Ok. No-one has to justify anything that they like. It makes you a whole person.

Potential video idea: find a prog album comparable for non-prog rock/metal albums. I think this can help introduce proggers to poppier music.

so believe it or not I became a taylor swift fan in 2019 thanks to your channel. After watching one of your videos about her i thought to myself, "hey I never listened to taylor how is this possible?" so I went on spotify listened to blank space and that was the beginning of my fandom. Folklore is my favourite album by her and I love that this new one has the same vibe. BTW I will be seeing her live this summer in milano (italy) for the eras tour alongside paramore (yay). So hyped! so thanks for introducing me to her :)

TTPD has become not only my favorite TS album, but my fave album of all time. (And I'm a 66yo guy who enjoys a wide range of music so "all time" consists of several decades of great music.) I've seen numerous people saying this album is just "more of the same" and I have a different perspective on that. As I see it, she is deepening and perfecting several elements that I love most in music. (I became a swiftie about a year ago after hearing folklore/evermore. I heard Midnights first and liked it well enough to explore the other albums. I eventually discovered that I like all of Taylor's albums.) But back to the "more of the same" comments. I do love when Taylor ventures off into new territory, but I don't understand why that should be the gold standard for judging her albums. Why does she have to reinvent herself on every album? Did Elvis have to do that? Perry Como? Barbara Streisand? Johnny Cash? I'm not saying they didn't evolve as artists, but I don't recall people slinging mud and being pissed if those artists didn't reinvent themselves with each and every album. (I'm not saying you are doing that, but it seems to me that a lot of people are.) Perhaps it is just a more modern mentality and not something specifically aimed at Taylor but, in any case, I think it's a bad idea. Yes, growth is great, but so is digging deeper into the well. But, to be honest, TTPD did not even strike me as "more of the same". I guess I must focus on things differently that most people. While other people were hearing "the same old stuff", I was being blown away by what - to me - felt like some substantially new things going on in TTPD. In retrospect, if I squint and look in a certain light, I can detect some of the similarities that people are talking about, but those are similarities that I love so I'm not the least bit annoyed about it. Instead I'm ecstatic about it. BTW: Billboard is doing a poll where you vote for your favorite TTPD song. (As of today, you can still vote.) I find it interesting that all 31 songs have some votes. That seems like a sign of a great album. Every song is someone’s favorite. I like all of the songs, and all of the songs keep getting better with each re-listen. Yeah I was not kind to this one, not a swiftie 😂. 2 hours of this is too much IMO. I like some tracks from her.

"The Tales of Topographic Oceans of Taylor Swift" if there isn't a pointless five minute drum solo in the last track I ain't listening :P

As an outsider I gave it a go, and I couldn't stand for it, after 5 songs of blandness, unoriginality and cringe lyrics (cause thats whats the album is kinda going for) I droppped it. I really can't see someone who isn't already a Taylor Swift fan liking it.
