GOD the father exist always. he is seperate from Christ. GOD turned himself into flesh aka Jesus while he was still GOD. he seperated himself in nature. Jesus'' response stating " I am" was not verifying his IDENTITY, it was, in fact verifying his existence or state of being, also validating his prehuman existence in heaven. Considering the argument raised by the Jews "...you are not yet 50 years old ". The translated " I am" in the account of Jesus, most likely is a mistranslation and is more likely intended "I was " again confirming his prehuman existence since his AGE or length of life was being questioned.

Yes, Jesus did say this, but who is man to interpret this as he is saying that he is God? Or was he not making it clear that he was a fine and perfect example of his father, his personality, his attributes, his power, of which God gave him the authority over.
