REMEMBER: the logic here is to make your CAMERA as bright as you can... that way, your Flash's TTL will not be firing its flash too much (which will create hotspots on your subjects' faces). And don't forget to watch till the very end too...

Thanks Andrew and Demi! Super tutorial. Before I bought my DSLR I was using my Nikon F90s and an SB-15 flash. I used to tape a piece of lens cleaning tissue to the face of the flash to diffuse. That diffused and I figure, cut the power of the flash by at least 3/4 of s stop. Seemed to work.

I tried out this and it turned well. I have a godox T350S TTL flash for my sony a6000 but it doesn't have an flash exposure compensation option on the flash unit. I had to go into the camera menu to do that. I hope to see more night photography videos on your channel. I am specifically interested in LED light photography using some inexpensive LED light sets. Thank you

Thank you for this valuable tutorial Andrew... !¡! But Cóuld you clarify the reason behind doing camera exposer slightly negative and If we compensate flash exposure then flash power should be affected, then how can we get correct exposure. Please clarify this doubt... !¡!
