The TRAGIC Reason Chris Rock Didn't React to Will Smith at the 2022 Oscars

By now, you’ve probably seen the footage of Will Smith losing his cool at the 2022 Oscars in defense of his wife, Jada Pinkett. A lot of people assume the entire incident was staged, especially since Chris took it like a G. However, there’s a deeper reason why he tolerated the disrespectful treatment, and it all stems back to his childhood.

I am disgusted and appalled by all the people who think Smith did the right thing. The right thing would have been to have a conversation with the person who offended you and come to an understanding. Two wrongs don't make it right.

That's fair. But I'd love to see how you handle having your wife and children belittled and made the butt of the joke for years... you can't even imagine it that's why everyone is overlooking it. The incident is unfortunate but we're talking about Will Smith, not Da Baby....

Exactly -only a certain type of person would think Wills behavior was ok . THis had already been building up prior to the Oscars and Will couldve had a conversation with Chris beforehand and let him know to leave Jada alone . Its obvious from the history Chris was going to joke about Jada in some way . And its not Chris's responsibility to know Jada has alopecia - many people assumed she just shaved her head

Exactly!!! He showed so much restraint. Way more than I know I could've shown. If he had responded back, with Will already in a rage, things would've definitely went from bad to worse and Oscar night would've been over right then and there. Chris kept the show going...not just for the night but for years to come. Although, personally I think they should've ended the show early right after that award. That or they should've escorted Will out and had the Williams sisters accept Will's award.

Definitely agreed. When things such as this happens to a person, whose had a rough life, or childhood, all that madness comes to mind & makes that person defending himself/herself. So it was surprising that thankfully, that awful scene & its aftermath, wasn't escalated. I'm on no one's side here. I still like both men. I just don't know what got into Will Smith. There was a better way to handle that. Now Will, will have to deal with what he did, until he goes to his Maker. 🤷🏽‍♀️👩🏽‍🦳

with movie ticket sales down over 60% in the past two years (still sinking); (all) the media attention on the situation in the ukriane (as it should be). bad economy, covid. yes, let's be (children) and concur and agree this "stunt" was real and not a PR move to pump movie sales per the classic "hollywood" talk controversy that will last for longer or weeks. if oscars did not pull this stunt (quietly) everyone would of "forgot" who won "what" at the "famous" oscars ten (10) minutes after the end of the show. hollywood (in today's environment) could not "let" that reality happen. hollywood has refined this for decades; so now this gives the view, dr. phil, the enquirer and probably the Saturday evening post something to yap and talk about with one goal. keep hollywood int he media talking "box" attempting to pull number for real/important news and events. notice there is only one (1) camera angle published of this "event" that is called: a controlled set. so with 9-10 other cameras and of course "nobody" in the audience once smith jumped on stage. not "one" person turned on their mobile.phone and hit "record"? right, i but this "con" PR stunt and "real". two days "later" chris rock show sells out in boston (that it did not before this "horrible" incident). i will now sign up for "updates" every time whoopi goldberg and entertainment tonight (both the pinnacle of real and honest information) "tweets" about his rather (cheap) PR stunt.

Im so heartbroken from seeing Chris face expression of embarrassment and pain. Will is not the only person in this freaking world that has had a rough childhood. He only speaks of that time he saw his dad hurting his mom, and he didn't do anything about it because he was a child. Others in the whole world have gone through worse than him and have overgrown and have left it in the past and have moved on to live successful productive life's. That he’s a work in progress he says, ok, for things that are beyond your control, but as for things like violence, you should’ve been dealt with the process of that. Their is no excuse for that type of behavior. If you need someone to smack cause your wife got you losing your mind then go work out, or go to therapy. The fact that your trying to impress your wife, who has no boundaries as she well said, is a waste of time. Your trying to hold on to someone that doesn’t in reality want you. If a man marries a narcissist, and once realizing it, doesn’t leave her, soon he will become a masochist! The same goes for the opposite.

What he did was very inappropriate especially at an award show in front of thousands of people who were in attendant. If what Chris spoke about his wife really pissed him off that tough, he should have waited until after the ceremony was over and handled that backstage. Very good video about Chris. Who knew? He’s a blessing to the world. The man has survived horror, put it to good use. Now I have even MORE reasons to love Chris and Eddie Murphy! What Will doesn’t realize, his reaction to a joke was so harsh... he represented everything Chris had to overcome. Even the anger issues. Will has been shamed by his wife so deeply, that was the anger letting it out. Speaking as a married woman, who loved her husband DEEPLY... would never allow her husband to have an open marriage. I never wanted another man other than my husband. The entire situation will Jada is messed up. Will is hen pecked. Jada gets what she wants, even at the expense of her husband. That’s narcissistic. I’m a Christian and easily recognize the evil Jezebel spirit she has in her. The red table? Watch... she’s using her platform to infect women to carry that spirit. It is evil. I love Will. My thoughts are that he needs to divorce Jada, never talk about her, let the grown kids see her... but he needs to severe ties with this evil woman. She loves nobody but herself. Me? I’d never let my children behold such behavior. Never. She’s planting seeds of destruction. Remember this, the devil NEVER plays fair. He comes to STEAL, KILL, DESTROY. Will did damage to Chris. We still do not know the outcome. Every hit to our heads make shatters little blood vessels. I’m praying God heals Chris of everything. That God places the night of the oscars far away from our man Chris. Will messed up. He lost me as a fan. He needs to get Jada in the past, divorce, cut his losses, find a woman that is pure in her heart. Watch, he will make another family, have children and a younger sweeter woman, and grow old gracefully. As an older woman, I know. Hitting 50? That’s the top of the mountain. It’s all downhill from there. Poor Will. He’s got to set Jezebel aside... find a heart that’s pure, that will not lie, cheat. Someone that doesn’t carry evil spirits. Pride comes before a fall. Don’t forget, THE devil NEVER PLAYS FAIR. EVER.

He laughed at the joke, got a look of disapproval from his "boss", he weighed his options then went with an open-handed slap to minimize damages and avoid assault charges and a lawsuit. It was a calculated decision. He was smug, confident, and strutted back to his seat like he'd just done something amazing. It was anything but a heated moment of anger. Gives u a whole different perspective, noones talking about Chris and the pain, embarrassment and humiliation hes dealing right now. every media outlet and you tube creators are constantly talking about Will and Jada. Well what about Chris? Will opened up traumas for Chris, I appreciate this is the ONLY channel that I've seen since the Oscar slap that's actually talking about the victim. Jada wasn't a victim, Chris was. Thank you different insight. Love your channel.

True, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I've gone thru many experiences with bullies in school but luckily I had a sense of humor and turned things around !! it's not easy fellas !! it take a lot of emotional struggle to turn things around !! teachers can't help you, you gotta do this on your own, break thru the barrier and become on top. As of result, it had helped me become wiser as an adult and nothing can stop me from doing whatever I wanted to do. I could stand and give a speech for an hour in college with free expression in thought without being shy or held back whatsoever !! There's so many things I could share with you but in terms of Chris, I know where he's coming from !! that's a hero !! And very few of us can excel the impossible, beat the devil , and win like Chris did !! I salute this man !

First of all their marriage is really none of our business. No one likes to be anyone's punch line . The woman wasn't happy about the jab and her husband's laugh was one of embarrassment or someone trying to hang in there . The joke about Jada was benign and flat. Totally forgettable. Any perceived offence is created entirely in the mind of the offended, who interpreted to suit their warped outlook. Thank you for sharing the back ground on Chris' life. Will, using the excuse of childhood dysfunction is no excuse. I'm sure five out of ten black children have experienced some dysfunctional drama in their lives (I did) but we have to move forward. Can you imagine everyone that has experienced drama or trauma lashing out at everyone who makes a joke or says something we don't like. Yes the joke was in poor taste IF: Chris knew about her condition. But if not it was a disrespectful joke. If you watch the first RTT Jada said she cut her hair bc Willow cut her's. Nothing about a medical condition even in talking to Tiffany Haddish never said a word. But bc Will has a wife that has zero respect for him he's in pain and rather than leaving Jada he would rather take it out of others. Will needs to apologize to Chris on National TV and NOT at the Red Table. I will no longer watch the RTT again.
