#TRY Bowmore 12, or #TRY Bunnahabhain 12. I see Islay whiskys being suggested, like a Lagavulin, Laphroaig or Ardbeg, but there is more to Islay than these juggernauts and these brands are in dire need for more recognition

I personally have used Scentbird and can speak to quality product and customer service, at affordable prices. It's a great way to try out, want can be a very expensive product. Wonderful video as always enjoying this format a lot, edited really well, that pacing was *chef's kiss*!!!

#tryislayscotch Do 1 peated, one not. Great way to show the range of islay, and that not all islays are peat bombs. May even find that the unpeated islays are better?

@@nathanclark3575 I do enjoy the unpeated Islay or slightly peated better. However, it does depends on my mood though. When I want more depth and richer notes I choose Bunnahabhain 12 If I want more sherry influence but slightly peated, I choose Bowmore 10 dark and intense If I want a combination of both but with more kick in the peat department than Bowmore, I go for the Bunnahabhain Stiuireadair If want to crank up it a notch I go for Bruichladdich Port Charlotte. If I want a fight I go for Ardbeg or Lagavullin 16

Glenmorangie is one of my all-time favorite whiskies. It's inexpensive enough to be an "everyday drinker," and it's quite good for how inexpensive it is. It's one I recommend often, and always have stocked at home!

@@WhiskeyTribe I think the length it's at now is perfect. It's a really fun game, and a cool way to highlight the notes you typically get in the whisk(e)y being reviewed. And the veto was a nice touch.

Glenmorangie sets a baseline of what scotch is supposed to be. A great bottle to introduce yourself to scotch and one that I return to regularly after trying more unusual bottles.

They should be doing these blind so that they're not relying on their memories of the whisky's flavor profile. Could even end with a guess of the bottle

Flavor cloud results = blind. Peter or briana are handling that. But it’s not possible for me to prep and produce an episode without knowing the bottle being reviewed. If we shot things out of order we could theoretically make the bottle blind for Daniel, but that’s not very fair play for the game.

@@FightStealDrink At that point it becomes more like the old game show "Name That Tune." Maybe you compete with a name that whiskey in x tasting notes? A fun plot twist would be they are all Briana's tasting notes.

What I think they should do is a bonus round for fringe tastes, where they get some amount of points for guessing a taste the occurred exactly once.

@@beckobert it just doesn't seem as interesting to me for 2 people that regularly drink whisky to "guess" 3 to 4 tasting notes of a common whisky. At this point they don't even need to drink the whisky. Anyone with regular experience to Glenmo10 can rattle off those same tasting notes without hesitation. Especially Dan. I watched him nail down two distilleries when he was on the SMWS tasting a couple weeks ago. With his level of knowledge, by going into the tasting knowing the bottle, I'm not watching him make guesses as to what the community thought about the flavors, I'm watching him recall the flavors from his internal encyclopedia. Sorry, end rant

I’m definitely a bourbon guy, but I really enjoyed this scotch. I didn’t get very much barrel or spice like I’m used to in my bourbon. This was like a wonderful fruity 40 abv white wine.

Bought my first bottle today. Came home and saw this video... It was destiny. This scotch is AMAZING! So smooth... Definitely gonna be a mainstay at my house. Love the content! Gonna make it down to Austin and the distillery sometime soon.

Cardhu 12 was the first whiskey someone gifted me because they thought the bottle looked fancy. My taste buds agree with Daniels description pretty closely. I appreciate this format! Keep experimenting, it’s not like I haven’t also liked everything else you have put out.

New to whiskey here and a broke college boy. Not experienced with many whiskeys (like seriously broke lol, plus I live in Alabama where any alcohol is ridiculously expensive) but recently for a gift my girlfriend got me a bottle of Glenmorangie 10 and the Glenlivet 12 and so would like to see you guys #TRY Glenlivet 12. Glenlivet was the first whiskey that really stood out as something other than just “whiskey.”

When I was in college, several decades back (don't ask it's impolite) my parents took a cruise around the UK that included a land tour in Scotland. They stayed at a B&B near a local distillery and brought back several bottles. It was Cardhu and it was the first single malt I ever tried. And I was hooked. I have been a whisky guy but especially single malt scotch since then. A few years later at a golf outing run by a sales rep, one of the gents pulled out of bottle of Lag 16. My head went all explodey and a long term love affair was born. But it all started with Cardhu in my parents kitchen brought back from Scotland.

I agree about Cardhu 12! My preferences don't often include Speysides, but the Cardhu 12 is such a NICE whisky, with interesting enough flavours to it, that it's become an "always stock" option for me, especially at the price point.

This format is the perfect combination of silliness and education, which is what the Tribe should be. Glenmorangie is one that I always keep on my shelf; it's phenomenal paired with Dolin Rouge in a Rob Roy.

Such a fun theme, please do more of these! Glenmorangie was the first scotch I tried and it's still one of my favourites. It tastes like honey and vanilla and pear and... dandelions? or something. Floral and bright yet insanely smooth. It reminds me of a woman, lol.

#TRY Teacher's Highland Cream. It's something that's not commonly spoken about but it's affordable, accessible and I find it's a good bridge between noobs and those who have been dipping their toes a little bit longer. A nice complexity but lower abv and approachable. Absolutely loving this format. Also enjoying that so far you've used brands that are accessible pretty much anywhere. Curious to see which you'll use if you do a bourbon.

Yeah nice. Glenmo 10 is a solid whisky IMO. Not my favourite, and I do find it a bit basic wrt the finish and depth of flavour, - but the value is fantastic, and I do like it in a cocktail, like an Old Fashioned. Would be awesome if you guys could #try Bunnahabhain 12 or 18. One of my favourite distilleries and a refreshing change from other drams.

Have you guys ever tried any small-barrel finishing yourselves of these entry-level single malts? i.e. season a small barrel first in sherry, Port, wine and then add your spirit?
