A couple days ago I was telling one of my friends about Potawatomi and who I was related to that was in the tribe, when somebody who had absolutely nothing to do with the conversation turned around and said; "No, your not native American. This is native American," And that person proceeded to show me images on their chrome book of full-blooded Natives. I tried to explain that I was, and the images they were showing me were full-blooded, but they wouldn't listen. And they thought I was lying. (Don't worry they figured out yesterday that it was true, but still.) This is why you shouldn't be confusing others or yourself about nationality vs. race. It hurts people like me who actually know the difference. How does it hurt me? I was told that my Native American tribe, and actual bloodline was 'incorrect'. What the hell. Seriously, not cool.
