I got a chance to meet him randomly one day and it was a real pleasure, the guy wouldn't stop smiling and was excited to meet a fan. I was already a huge fan of his, but that just made it more endearing. I'll always remember that random encounter. RIP Eddie, Latino Heat!

As heartbreaking as that is.. at least Chavo can find comfort in the fact Eddie didn't die alone. I was asleep when my husband passed. He died alone and that thought alone brakes me on the daily. Rest in Peace Eddie 🙏

To this day, I still take Eddie's death the hardest out of all the pro wrestlers who died. Mainly because Eddie had such a connection that he really did feel like a member of the family to us the fans. His death was sad because he lost everything and worked his way back up and conquered his demons. He hit the best stride of his pro wrestling career and he was suddenly taken from us. I think Eddie's legacy in pro wrestling will always be that despite being flawed, he was a perfect all around performer who made anything work no matter how bad it was and he helped countless numbers of up and coming future wrestlers. RIP Eddie Guerrero, may you have found the peace in the afterlife that you only briefly got to enjoy in life. Viva La Raza!

I got to see Eddie face off against the big show in a house show in Glasgow, Scotland. He was great... and the crowd loved him. He was an excellent champion, his lie cheat and steal angle was entertaining as all hell and got him over and his charisma was almost unmatched in the wwe. Glad I got to see him wrestle before he passed at such a young age. The tribute show to him was full of people who genuinely loved him and was incredibly touching. He'll always be remembered.

I grew up into the lowrider scene. I lived in El Paso and I'm latino. I instantly felt a connection to Eddie. He was the reason I started watching wrestling in the early 2000s. Outside of Owen Hart, Eddie's death was the most shocking to me. He wasn't an over the hill performer. He didn't show any signs of being sick. He was 38 , and at the top of his game. He seemed like he was gonna get another run with the title. Heck it has only been a year since he was the champion.

11:25 Vickie is SPOT on with that. I was with a chick who had substance issues but denied it like crazy, there was no reasoning with her. So I just had to drop her like a bad habit. Fortunately it wasn't serious and there wasn't any family involved, but still. Just sucks when people have a better connection with substances than anything else. I mean I'm all for enjoying that kind of stuff casually but you need to know when to stop. And unfortunately, what Eddie was doing has never NOT been common even to this day.
@thestrong2401
@thestrong2401 Жыл бұрын
Taking that stuff even casually will eventually lead you to become an addict, if you need a substance to enjoy yourself or get over your problems you are weak, you should find happiness and peace with yourself in healthier things and not take the easy shorcut to it especially when that doesn't even last that much. Eddie was able to find his freedom from those substances in religion, but it can be anything really, taking drugs is just unnecessary and foolish.
@Liverpool5095
@Liverpool5095 11 ай бұрын
@@thestrong2401Absolute ignorant nonsense. Your wayward statements directly go against statistical facts. The good thing is that while the narrative you've been programmed with was the common belief decades ago, today you are in the minority which underlines the positive steps society has taken on the topic of addiction, which will never be as simple and easily explained as you would like to believe it is. The irony is that you yourself have shown your own mental weakness by being programmed to have such an oversimplified and statistically dis-proven belief on a matter that can never be seen in such a black and white manner.

Maybe it's just because of how much he hated the company, but I actually think Eddie was wrong in thinking that WCW never gave him chances to bring out more of his personality. His talking segments were great in the whole LWO angle, and even before that, his feud with his nephew Chavo was some of the most entertaining stuff non nWo related at the time. Again, maybe it's just because of how he personally felt toward the company (Again, why? Because he was never WCW World champion? Sorry, but in that time period, he was never seen at that level anyways), but I recall him being a multi time midcard champion and definitely getting a chance to show some character in that company.

This video made me relive the date when I saw the GAB PPV back in 2004 (for some reason I thought it was 2003, but oh well). I enrolled in APW wrestling dojo in Hayward, California in 2001, just months after WWF bought WCW and the business was about to start taking a dive in ratings and popularity. Not to mention, I was dealing with a nasty divorce from my first wife, and my daughter was around 2 years of age at the time. My mind was really not in the right place. My training and focus to become a wrestler wasn't there. I sometimes skipped training, I was a dick to my peers, and when they would treat me the same way i treated them, I believed they hated me for no reason. To say that I had a "victim's mentality" is putting it mild. So in mid 2003, I had a huge argument with the founder and owner of APW aka Roland Alexander, who he told me something that was 100% true "YOU ARE 5 FOOT NOTHING, WEIGH 200 NOTHING. AND IF BY SOME MIRACLE YOU MAKE IT TO THE WWF (we still called it that even after the change of name to the E), YOU'LL BE NOTHING MORE THAN BATISTA MEAT!" That was the last time I stepped foot in APW. Fastforward a year or so later, I'm watching the GAB PPV at my aunts house, since my oldest cousin was a huge wrestling fan. And when I saw Eddie beat Brock for the WWE title, I got so emotional that I started crying. Seeing someone of my same ethnicity, same height and same size win the ultimate belt, gave me hope that someone under 6foot can actually become a mega star. And years later, I flirted w/the idea of giving pro wrestling another GO, last one being in 2019 to 2020 when I was already in my 40s w/a new wife and two sons, because I was invited to join by none other than Bobby Horne aka Sir Mo in his promotion SOAR CHAMPIONSHIP WRESTLING, but after the global lockdown, the cancel culture environment everyone was dealing with at the time, and seeing that my two sons were growing right in front of me and wanted to stay home and not just travel the country and risking my life for little to no pay, I quietly walked away. I have no regrets. I'm thankful for that cup of coffee, which enabled me to get the bug out of my system. It enabled me to put all my focus from the mat into rebuilding my family life, improve my skills in my career as an accounts payable processor, rebuild my credit, which in the end, enabled me to buy my home for my family and I. So no. No regrets here. I'm thankful that I was able to try my hand in the squared circle and thankful that Eddie Guerrero proved that you didn't have to be jacked nor tower anyone like the Hogans, Lugers, nor Nashes of the past. When you have talent, can work, and actually draw money, you are going to shine. Thank you once again for this video. And yes, thank you for allowing me to share my heart with all of you. Rick
