*Argument:* Kalluto Zoldyke's *Dance of Confetti* is actually very powerful and should not be ranked so low, as the only enemy we see it used against, are the Chimera Ants, that a missing limb doesn't do much to. Humans missing a limb is much more serious and almost ensures death. The fact that this Ability can be used in secret, like she did when she put pieces of paper on ALL of the Phantom Troupe and be used from a distance, makes this attack truly versatile, efficient, and powerful.

Cant agree with Dr. Blythe being on this with its ability to perform life saving surgery on the fly. Maybe a bad ability in the middle of a fight but in general quite impressive. Though I understand your logic of Pitou ham fisting it together, it's still busted.

Where do people keep getting the idea that Cheetu doesn't know what happens when he actually wins the game of Tag? He just refused to answer that question. We know for a fact that Tag has worked successfully in the past, though not necessarily against a competent Nen user. When Cheetu and Morel disappeared, Leol recognized this as Cheetu's ability and said "I don't know what it does, but he won't be back for eight hours."

I'll go to the grave defending Dr. Blythe as one of the best hatsu. Thing can pretty much resurrect someone from near death or turn them into a Frankenstein monster. Komugi got up after almost being killed because of Dr. Blythe. The only comparable nen healing we have is Nen Threads which takes a fair bit of time before it becomes ready again and probably can't fix destroyed organs and keep someone on the brink of death.

Doctor blythe's ranking is poorly though out. I think its very creative to use your nen ability for medical purposes. Versatility should also be higher since it can heal most life threatening injuries.

I think Cheetu's 1st ability is quite OP if used right tho. Imagine it was in the hands of our boys instead of a chimera ant. They can trap a royal guard there ..and make them chase them , something like Morel's smoky jail , but without an escape. Its downside is that it lasts for so long.. if it was 30 minutes or an hour it would've been great. I mean if your opponent is way stronger than you , but you're faster , and smarter ( not Cheetu lmao ) you can keep them there. The ability could be better implemented like ..the more time it passes before they catch you the greater the punishment. IF Killua is faster than Meruem , he can just run around for an hour and deal dmg when the condition to catch him isn't met. The longer he lasts the greater the dmg .. Idk the ability could be quite strong imo if slightly modified.

You forget about a secondary ability from dance of the serpents bite. It’s implied that by making paper cutouts of a person and sticking confetti on them, the user can hear everything that is happening around the target, not to forget that after the defeat of the ant she fought, car mentioned that it was a nasty habit she had to prolong and torture her opponents so it seems she can do more with the ability than first shown

Pitou ability is greatly underated. Her ability didn't lead to the invasion it was her bad decision making to jump up and attack the dragon. Pitou ability is very versital.

Cheetus ability is actually brilliant. It's design was simply to take some of the elimination squad off the board for as long as possible.

I could see where Dance of the serpent's bite 6:28 could be over powered, it was 1000s of paper blades that could cut though steel . . . it was basically Byakuya Kuchiki's (scatter) from Bleach. On top of her paper dolls that could hear and track targets she would probably able to combine the two using air flow to just make a death tornado to kill her targets without being seen or near them at all plus with the amount of paper blades in the air shooting her would be extremely hard, getting close would be even harder. As an assassin with those abilities idk what could be more overpowered than her seemingly weak and dainty attacks.

The zoldycs ability only seemed that way because he was fighting an ant with a hard outer shell so he was only hittin the soft spot, now, on a regular or even nen user, waaaaay more pieces would probably hit a target. It's also very sneaky, who dodges tiny paper bits. It can definitely be used for assassination. Stick 1 to a person and just wait til they are alone then hurricane their ass lol

According to the situation Pitou's ability was S++ . She healed king, Komigu and herself. There was nothing else needed of her. For king to be able to fight and not lose his interest. King however did almost nothing with his. So it was E+ at best. However strong or smart he was.

I just realized that Camilla's ability is crazy good. When she fights, she wouldn't use any aura for defense. She could use ko without consequence. If you hit her with a normal nen punch, she dies and wins. She could even bait people into it by using zetsu right before someone lands a blow. It doesn't really matter if they know the ability. They have to restrain but not kill a proficient nen user with crazy offense and the defense of a non nen user. This severely limits the options of most. Just using ren might kill her if she doesn't use ten. What counts as killing her is also very ambiguous. Could she throw herself into ten head-first like Gon, and break her neck for the ability to activate? Even if someone knows the ability, they probably wouldn't know the exact mechanics and would have to use utmost caution.

Living dead dolls would be the best ability If our favourite octopus Just went Back finding Meruems corpse and uses it. Just think about it.

Kastro as a nen user wasn't great, but his abilities were actually pretty amazing. It was stated during his fight with Hisoka that he could've become one of the strongest nen users in the world if he'd focused on mastering the Tiger Bite Fist. And though he shouldn't have tried it in the first place, the ability to make a doppelganger that can use your other nen abilities with seemingly no reduction in power could be devastating in the right hands. It really shouldn't be so low on the list just because an enhancer couldn't master it very efficiently

Cheetus crossbow is actually solid ! If cheetu made a condition that his arrow speed is slower than he is then it will become more powerful . If he would only put some extra thought into it . It could actually be super useful but no one ever mentions it , cheetu can run extremely fast , so imagine him shooting constant arrows while running ! He could safely fire without getting too close ! And he could probably fire a lot of them in quick succession too , and he can combine the slow movement speed of the arrows with the claw he has to close gaps and get them stunned or distracted for several incoming arrows ! He could make the claw part even stronger if he is restricted to using it as a stabbing tool and only as such , so he can only impale with that claw and not slash , and can only be used on 3 occasions on the same person , if he was smart he would make this ability a godsend

Something I never thought about before now, it’s weird how Killua had never heard of nen until the age of 12(?) or so at heavens arena, but Kalluto who despite being younger than, Killua has learned about nen and developed his own hatsu? I guess that’s just one of those things that’s explained by ‘because’ lol

Double could absolutely be really useful for Castro if he used it sparingly and dumped the rest of his nen into enhancer type attacks. It would not only be extremely deadly, but it would also possibly throw opponents off as to which type of nen user he is if his ability was revealed.

Cat's Name could have been the strongest nen-beast ability ever if the actual user have decent nen power. If the user got actual killing power they would be able to start a fight with anyone and always come on top. No one would ever seen it coming.

For cats name before every battle I would get a watch that reacts to my heart beat and say "go ahead, kill me before this timer goes off or else you'll be the one not leaving this room" to make them think my ability was time gated and when my heart stops it makes the watch go off, so when I resurrect I just say "oh just a little too late" so anybody else who sees it feels a panicked need to get me as soon as possible, not giving them time to think and making it likely people spying would relay false info of my ability

The doctor hatsu was a good ability. Yeah it was thought up on a whim, but its incredibly powerful. For one it's the best/consistently useable healing ability on HxH. She saved a non Nen user girl who was hit fatally by a powerful Nen attack and kept her alive, and when she woke up was perfectly healthy. Which probably means that if you don't kill them she can bring them back to perfect condition within an hour, and can be used on yourself as well. It has incredible battle and war potential. And the user was also able use it to give themselves, who was already the strongest Royal Guard, even more power and speed. And with Nen becomes more powerful in dead, was able to keep fighting the super powered Gon. Except creativity, it should have been given 20 or more points, and if the ability was actually thought out than it would be 25.

If scissor hands had the ability to identify nen characteristics like what hatsu and which nen affinity, it would be quite a scary ability. He could have a stable job of just eating hair, but I doubt the conditions of such information would be revealed by just hair though.

I don't think some of these can be considered the worst, you are ranking these based on fighting capabilities. Some of these are support abilities, such as Palms, in a fight, she could keep tabs on all forces and can send backup when necessary changing the flow of the battle. Or nen exorcism. These abilities aren't suitable for fighting but they can be extremely helpful as support. You ranked these based on fighting capabilities and nothing else.

I've never understood the issue with cheetu all he had to do was to set a condition at the end of the 8 hours, their nen gets drained or they can't activate hatsu afterwords, the crossbow isn't as bad as people imply though, yes cheetu is faster than the bolt but even at high speeds you dont always want to close to melee, in cheetu's hands its a perfect harassment weapon, Dipping in and out of range to get shots off on the opponent, if the enemy had any reason to chase him it would be a devastating combo with really high suitability

Great video NWR! I think you have Cheetou's crossbow and claws too much credit tbh. Suitability: It's actually *counter* suitable to him since it slows down his attack speed. It's literally a detriment to his *biggest* edge in combat. Speed. Versatility: He can only use it to sh00t and that's it. It's not versatile at all. It can be used in any situation, but that doesn't mean it can be used *for* many. Creativity: It's a basic weapon that he could have bought on his own. It's so uncreative, if defeats the entire purpose of using Nen in the first place (like what Kurapika's teacher told him when he was developing his Hatsu. "What's the point of conjuring a weapon you can just buy from a store?". It's creativity isn't much above a basic sword, which is like a 1 or less. So I wouldn't give it anything above 3 tbh) Efficiency: This one is probably correct. Maybe a little less but it's ok. But with how "smart" Cheetou is I can't help but think he put wayyy more Aura into this crossbow than what would be necessary.

everyone always shit talks crossbow and claws, but when i yrc a fireball, i'm very thankful i can move faster than it and combo ahead of time. i really think it deserves more credit that the fandom gives it. if someone made a hatsu that fired slow moving projectile and in that same hatsu was included a weapon to capitalize on it AND it was made instantaneously in a moment of panic AND that same moment of panic was because the user CAN'T TOUCH THEIR OPPONENT, i would say it's pretty alright. just because it's not enough, doesnt mean it's no good at all. not sure if the claws count for tag though and i doubt cheetu did either but he didnt need to hit morel with the claws, he needed to try to sever the smoke. it just didnt work because he didnt know the smoke couldnt be cut.

*Argument:* Predator is a Nen Ability that, on the surface, is high risk / high reward. However, the existence of Zetsu reduces the risk, as the only person to successfully identify someone using Zetsu in the series is Hisoka, who is an oddity. You can argue that En would counter this, but then you lose massive amounts of aura to counter someone who is using none, which could put you at a disadvantage in a Basic Nen Fight. *Edit:* Predator, when activated, forms within the Nen User's body, which would not prevent the use of Zetsu, as it is closing the Nen apetures on the body to prevent Nen from leaving the body, making Predator one of the only Hatsu that can function while using Zetsu.

I'm every day more convinced that nen is conceptually more akin to science than to martial arts. Aura is a natural phenomenon, but the Nen theory used by characters in universe is a product of human observation. Various people over the course of history developed and named the techniques, grouped all the personal abilities under the label of hatsu, and came up with the type wheel to describe the recurring patters in what different nen users were good or bad at. We’re told by Wing that his school was founded by chairman Netero. Whether he was the one to invent the entire system, or it has been around for many centuries, at some point there must have been countless different paradigms to describe aura; as to why the current one stuck around and became common sense, the reasons can be many. Every field of real world science has historically adopted the most accurate model at any given time until a better one is found, nen could just be the closest people ever got to solving the puzzle of aura. Or perhaps it was the explanation that best resonated with most people, making it easier to teach. Maybe Netero had an active role in normalizing it, heck! Maybe it’s not even the dominant system and it’s just a coincidence that all the characters we meet have adopted it. Most likely it was a combination of these and many other factors. One thing is sure, it appealed to the specific needs of the nen using demographic, that being hunters who need the strength to survive their job, and people determined to obtain power for better or for worse. It’s fairly obvious how the way nen is taught puts a big emphasis on the martial art part of it; just looking at the techniques you can see many of them were developed specifically to deal with other nen users (zetsu and in for stealth, en and gyo to counter them...) because most of the people who end up knowing about it are those who will need the power it provides. Humans in universe developed a system to describe the phenomenon of aura and it's good enough that we can follow and teach it to harness its power in a predictable fashion, it's like when newton finally looked at things straight and discovered a formula that explains how things fall and a bunch of other things about nature, he was a smart guy, but while they all work fine in our day to day life, fast forward a few centuries and it turns out he missed most of everything there was to discover about the mechanics of the universe. Specialization shows there's still a lot we don't understand about nen and it's being grouped aside for the sake of simplicity. Specialists are those who challenge the system and stumble upon this uncharted territory which is there with its rules, we just don’t get it. In real world physics there's also a "things we don't understand" heap, stuff like quantum mechanics. We observe it and it works, we use it to build computers and every science fiction writer likes to quote that experiment where they kill half a cat to immediately make their story 40% smarter (watchmen aside). But nobody actually has any idea of why it works the way it does. Specialization is the quantum mechanics of nen. But unlike the way we treat new discoveries in our world, it mostly gets ignored and cast aside by nen users as the exception instead of trying to understand it better. It's not hard to see how Togashi's thought process when he made the first specialist abilities was subverting the rules he had set in place the arc before. Rules like “Type affinity always works in those specific percentages.” or “Nen users can’t use the same hatsu as someone else.” Others are more subtle like Neon going against the notion that nen users personally develop their powers and always know everything about them, that is a defining feature of nen as a power system but even it can be subverted. The trend continued later on with the likes of Meruem challenging the idea that Hatsu is needed to fight effectively (the association only makes you an official hunter after your teacher thinks your hatsu training is good enough), but as more specialists were added Togashi started to also heavily associate it with information gathering, that too being distant from the common view of nen as mainly a fighting tool. The specialist personality seems harder to pinpoint than the other ones, Hisoka says they're charismatic and individualistic based on the only two he's probably ever known, and some fan theories link obsession to it, but I feel like it all misses the point. If this is the "anything else" type, there can't be a unifying personality trait. Or better, if there is one it has to be the same thing that unifies the abilities. Here’s my take, specialists are people who happen to find a crack in the system. It takes a very non conforming mind to even attempt to do so after you learn nen, thus Hisoka describing them with the adjectives he does. Obsession only helps in so far as giving those with a predisposition for specialization a reason to challenge the accepted paradigm. Another way to be an outsider is to never partecipate in the system in the first place, that's the case of nen geniuses and chimera ants, and when you look at those two groups, specialization doesn’t look so rare after all. The mere notion that specialists are the odd, most unlikely cases might be making it considerably harder for those with the potential to ever discover it. Actually, I shouldn’t be talking about potential in the first place because specialization isn’t a skill, it’s the dark continent in a world where most people never leave the known land. The personality of a specialist is the personality of someone who can adventure outside the limits we forced upon ourselves to cope with our inability to know how far the unexplored land extends. Applied to our own world, that's the type of people who end up fueling human progress, we call them scientists. However, because nen reacts to the mind of the user and has the immediate effect of giving power to them, the priests and the martial artists who spend their life in meditation discovered it before the scientists, and it’s not hard to imagine that until the hunter organization came around it never managed to spread outside of those demographics. With the chairman having been the quintessential religious martial artist for the better part of a century that view of nen is the dominant one to this day. But that guy is dead now, and who is the new chairman? A furry who obtained three stars working in the highly scientific field of medicine. Is the nen science revolution approaching? Also, Netero is my favorite character in the franchise, just mentioning that before people get mad at me.

I think Kalluto's ability is a bit better than it looks. She uses it against a kimera ant with a hard shell, but is able to use the targeted blasts to tear it to pieces. Against a human target, the confetti would basically be a hailstorm of mini blades and be extremely dangerous for any non enhancer characters. Plus only having to carry around paper and a fan as apposed to say Illumi's needles would be a great advantage for an assassin.

This is why i love hxh. The main character isnt the strongest on the story nor feared by villain. Instead the main character deal with alot of hardships, hiding and running from phantom troupe. No such power as the power of friendship. Even Gon got rotted to death and killua fainted out because of blood loss. The story is the most interesting ive ever seen

Karuto's Dance of the Serpent's Bite is most likely not a nen ability but a technique using nen. His nen ability may rather be control over paper? Wich would be formidable (see Read or Die for paper based abilities) both in power and versatility & even creativity.

I think Battle Waltz is one of the best abilities they could have picked to showcase nen. It has conditions and restrictions as well as being an interesting use, and it trumps anyone who can't actually use nen
