Skyline is their best album IMO as well. Detachment has grown on me with time from being 4th to my 2nd favorite prior to Time Voyager. I think Coffee in Neukolln and Time Voyager are both solid albums competing to be 3rd or maybe even 2nd. Seven Seas is my least favorite of their English lyric albums. It has a few tracks I like still. But none that really captivate me like a song or two from all of the other albums. If this reviewer likes grand epics, he’ll probably like Kyrie and Fool’s Epilogue from Coffee in Neukolln. Back to you is also a great song from the album IM0.

Holy shit.. you’re finally getting to Alcest… I’ll add onto what someone else has said. Go back and listen to “Kodama”. Right up there with “Sunbather” from Deafheaven or “The Mantle” from Allagoch in terms of the all time best of the post-black/blackgaze albums Also “L’Enfant de la Lune” translates to The Child of the Moon, or “The Moonchild”

Very happy to hear a review of Alcest album! I like some of their prior material and hearing your opinion on their new material is definitely interesting.

I do not like the remasters. Period. I love the originals. I started listening to them in 1997 when I heard part of Flower Power on an internet radio station. The guitar gets into my bones, similar to Clapton and Santana. Every time I hear the remasters - it just sounds wrong...

I really enjoyed this album! I didn't really care for their last two albums and even wasn't sold too much on King is Dead, but this feels like such a fun album that mixes together the best elements from Her Majesty, King is Dead, and even Hazards.

"Owner of a Lonely Heart" was fun, the first 10,000 times. Don't start me start about "All Good People/Your Love". At every Yes concert I attend, I took a bathroom break for that one. I love "Magnification" so much - the Last Great Yes Album. "Going for the One" is number one to me, "Close to the Edge", second, "Tales" third, and "Yessong" the best live. So many tears of joy and ecstasy for a great Yes song!

A very good Kaipa record, but you're right : it's too long and too samey. I think that Urskog is WAY better ( less singing, more cohesive and more jazz-fusion overtones). In fact Urskog is my favourite Kaipa with Keyholder, In the Wake of Evolution and Notes from the Past.

I saw them playing live many times here in Sweden in the late 70:s and early 80:s. For me their masterpiece is their second album "inget nytt under solen".

Good review! I do like “Time” in my top 6. Zoom actually features George and Ringo on some tracks. Xanadu basically has 4 ELO songs. Not really sure how it even ranks above full albums (Zoom, Time, Discovery), but I agree the songs are decent. I’m glad you liked “Secret Messages”, def underrated. “Eldorado” is hugely over-looked as far as I am concerned. Mystical, emotional and conceptually creative second to no one.

CAS is one of my favourite Genesis albums!! And I totally agree that One Man's Fool is a massive song, especially in terms of build up. Same goes with Alien Afternoon. These songs build up to something epic, just like "Driving The Last Spike" does.. Also, they could've easily made a new album with the stuff they saved for the B-Sides. A song like "Sign Your Life Away" always gives me a glimpse of what early 2000's Genesis might've sounded like😊

Putting the Void in last place is absolutely criminal. I love the album as a whole, but around the 9.30 mark and onwards in 'Note' alone should shoot it up about 5 places. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q7uEY5yr38vLiYE.htmlsi=mQsAWPjGLb1pobon&t=563 1. Mammoth 2. Biggering is definitely darker and more raw. Sometimes we automatically put darker and gruesome themes over happier ones to feel like we have grown up. I think either song is a toss up. The worst danger is not knowing that you are in danger. Your character doesn't change overnight. It creeps up on you, little by little. Sometimes you never even catch it. If this is the case, then this is exactly what "How Bad Can I Be?" nails. His attitude slowly gets more delusionally confident. When the brass bass on the end of the song keeps lowering on each phrase, the Once-ler quits his effort to actually sing notes and instead hug his product and count his money. When he hits the guitar on the diminished 5th the song lets it roar while he also loses his rhythm, as if he has gone mad. He doesn't say what he says in biggering, but this is also intentional possibly for the worse. He regains his rhythm and continues the bass line one note further for the very last phrase. He's not as insane as in biggering, but he is more under control and less likely to be escaped from, hence they also made him a giant.

I agree with a lot of your points. I’ve begun to purge my vinyl collection down to the ones I really want to listen to. I think I fell into that “display”, FOMO mentality for awhile. I buy more CDs now too.

I've watched many Yes rankings and I understand the parameters but exceptions can be made. The Anderson Bruford wakeman Howe studio album is more of a Yes album than others in their catalog. I think it should always be included. I'm sure the the YES name was legally available to them they would have called it that.
