Yeh drug dealers who are adults and entirely responsible for their own actions. The kids were punished and work was done to rehabilitate them and give them a better life to help normalise the warped mindset caused to them by the extreme neglect and abuse they suffered. They didn’t deserve any longer.

@@Jess-wk5oh We know the difference but we still can be vicious, especially when young. My brother tried throwing the bed over me, and I beat his ass, he stabbed me with a knitting needle right through my arm and I put his head through the door. Later I put him through my others glass table, lucky for me the bigass shards never pierced his neck or a vital artery. In my defence, there was an incident with a bread knife. This was all before we I went to secondary school, that was at 11.

They where ten years old. As much as im against protecting killers ect, one thing you cannot argue with is their thinking. How horrible is it that ten year old boys did this? Why did they even know what to do? you know what i mean? but also, none of the children discussed had their rights protected in this case. Jamie: A Right to Life. The Killers: The right to be tried in an adolescent court, for crimes committed as adolescents. Ethically, screw the killers, they killed a 2 YEAR OLD, but legally, they have the same rights to a fair trial, in the correct court, as you and i do.

I think one of them is married and has settled down and may possibly have a child however the mother would be unaware as the two boys were given anoninimity so a whole new name and backstory etc... However, one of them I belileve no longer deserves his anoninimity as he has been caught and imprisoned a few times for posession of child pornography - but the courts won't allow it. I can't remember how old I first heard of the case but have since had to study it when I did Forensic Science in college and it never gets any easier. It changed how old you had to be to be tried as an adult in court, I believe. (not 100% sure if that's correct just going off of memory). But I do agree, ten is more than old enough to know right from wrong. At the age of 5 max, I knew what was right and what was wrong and knew that doing something wrong would have consequences.

@imbuffysummers
@imbuffysummers 5 жыл бұрын
It seems to me like the punishment of their every day lives leading up to the murder is what caused them to behave the way they did so I’m genuinely confused as to why people think even more punishment would do anything to reshape them into better people. They did something terribly unspeakable, yes, obviously, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t also victims themselves. I’d imagine that they felt they were being punished just for existing every single day of their lives and further punishment would do nothing but make them worse. I can understand why people think locking them away and tossing the key would be a solution for people who are fearful of potentially being effected by any future actions, but in my opinion everyone who is capable of rehabilitation should be given the opportunity for recovery. What I can’t understand is how people can be aware of how badly they had both suffered prior to this act, which was clearly a result of how deeply broken they were and as devastating as it is that James and his family has to suffer so much as a result, but ultimately that will never change the fact that both boys were severely neglected and had slipped through the cracks of society which left them in a position to inflict such harm in the first place. This is a situation where it’s clear why they may have thought what they did was reasonable up until the part they realized that it wasn’t and they thought they’d be in even more trouble if they didn’t dispose of the body, which is a result of their age and lack of awareness. They weren’t blatant monsters as can be easily suggested for many other cases; they were disturbed and prone to hostile situations based on their upbringing and all the violence they’ve witnessed and had inflicted upon them. I want to reiterate that none of this excuses what they did by any means, but I still believe it needs to be taken into account and I can’t help but suggest it’s possible that what they physically did to James is what those two boys were internally experiencing emotionally. The justice system definitely failed these boys, only it wasn’t any decisions after the murder and trial that facilitated the reason for this failure, instead it was the fact they were left in a situation that’s unfit and unsafe for a child, allowing them to experience such injustice in their daily lives, and culminated in the mental deterioration that provoked them to act out on their frustrations by taking that anger out on poor, innocent, sweet James. May he Rest In Peace. I hope those boys (men) are able to continue getting the appropriate help they so clearly need, otherwise, yes, there is always the likelihood that they could continue to pursue immoral choices as an outlet. The harsher they’re punished can never bring James back and change what happened, but it’s still an opportunity for them to have been removed from the destructive lives they were forced into as children and finally allow them a chance to grow up and do something positive with their lives. It may be too late to have helped them before they caused harm, but because the privilege of having a healthy childhood had been robbed from them so early in life at no fault of their own, it’s not too late to restore their right to an environment that allows them to grow into the best people they can be despite the circumstances, which maybe will someday bring more good to this world if they’re able to be a positive advocate for other children who are currently experiencing such conditions right now as I write this, and any other future children forced to try their best to thrive in similarly unjust circumstances.

The parents of the murdered child should have been able to decide if these sickos got out. @@charlottewilliams574 Vigilantism is rarely good, you're right on that (although sometimes, when they get the right people, it can be satisfying, in a twisted way). I would feel bad for someone getting attacked if they were just mistaken for being one of them. On the flip side, if I came across them, or one of them, and there was no doubt it is him, God forgive me for what goes down, because it will be a bloodbath. People need to be aware, and if some vigilante attacked me in a case of istaken identity, I think I could forgive them, as they were emotionally driven and I get that. I just wanted to list the specifics of Venables’ crimes after his release for James’ murder. “At the court hearing, it emerged that Venables had posed in online chat rooms as 35-year-old Dawn "Dawnie" Smith, a married woman from Liverpool who boasted about abusing her 8-year-old daughter, in the hope of obtaining further child sexual abuse material.” “The officer's suspicions were aroused, and the computer was taken away for examination leading to the discovery of the child sexual abuse material, which included children as young as two being raped by adults, and penetrative rape of seven- or eight-year-olds.” “On 7 February, Venables pleaded guilty to possession of indecent images of children for a second time. He pleaded guilty via video link to three charges of making indecent images of children, and one of possessing a "paedophile manual", that included advice for would-be child molesters, including instructions on child grooming and evading detection.” “He admitted being in possession of 392 category A, 148 category B, and 630 category C child pornography images, and was sentenced to three years and four months in prison. In September 2020, he was denied parole.” Why they keep protecting this vile creature who is clearly a danger to society is beyond me.

@Daisyxo no, that's where people are wrong. unfortunately, many don't feel that or are incapable. you're assuming they're neurologically and socially like you/others, but this case proves otherwise. maybe the one who was more of an accomplice, but I doubt it. when people ask "how can people like that sleep at night?" it's because they do not experience empathy or remorse. they do not have that reaction and so it's not a problem. it can be emulated for social interaction, but that response is not actually going on in their brain. and the fact that they were, as OP said, practically rewarded and safeguarded after committing such an awful crime would further allow for them to NOT harbor negative feelings towards their actions - in general and to a growing brain that could've been somewhat impacted by proper rehab and therapy if they weren't too far gone.

I dont get how 10 year olds can do such things. When I was ten I hit my brother with a shopping trolly and bought him a ice cream. I wouldn't even be able to kill anyone whilst I'm older. These kids have been doing incredibly bad things for years but they continue to get new identities. These children think they could do whatever they wanted because of the lack of proper punishment. If you just put someone in jail for a little while even if the crime is awful they will do it again. The poor kids who found the bodies need therapy because of the horror of seeing a child's dismembered body. James was such a good little boy and had such a bright future, unfortunately these boys took that all away. The poor mother who lost her baby must be heartbroken. Losing a baby must be one of the most terrible feelings ever. The poor kids who found the body now are grown up and have physiological issues after being traumatized by seeing a poor toddlers body that was split in two. The two kids had PTSD because of the body and coped with drugs and they have been in prison several times.

He thinks he can do whatever he wants, spend a small amount of time in prison and then go back to life as usual. The fully decorated room they got, I had a metal bed with a one inch padded mattress, a pillow that 100s had used before me, and a paper thin hospital blanket. We were allowed maybe 7 outfits. I'm so torn on this. I understand how it sounds like the boys were rewarded for their horrible actions and in some ways I do think they were. But also rehabilitation is super important and it sounds like it worked for one of the boys. As for Jon, I don't think they should keep giving him new identities. I can understand giving him the first one after he finished serving his time, but he's an adult now. If he wants to reoffend or tell other people his old identity, that's on him. At some point, there have to be consequences.

there is no such thing as rehabilitation, especially in prison. We are led to believe that offenders ans prisoners receive psychological help and rehab when doing their service, but in reality its all a myth. Prisoners are tormented even more once they are locked up. By other prisoners and often by the officers too. Once they are released, they are literally let into the real world with nothing. No support, no tools for making a decent living, no purpose, no care. In many cases offenders re-offend because they WANT to be locked up again, because that is the only life they know. In an ideal world, all offenders would be rehabilitated and rewired, but sadly the funds and resources arent there
@bestpoubelle5332
@bestpoubelle5332 2 жыл бұрын
@@hallefranklin2646 To say there is "no such thing as rehabilitation" is not true. I agree that the funds and resources we want to have available for folks are often not there but that doesn't mean there is no help or support. There's certainly not nearly enough support available currently (especially in the US which is much more punishment focused than rehabilitation focused). You're right, in many ways society works against our positive intentions which just results in a revolving door of prison convictions because if nothing else prison does give you structure, regular meals, and a dry place to sleep.

These children literally TORTURED this little boy, he was crying the entire time on the way to the train tracks, up until he died, and they still tortured him anyway. It doesn't matter that they were 10 years old and had a rocky childhood, yes its incredibly sad bc this definitely impacted their way of thinking etc., but the fact remains that they brutally tortured this little baby to death. Most murderers and serial killers start out by killing animals as children, but these children not only killed an actual human being, they tortured him in the most cruel and horrific ways. Once a person/child/adult/human reaches that point of complete lack of empathy and just any sense of humanity, there is no point of return. They knew what they were doing, they chose to do it. They went on as normal afterwards as if nothing happened and with no real sign of remorse. Imagine what they could be capable of doing as adults. The one has literally been arrested for possession of child pornography TWICE. Like I'm sorry, they should have been given life in prison because they do not deserve to be free and have a chance at happiness while that little boy lost his life, his parents lost their baby and those kids must be scarred for life after stumbling onto the most gruesome scene of his mutilated body. So many people's lives were changed by this, but they were given a free 'holiday' which was probably much better than their home life before and now anonymity to live amongst people who have no idea what they are capable of. Definitely not right or fair.

I am currently pregnant with a little boy and... I couldn't finish this. I haven't had my little angel yet, but it's horror stories like this that make me even more protective before he's even seen the light of day. That poor mother will be replaying the moment she let go of his hand forever... God Bless her and keep her heart safe. I can't imagine how she felt throughout this entire ordeal, nor how she could handle the details. I'll always have my baby sat right in front of me, I don't care if he can walk yet... he'll be sitting in that shopping cart and he will NOT be leaving my grip!

Same! I have 4 siblings and we all had our spots on the cart, I was in the front because I was the youngest. It got to the point where my dad had to take some time off work to watch me and my siblings because my mother was so paranoid! It went on like that until we were all at school, but it’s happening again because my parents recently adopted a 5-year-old, when I babysit I always make sure she’s in sight, it’s so scary. I’m appalled at what happened to him!

The right thing would have been giving them the opportunity for safe upbringing and lots of therapy, ideally payed with depth they would be asked to pay when adults. Then as they've grown up and can actually understand serious punishment, they should have had to go to actual prison. A child can't understand punishment like that, and they shouldn't have to. They clearly had problems with their family, and some serious problems with their psyche. It's a clear lack of responsibility from the side of society to leave children capable of these kind of actions without help they need.

I was only seven at the time and this is the first major news story I remember. I didn't find out about them torturing James until I was an adult though. I'm originally from near to where it happened and most people from there (myself included) consider James' killers to be complete scum and feel that they should've got a much longer and harsher punishment than they did. I've also heard various stories over the years of John Venables drinking in Merseyside pubs and then telling people his real identity when he's drunk (usually getting beaten up afterwards); whether these are true or not I'm not sure.

It’s heart breaking that the poor little boy was showing affection like that. the poor baby :( I held my sleeping 3 year olds hand watching this. Someone could have stopped them! This has hurt my heart. R.I.P James 💙

I researched the case more and I found that when the father of James found out that James left with 2 young boys, he said he felt a sense of relief and smiled and told his wife that James gonna be alright, he’s with two young kids - he’s gonna be alright. I am heart broken.

No, because when I was 10, the only thing I thought about when I went to a shopping center was what My Little Ponies I was gonna buy or if my mum would let me go to Smiggle. I don't know HOW a kid so young that they weren't even in secondary school would do such a horrible thing to such a small, innocent boy...

The lack of punishment in this case is appalling in comparison to horrible crime they committed. If they had committed that crime at such a young age I can only imagine what they would be capable of as adults. My heart goes out to this poor mother that had to live with knowing what happened to her poor baby 😔😡💔 James didn’t get to go shopping, to the park, to McDonalds, watch tv, etc. Yes, I get the goal of rehabilitation, but it sounds like their lives didn’t change nor did they suffer any major consequences for what they did!

i feel so bad for that poor baby's mother, i cried so much during this video, both angry and sad tears. The injustice of it all is shocking. They should never be given a new life, they should be made to face the shame of what they did.

Annie Banany what the hell is wrong with you? This case is horrifying, and I have all the sympathy for the mother, but they were ten years old and clearly disturbed. There should be no room for personal vendetta within our court system.
