The only good thing that came of it was one of the boys actually getting jumped and beaten by other inmates when he turned fifteen HAHA Their identities were actually released for a while before twitter and facebook took them all down. I'm actually a bit suspicious on why they're trying so hard to protect a rapist and murderer's identities? They must be directly related to someone in a higher position of law enforcement because it otherwise doesn't make any sense to protect them after such a repulsive crime.

@@meep_murp8758 no, ireland's justice system is just shit is all. apparently most people in the surrounding area of the crime know their identities, so I'd say it's only a matter of time before it becomes public knowledge through gossip and whatnot. or at least I would hope so, those scumbags don't deserve anonymity for what they did.

I actually had a two year old son at the time of his murder and every time I looked at my son's beautiful, innocent little face, all I could see was James and the thoughts of what had been done to him. I remember seeing Ana walking home from school everyday when I was going to work, she was always alone with her headphones on, often with her head down, but she would smile at you if she saw you, I didn’t know her well but she seemed like a really kind hearted person. Reading about her after she died she reminded me so much of myself growing up, and finding out she was bullied by my neighbours, by friends little siblings, I felt so sick, not only boy A and B but many many young boys and girls who made her life so hard, I wish I had known, or anyone had known and done something for her, in the end she just wanted acceptance and they used that against her. All love to her and her family ❤

Life doesn’t mean life in Ireland . Our justice system is way too easy on these murderers. You could kill someone and be out in 17years, 12 if you behave in prison. It’s ridiculous 🙄. The families would be grand people always move in and out of that area and lots of renting going on . In 10 years there won’t be anyone left that would remember them so like I said previously. They will be living full lives by the time their 30 probably earlier and poor ana is gone forever. I just don’t see that as justice 🥺

Irish justice system is fucked as it is you could commit murder and be out in less than 7 yrs with good behaviour a life sentence here is 20 yrs (I think) if these two boys can commit an atrocity like this then they should’ve gone to proper prison not what I’d essentially a juvenile centre..

I am so sorry for your pain, it's often hidden under the surface and many people won't realize what you're going through. I don't want to be cliché, I have dealt with similar experiences for years. Middle school was the worst of it, kids can be so cruel. I became shut off and withdrawn even from friends and family. I'm awkward. But, there's hope. There are people who love you, and want you to feel accepted. It's really hard, I know, but things will improve. The people picking on you are insecure and don't understand how their actions don't make them, "cool", but in fact make them pathetic. One day, they might understand. Dear, I know it's difficult to go through that in those sensitive years. I wish you could find source of self love and respect, not through the eyes of other youth who still have so much to learn and to grow in all respects, but seek the value in things that matter. I know how lonely it can be, but do not give up, those who turn their back on you, they don't matter, be the best version for you, to have better future, seek knowledge, play sport, have fun, think of the better future. In few year you will regret giving the bullies any time of the day. Instead of being happy that you have food to eat, clothes to keep you warm, health, all your limbs, I hope, people seek victims to make themselves feel better by putting others down. Much love

This case really struck me. Most of the things described about Ana were me as a child. The constant bullying, self harm, having 0 friends and just wanting one. I was beat up so much as a child but now I'm a very happy adult, with a strong friendship group and a lot self worth and confident. I just wish she had grown up and could have turned her negative experiences around and realised that she didn't need anyone to feel validated. She could have turned something that she was bullied for (her height) into a carer as a model. RIP sweet girl.

ditto. my schooling for the most part was pretty traumatic - I was relentlessly bullied throughout primary school - and often thought things wouldn’t get any better for me. I’m now 26, and have such a diverse and close knit group of friends. I refuse to engage with people who have any form of nasty streak in them. I wish Ana had the opportunity to grow up and experience life after school, as it gets so much better.

Me too. She deserved the chance to grow up and she that it gets better. There are still ugly people, but there are more who know everyone is not the same, and that’s ok. It’s so tragic that she never got to feel the warmth of others, or of a mature self-understanding, and finally bloom.

It’s crazy how something like this can happen so close and nobody notices until it’s too late!
