Never though the day would come where I would say I actually miss Conrail........that caboose has a good welder light effect.........I haven't played Rail Baron in 24 years.

I’m from Long Island myself. I grew up in the town of Bethpage, which is right next door to town of Farmingdale where the Trainmasters of Babylon are located. The TMB have a beautiful layout. Let me know when you plan on going, I’ll like say hello and meet up with you gentlemen.

I was a member of the TMB club from 2010- 2017 until I moved south. Great group of guys and a couple of gals. Enjoyed running trains on it. The club also lost the previous layout in 2012 because of a lost lease. I remember demolishing it. So many hours are put into these layouts. Real estate has sky high prices and hard to find there. Glad your surgery went good Harry.Fix that crummy. You can do it! Some Hobos meet every year in Britt, Iowa every summer these days. Now a lot of hobos have cellphones.

Good show again fellows, as far as the Menards caboose, at that price point I think it would be fun to take apart and fix. My Menards is less than 20 miles away.

Hi guys, forget the road trip. If you are referring to the Trainmasters of Babylon layout. The layout is gone. They lost their lease on the building they were in.

Another fun program gents, short but sweet! And as usual I'll make a few comments that I hope everyone will enjoy. First, it doesn't surprise me there was a hobo "Standards of Conduct" drawn up at that 1889 convention. Back in those days there were three hobo applied classifications of men "riding the rails." First, hobos. Those men were really migrant workers or men in search of jobs who couldn't afford a ticket to ride. They tended to travel around the country following harvests or looking for "boom" areas where they could find employment. During the Great Depression quite a few men ended up as hobos looking for work anywhere they could find it. Hard times. The second were men the hobos called "tramps" or "yeggs." These were petty thieves looking for easy marks, the hobos being one of them. Hobos had no use for tramps, they made everyone look bad. The third were a term we'd all recognize, "bums." Not migrant workers or even petty thieves they were drifters exisiting on whatever handouts they could get. Hobos had no use for them either. Interesting, isn't it? That Menards caboose is the second one I've seen in an on-line video with issues right out of the box. I've got several Menards cars and have had no issues with them but if Menards doesn't get their quality contol together with the "exotics" they're going to get a bad rep concerning the same. Oh, and the "processing fee?" I suspect that's to cover the charge card processing for those ordering on-line. In a shop I used to work at years ago we didn't take charges for amounts less than $35 dollars, the credit card processing took too much of a bite out of the profit margin. And Harry, that restoration is a masterpiece! Well done! Looking forward to the next one!

4 Menard's with in 60 miles of me

Did Harry get a chance to dissect that Menard's caboose? I ordered one and had the exact same issue, sparks, ozone, shorting and blown fuses! The roller pick-ups are flimsy, don't roll very well, and bang against the truck frame causing the short. Lubing the rollers helps a bit...I'm still debugging, have not fully disassembled the caboose.
