The Culkin family has been in the public eye for years - Macaulay was once one of the most recognizable child actors in the industry, with starring roles in the films Home Alone, Uncle Buck, and My Girl. Younger brother Kieran currently stars in HBO’s Succession, a role that’s gotten him two Golden Globe nominations and one Emmy nomination.
The Culkin clan is a large one, and Macaulay and Kieran are only two of eight siblings. Sadly, two of those siblings have died: half-sister Jennifer Adamson in 2000 and sister Dakota Culkin in 2008. This is the tragic story of Dakota Culkin's death.

I feel so bad for these boys. Their dad was a scary maniac. I remember when they were hiding from him in Wyoming. The boys were trying to get away from him. It was a big news story. I'm glad they can see the way thru to a happy healthy life.

I can attest to this type of loss. Sudden and tragic, my youngest daughter took her life March 25th 2020 at her home she shared with her husband of 4 years. From the exact moment I heard those word Meghan killed herself. Me and her 3 adult older siblings have changed forever. Nothing will ever be the same, I had her for 32 years, and she hid her anxiety, depression and extreme anger with a beautiful smile, highly educated intelligent, dark wit, rock, ice climber, hiked in Peru and Africa ,and her bright green eyes. I saw her the last time alive xmas 2019, talked to her when she called me March 23rd, and poisoned herself the next day. She had this planned from internet printouts dated December 6th. I will agree, this sort of pain will never ever be lessened. I am grateful that it was agreed to have her cremated a week after her autopsy, now she resides in 5 different states and her physical being is always there for me to kiss. 3 days after her death I did get to kiss her goodbye at funeral home. But I kept saying Meggie please open your eyes I want to see your green eyes ....#foreverbroken #MentalHealthMatters #suicidesurvivor

Kieran's words describe exactly how i feel about my sister who passed away. I remember something and smile and then start weeping... it's going to be always devastating is exactly how it is.

I’m happy that McCauley has seemed to have gotten his head together. He’s been great on Red Letter Media’s BotW episodes and his podcast is very good. He’s got super interesting stories to tell which I think everyone knew he would being in the business for so many years. Sad to hear about his sister. RIP

Yes rest in peace. It's never easy losing a sibling. Lost my baby sis due to cancer right before the c 19 hit hard. It hurts, but it's also weird because u still kind of hope and expect them to show up.

I'm so sorry. My condolences to you ..I still have extremely vivid dreams that my dad who died in 2012 of cancer, is still alive and was just hiding from us. Always a different scenario. He'll either have been there, sitting in the couch doing a crossword, and I just noticed, or he just walks in through the front door and hugs my mom ..and I look at him and ask "how is this possible?? Where WERE you?!" My first dream, I was taking buses to the city..I climbed up the side of a bridge and he was living inside of it lol happy as could be. Waking up from those is always a little sad.

@@intheraw6393 I had a very similar experience when my mom died. Then the dreams evolved and eventually changed to her actually having passed on, but purposefully meeting up with me for little chats and hangouts (even going shopping!), visiting me from the next life in my dreams. She's actually gotten healthier and younger over time, until, the last time (and I didn't even realize it till I woke up and mused over the dream), she was in the prime of life, younger than I ever remember her looking in person - I would say maybe early 30s. I find these periodic dreams to be a sweet, personal miracle - a chance to spend time with her, even if only in my head. I get to hug her so tight, and kiss her, and tell her how much I miss her, and how very excited I am that I get to see her and we can spend time together and catch up. It's really brilliant. It makes me so happy, though a little melancholy afterwards for missing her and not actually being able to call her up or physically talk to her or even decide when the next meetup will be. But I miss her so badly - the bit of melancholy is totally worth it for those brief moments of pure joy while I'm actually in the dream.

The story lead me to believe the story was about Dakota yet no photos of her and only her brothers shown. Just seemed wrong and empty. She should be remembered for who she was, her joys, passions, character and just her own life. When story ended we still knew nothing of who she was, just who her brothers are. To say she lives on in her brothers seems to say that her only value or merit was only in her relatives. This fell very short. Like going to a funeral and the eulogy was about others and not about the deseased.

That’s truly sad to lose a sibling and it never gets better. You always think of them and you always miss them. I think of it now like I keep his memory alive even if it still hurts.

McCauley has hopefully turned things around & is great in the current American Horror Story. they have had so much trauma. my dad passed recently & still expect him to bounce in!!! time heals, or at least helps you cope.

The sudden loss of a loved one is so horrible. You always feel sorry for the people who talk about it, you never think its going to be you and then you hear those words and your life is shattered and you have no idea what to do. The weird thing is I can't imagine my life WITH her now it's been so long. RIP 01/10/02

Sad that his father was obsessed with stardom! And destroyed his children & whole family in it's wake! Sounds alot like Michael Jacksons father too! The Osmonds were not allowed to be like other kids either! Exploiting these kids for fame & fortune is such a horrible thing! Many child stars end up a dang mess or dead! Because their moneys gone hollywwod doesnt want them any more & what a tragedy!
