carplay issue because if i disconnect my phone, the navigation works fine on my phone.

It sounds like a phone issue. You can have your local service center take a look at your car just in case, but I would try troubleshooting the phone. The phone is usually the culprit in these instances, in my experience.

How about if you grab the right key and still doesnt automatically go to your profile?

If you are sure that you have the right key and your profile doesn't automatically load, the key recognition may not be working properly. I'd start by re-doing the key recognition process, and then deleting the profile and re-adding it.

After l reset the car to fix my phone issue l have now noticed that after l start the engine l lose the fuel and temp gauges.

Sounds you may have accidently activated the "reduced mode" for the instrument cluster. To undo this, go to car, settings, displays, instrument cluster, and de-activate reduced mode.

Sounds like it, yes. Make sure your profile is set up properly, and that driver recognition via key is on, to make things easier.

@@bmwofmorristown9038 I’m having the same issue, but it’s sporadic. I have my ambient lighting set to blue. Every once in a while when I get in, it’s orange. Next time I get in, it’s back to blue. I am 100% certain I am using “my” key with my profile settings and have not logged out (it tells me, “Hello, Jennifer” on the screen). I recently had the whole head unit replaced because of other bizarre behavior, but this persists. I am driving a 2023 X3. Any ideas?

@@JenniferSKinney That's a really unusual issue... one I haven't run into myself. Unfortunately it's difficult to recommend more than basic solutions without being with the car. My best advice would be to describe the issue in detail to your local service center. Sorry we can't be of more help here.

How do you change the profile Welcome name? For ex. For Roy. BMW would display “Welcome Roy”. Currently, it is using my email address as my welcome name.

It's a bit more complicated than it probably should be. You'll have to get in touch with BMW Assist, they can change it for you.

@@bmwofmorristown9038 Thank you for the reply. I read a couple of days ago that you have to have the ESA change at the dealership where you purchased the vehicle or by calling BMW 800 number. Leave it to BMW to make a simple task difficult. They over engineer everything where it is not needed. They should just provide a free form text in the car's setting called "Welcome screen" name and allow a person to type anything they want and not associate it directly to an account.

Personal hotspot or all internet connection? If you have no connection for weather, traffic etc. there might be a hardware or software issue that your local service center needs to address. Personal hotspot issues are usually related to subscriptions expiring.

Not all cars have this option equipped, especially in the recent past with chip shortage issues. If the car does have it, it can be tricky to operate sometimes. Try standing behind the car at exactly an arms length away, and move your foot in a linear motion parallel to the car. In and out quickly. Don't wave your foot or hold it under the bumper at all. Hope this helps!
